The entire experience exceeded our expectations especially compared to other locations we have stayed. The attention to detail and the commitment to the guests was obvious. The breakfast served on the porch was an excellent experience and the food did not disappoint. The house and the grounds added immensely to the relaxed and comfortable feel.

The pillows were very soft for us, detracting from our comfort. A footrest would also have been appreciated.

The innkeepers,Douglas and Robert were very personable and it shows that they both have backgrounds in the hospitality business. From breakfast, that featured a different delicious dish every morning, to happy hour, which featured original cocktails and local beverages, everything was enjoyable. The property was also centrally located that made walking to places we wanted to do easy.

The property is close to the main road into town so you do get a lot of traffic noise. But other that that, I can’t come up with many negative things.

The owner/hosts were wonderful and entertaining. Breakfasts were a culinary delight with western omelette quiche and carrot cake waffles. The house and grounds had plenty of room to find a quiet place for your enjoyment. And, the location was close enough to walk to many of the points of interests.

Would not have minded a restroom on the main floor. This would save elderly guests from going upstairs to use facilities in their own in-room bathroom.

Robert & Douglas were fabulous hosts. The Aldrich House was magnificent. Breakfasts were delicious. Beds were dreamy. Location was walking distance to the Visitor’s Center, Grant Park, Trolley, Grants House, Washburn House, Belvedere Mansion, Museum, Dowling House, and PT Murphy’s magic show.

Robert and Douglas are amazing hosts. They have done a phenomenal job with the decorating and pay attention to all the little details. The entire place is charming and immaculate. Their food is scrumptious. We had a wonderful time learning more about the area from them and meeting other guests. We would highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Galena. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Robert and Douglas are phenomenal hosts. We arrived right at cocktail hour and began with a tour, brief history of the inn and finished with a seasonal, homemade adult beverage. They engage their guests in conversations not only with themselves but with other guests staying at the inn. It is obvious that Robert and Douglas have done their homework and are very active members of the Galena community. They will always have a recommendation for an activity or restaurant to try. Breakfast is made fresh every morning and is not the "we defrosted some boxed waffles" type. The rooms are impeccably kept and comfortable. They are cannabis friendly but if you do not imbibe, like my partner and I, you will never know others are. Robert and Douglas will stay in contact with you from the moment you book until you arrive which is quite refreshing. I received a personal phone call within hours of booking 3 months before our stay inquiring if we had any special plans or needed help planning our stay. Then, I recieved weekly emails as the time of our stay approached with COVID and opening updates. When we arrived there was a beautiful handwritten note welcoming us and congratulating us on our anniversary along with a celebratory bottle of bubbly! I can not say enough about our beautiful experience here. Of course you could book a 70 dollar a night motel but the hospitality of the Aldrich Guest House is worth double and more than what you will pay to stay at this beautiful inn.

This was our first experience at a B&B and it surpassed my expectations. The history of Galena paired with the serenity made for the perfect get away. The breakfast was incredibly delicious! I was also very appreciative of how accommodating the owners were to my gluten allergy for both breakfast and cocktail hour.

Breakfast on the porch was a treat. The innkeepers are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We had a lot of special requests because we were getting ready for a meeting nearby and they were super acommodating.

The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the opportunity to meet the other guests at the cocktail hour and breakfast. The breakfast was amazing. The house was beautiful and its history very interesting!

Douglas and Robert are outstanding hosts. They really made us feel like we were staying with good friends. The Aldrich House is tastefully decorated with a serene air (no chintz here!) and is a very short walk into town. They went above and beyond to accommodate our whole-foods plant based diet with delicious breakfasts daily. No wonder these two have so many 5-star reviews!

No complaints at all. Everything was top-notch.
