Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Valparaiso, an IHG Hotel

This was definitely one of nicest hotels our family has ever stayed in. And the staff made the stay welcoming and stress free. Thank you to the breakfast staff lady who was so fun to interact with, like a mom looking after her children's families. I wish I knew her name to give her even more praise.

I would have liked a little more counter space in the bathroom, but this is understandable as it was the wheelchair accessible room. My kids thought the beds were too soft because I slept so comfortably that I rolled over in my sleep and started snoring. I haven't slept that well in a long time. The only other problem was one of the outlets was not working so the light and any charging cords we plugged in didn't work.

Very clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, and great hot breakfast selections.

The facility look is a little tired and dated, with worn looking carpet in the 3rd floor hallway, kinda noisy ride in the elevator especially for those of us who haven't yet enjoyed our first cup of morning coffee, and no USB plug for electronic device charging in the room, so be sure to pack your old charger.

staff were great when we checked in, but later they were very rude to my kids. they wanted hot chocolate and there wasn’t any, the vending machine didn’t dispense they tried 3 times the front desk person gave them so money back but didn’t offer or say she would have someone look at it so they spent the money trying to get what they wanted and finally did. just a rude experience for my 17 year old daughter. not sure why it is such an issue when kids ask for things. it wasn’t like they were running halls, jumping around, or screaming.

Very clean nice rooms great pool and hot tub! Fabulous breakfast. They did call shortly after check in to make sure our rooms were clean and ask if we needed anything. A nice touch.

The two front desk people (one was a manager) were arguing with each other before and during our check in and just had very grumpy demeanors. It was very uncomfortable. My child asked for change to use a vending machine and he was very rude and yelled at my child. I wouldn’t stay again due to their poor customer service. Learn to speak with kindness. I felt yelled at during check in when they were explaining the hotel policies to me. And got a long lecture about the magnetic keys and how to properly care for them. This must be a huge annoyance to them because they went on and on about it.

the location was convenient and the rooms were cleaned well and spacious.

the pool was OVERLY chlorinated, all of the children ended up with severely red eyes, and nausea/vomiting!- the breakfast was poorly stocked and nothing was hot!- I’m not sure if they weren’t expecting their guests to eat but we had to wait about an hour (730-830) for simple eggs and sausage- we ended up leaving and getting breakfast elsewhere.

Breakfast was very good, pool and pool area was very nice, staff was excellent and very accommodating especially Jessica at the front desk and the ones working the breakfast area

Booking.com never mentioned to the hotel that we wanted rooms close to each other

Nice and quiet, clean. Staff very helpful with suggestions of places to go to see trains and easy directions.

I was told that there was a $50 room deposit that would drop off at checkout but according to my bank account, it hasn't. I am going to have to call and complain.

The breakfast was great and the staff was exceptional. I stayed for over a week and it was great. Would definitely go again! Couldn't be more pleased!!!!

It's a little dated but there was a poster that indicated a remodel.

The breakfast was delicious and offered lots of variety. The room and common area was well kept. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Parking was easy. Great location. Not far from the dunes and other fun areas.

Pool hours could start earlier. We wanted to swim in the morning before the 11am checkout, but the pool wasn't open until 10am. This wouldn't have given us enough time to enjoy the pool and get dressed before checkout.

We liked everything about it. Friendly people, very clean rooms! I have traveled around the US and there have been hotels that are so bad that I refused to stay. The lady that checked us in was new, she did a great job! I will come back and stay again! Thank you so much! :)
