The Columbia Inn at Peralynna

This is a beautiful bed & breakfast-esque hotel in a residential neighborhood a 5-7 min drive from the Merriweather Post Pavilion where I was attending a music festival. It's an attractive building with beautiful common areas. The room itself was very spacious with a large foam bed and everything I needed for a three-night stay.

The all-white room could have used a little color and was showing signs of wear. The metal bed was very creaky - made noise at the slightest movement. Breakfast was not being served due to COVID concerns, although it WAS being served at local restaurants.

There isn’t much to say on this issue. I was there for one night to avoid driving home late at night after a long dinner and drinks.

I did not get to see much of the property. However the “fireplace” made this annoying rumbling throughout the night. The television did not seem to work. It had limited channels which faded in and out and seemed to be scrambled. I was glad I had a book with me. $200; not including taxes, for one night under these circumstances is ridiculous: small room, one chair, little porch in front, small fridge and coffee maker and a jetted tub. Definitely not worth it.

I loved the homey feeling of the property. The bed was so comfortable, the bathroom, the fridge, coffee machine, everything was just perfect. I love nature so the location was perfect and I’m glad was able to just lay out on the grass and not feel weird hotel vibes. the staff was also very friendly! I can’t wait to come back and try the other suites

It was last minute reservation and so we were in the basement. The middle section with the stones have potential for so much beauty it should be taken care of.

The breakfast was a bagged assortment of items. Nice to have something available. Would have preferred a fresh cooked breakfast. Cheryl was wonderful. She waited for us due to a late check in.

Our room was in the basement and the carpet in the room was dirty. Multiple stains. Also carpeting on stairs and back entrance very dirty.

We had been told ahead of time that they weren’t serving breakfast due to COVID, and we were very pleasantly surprised when they gave us a small gift bag containing oatmeal, orange juice, pretzels, and granola bars to make up for it. The staff was lovely to talk with and made us feel very welcome.

The walls are a bit thin and a neighboring room was chatting loudly during the night.

My stay was very short. I booked this on very short notice on my elsewhere when my travel plans took an abrupt change during heavy rains. I just needed a place to stay for a night, get a hit shower and get out of my soaked clothes before getting back on the road the next morning. I found this treasure through booking.com and I was thrilled when I pulled up! Absolutely beautiful hotel. This is a fantastic boutique style hotel. The incredibly nice woman at the front desk waited up for me past their 10:00pm check in time. She was so super polite, was very patient with me and beyond courteous when I’m certain she too wanted nothing more than to get some sleep. She helped me to my room and to get situated, provided me with instructions so I could check out early and not have to bother anyone (I wasn’t sure how early I would be leaving). Some of their services were still unavailable due to pandemic restrictions at the time of my stay. My room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. I stayed in the “J” suite. Lots of towels (and this may seem like a strange thing to rate, but the towels were really nice quality). Lots of comfy pillows on the bed. Really a nice room. I wish I had had more time to spend here, will absolutely stay here again and definitely recommend. I learned after my stay that this place apparently backs up to some farmland and has incredible views (it was pouring cats and dogs when I arrived late at night and when I left in the morning (around 8:00am).

The heat for the room (it was cold outside during my stay), was provided by a fireplace and not a typical thermostat. It has its charm, but there’s nothing to regulate the temperature on a fireplace. There also wasn’t a latch lock. As a solo traveler, I would have appreciated that. While you can’t get into the hotel without a key card or being let in, doesn’t mean the other guests can’t be weirdos.

Very welcoming staff, cozy quarters with a nice decor. Lovely outdoor sitting area. Quiet, comfortable stay. Very recommended for a romantic getaway! Also very Covid safe- masks in all public areas, no contact check out, and no food/buffet served.

The building could use a little bit of upkeep... The door from our room to the outdoor sitting area had a broken lock and the fireplace-like heater, though pretty, did make an annoying sound which was bothersome throughout the night.

The staff were very helpful and let me check in early after a long flight. The grounds are very green and there is outdoor space.

I liked everything. Lovely, comfortable decor and the room has a refrigerator and a microwave.

I love anything antique and the peace and calmness was in the air. The room and building was clean except for ... The staff was accommodating

The cleaning person left crumbs in 2 locations and work on the patio needs to be updated

The bed was extremely comfortable. Best sleep ever

The policy for 8am being the time that the front door open was a little rough because I had to hope that leaving my key on the desk was appropriate enough as checkout
