Motel 6 San Diego Airport/Harbor

It was cheap and it was good, free parking too! The room was pretty much what you would expect for a Motel 6 at the rate we paid...what I didn't expect was the very friendly and helpful staff as a bonus, plus close (walking distance) to lots of cute shops, coffee, bars and eateries. Walked to the trolley to get to Petco park, saving us time and money as well! Overall great value as most other options for this holiday weekend were going to cost us twice as much for a room we would only be using to sleep in after a concert! I also prefer the minimalism of Motel 6 type rooms (laminate floors, platform beds) to more "luxurious" properties because I feel they are safer if you are concerned about bed bug infestations.

Could it be a little bit cleaner and rooms be a little better maintained? Of course, but motels get banged up and I'm not going to obsess about baseboards in a room I am using for 8 hours to sleep and shower in!

Flew into San Diego from Mexico early evening needed an airport location for early morning flight departing 7:30 am for flight two Hawaii.

I was given an up stairs room would have preferred ground level room had 3 heavy bags to carry. Left for airport in the dark by taxi 5:15 am building I was in had no outside lighting found it difficult hauling 3 bags down stairs in the dark.

Even though it's right under the incoming flight path to San Diego Airport, our room was quiet and comfortable once inside and an excellent value for the location.

There were some minor issues with cleanliness, and the vending area is locked after midnight. But for the price I doubt we could have done better.

I was very happy to have a room with a shower instead of a bath tub. I find it hazardous to shower in a bath tub so this was a real plus.

The shower door was installed backwards. The door opened at the shower head end which created a very wet floor. Especially when leaning in to try to adjust the temperature. The shower knobs we’re at the end where there was no door so that the shower temperature could not be adjusted without either getting sprayed with cold water or water that was too hot.

I luv the fact my dog can go about and be welcomed thru out the hotel areas. The hotel staff appear to be cool around my large dog and that puts me at ease .

I don't like the dirty floors . Every single time I check in , I do a mini express cleaning of the room just so my dog can go about the room .I prefer the floor to have been mopped prior to my arrival so I don't have to do it , For a pet friendly hotel, a water bowl would be nice greeting gesture . It would be nice if the showers had hand held nozzles to rinse off our pets .Also I think a couple pet treats should be mixed in the vending machine selection .

There was laundry on site AND a pool! The staff was SUPER nice! Rooms are big and beds are comfy. I expected less to be honest, but surprisingly left overwhelmingly satisfied.

I did see one cockroach in the bathtub that freaked me out. But considering downtown, I guess it makes sense.

It looked like it was recently remodeled. Furniture was new. Easy access to airport and downtown/ little Italy.

Fan in bathroom made noise. I walked barefoot in room and my feet were black after- so even tho it didn’t look dirty, it showed.

No breakfast eaten . I like the staff everyone is cool. I feel comfortable when I stay with my dog. Some pet friendly hotels have staff that aren't truly pet friendly. I like this location because it's close distance to gas , stores, restaurants , and MTS. (Bus & Trolley ). There a nice gas mart several doors down and open 24 hrs for any needs . Plus it's one of the closest Motel6 to the waterfront .

Sometimes everyone seems to check in all at once and only one staff member to process check in /out and handle any other person needing service . So there is a line and wait of more than 15 min which seems even longer with no where to sit .

Very convenient from the airport and easy onto I-5.

So close to airport you could almost touch the underbelly of the planes, needless to say a little loud.

The shower and bathroom fixtures were nice. Smoking balcony. Big room Came with a fridge Very clean AC/Heater worked great, some hotels the ac/heater takes a couple days to make a difference, not this place Free wifi and it kicked ass, great signal. No complaints regarding the wifi at the location. I don't even know if they have paid wifi

The room was big, my unit included a patio. The bed was big, but not the most comfortable bed under the stars tonight. And the TV is tiny compared to how big the room is... There's is lots of signs of ongoing construction. No bath tub, great shower though.
