The Whitehall Hotel

We liked the location; staff was friendly and helpful. the bar and restaurant were nice. the hotel was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Could have used 2 more pillows, we only had two. There were many restaurants within walking distance. The hop on hop off bus was within walking distance; The gagster crime tour was within walking distance. We did uber to the theater district.

The bathroom in our room needed to be upgraded. The toilet was very low to the ground and sat in front of the vanity and mirror. The shower head was excellent. If we ever stay again, I will ask for a handy cap bathroom in hopes of having a safer bathroom.

We appreciated our very clean, large enough, well decorated room and the friendly and helpful staff members.

The hotel is operating with a very limited staff and few of the amenities (coffee in the lobby, room service, daily maid service, etc.) that people might expect to find at more expensive hotels. This was reflected in the lower-than-usual pricing for this hotel, and we were very happy to go without those amenities in exchange for the very reasonable rate that we paid.

I loved the whole vibe of the hotel. Even while being slightly dated,(obviously) it had a certain elegance to it that I appreciated. Everything was in good walking distance so that was a plus & our room had an amazing view of Michigan Ave. The sunrise was perfection! I will definitely be booking another stay soon!

The parking could’ve been explained upfront and more thoroughly, rather than me having to ask several questions to clarify where to park.

My family and I love to travel across the country, especially during the holidays; if you plan for a vacation in Chicago, I recommend the Whitehall Hotel, the best location close to Michigan lake and the Chigaco river in downtown Chigaco. This hotel has magnificent staff; on the last day of our vacation, I received an email from the airline company about canceling our flight regarding the snowstorm. Then, we met ALICIA (the receptionist) in the hotel lobby, and we talked with her about the flight cancelation. She volunteered to help us. She called the airline and waited three hours on hold to help us find a flight, and she did it; ALICIA provided the help I never had before; I would like to thank everyone for the fantastic work they do for every guest.

Your front desk staff is EXCELLENT!!!! I travel often and have never been treated as well as I was at your facility. My 81 year old mother joined us for one night. She was visiting downtown Chicago for the first time. It was our birthday gift to her, and your front desk gal made her feel so very special. I wish I could remember her name. It was the week of August 14th.

This was our second stay at the hotel and it was perfect. We booked two rooms, because we had family visiting and they were kind enough to put us on the same floor. The room was perfect, big and clean, the bathroom is great. It is an old building, but very well kept, close to everything, you can walk everywhere you need. Due to Covid, they don't do housekeeping, but they give you everything you might need, new towels, bags for trash, etc. And last but not least, the staff is very friendly. We are definitely coming back.

The room was great, after asking if we can get a 2 bed instead of the ordered 1 bed room, this was made possible. The lady at the reception was really helpful and patient with me, really very great.

The room, just the floor was a little dirty, but everything still within the limits. Only in the hotel we learned that there is no room service due to Covid, this has contributed to the pollution. All but complaining at a high level. I have my set security even 2 days after checking out still not free get, this could also go faster

but! please repair the gym equipment!! it s my third stay since it was broken and it is still broken! it s really not that hard to repair this in 3 months time. Also i don t like that the services that used to be offered ; like coffee downstairs is no longer there

stayed here many times and will do again, great staff stylish spacious room best bed i ever slept in (and i travel every month)

all the little things which make a difference have been removed prior to earlier stays no coffee in the morning. no restaurants open (restaurants everywhere have been opened why not this one) no more alarm clock in the room no longer water and snack/minibar on the desk

I liked the history & vintage look ,1920s. Its close to everything.

The bathtub shower faucet was not working. I had to pull hard from the inside to get the shower started in Room 1510. The bed looked like a Full size. I requested a queen. The front desk tried to get us a king but it was full. I would describe the room as full size bed so as to know what to expect a queen. The working space was not available. it was under renovation. it should be notified. however ya had a nice private lounge which the front desk recommended with outlets set for laptop hook up.
