The Earl of Sandwich Motel

I stayed in room 9 on 4/28. The room had a cozy look, hardwood floor, a firm comfortable mattress with very soft pillows. It was clean. The room was chilly ( only 50 degrees outside) it had a combination ac/heater unit that took a while to warm the room and even longer to warm the bathroom ( wish it had a heat lamp). Water pressure was average. There is a pretty good pub 5 minutes walk ,”Father’s “. I definitely would come again however, I wouldn’t come in the off-season because of the chill. And the outdoor area with the pool would be in full swing in season which would really add to the charm.

The storm door handle is broken, one of the casement windows wouldn’t latch closed letting in cold air, and tub drain was backing up a bit.

The Earl of Sandwich was close to everything in Sandwich, easy to get to. Parking was good and although I didn’t end up using it, the pool looked great.

My email said I could check in at 2:00 which I thought was great. When I arrived at 1:50 I was told that check in was at Three, so please come back. I realize that I was a few minutes early, but since it didn’t look busy, I was surprised they turned me away. When I asked about Ice, they said “no ice today “.

Room was spotlessly clean. Grounds were peaceful and well kept. Refrigerator with freezer, and coffee maker in room. Nice linens, and toiletries available. Little porch off the room to sit and enjoy morning coffee. Pool was spotless! It didn't say it on the website but ice machine was available. Ducks and white geese in the yard were fun to watch. Easy to get to.

We had to keep adjusting the AC - it seemed to keep shutting itself to a higher temp. It is a wooded area, but the baby flies in the bathroom (total of 7 that either crawled on the wall or stayed on the shower wall) might upset people. Paneling in the BR is very beat up, and toilet seat very worn and needs replacing.

The grounds were very quaint. Well kept, nice variety of seating areas, nice decks off the back of the unit. The ducks were very fun, I counted at least 30 of them. There's a small duck pond and they appear to be well cared for. It was nice sipping coffee on the back deck and watching them. The common lawn area was very peaceful. The pool was so nice! We had the luck of being the only people using it both times we were in the pool, so it felt like our own little escape area. The room was well appointed, beds were super comfortable, shower was nice and hot with good pressure.

I don't have anything at this time that would have improved our stay.

The Earl of Sandwich motel and its grounds are located in a peacefull and quiet park with old and tall shade trees. Some rooms have private patio with direct access to the nice green space with picnic tables and chairs around the firepit, which is righ next to the pond with ducks and a couple of geese. Property also has a well maintained 6ft deep outdoor pool in a hidden area of the property. Wood trimmed rooms have antique looking furniture, comfortable chairs and bads, TV, microwave, refrigirator, coffee maker, and working and quiet AC. There are also garden swings arround this professionally maintainrd property. It is not a traditiinal motel. The entire propery makes you feel like it is some place in Heaven.

The rooms did not have toaster.

This motel was a real sleeper for me because it looks so modest from 6A that one has no idea what is in back! It turns out that the motel is pretty well laid out around a sizable open space where individuals and families can relax. Really safe for kids because the play area is in back and easy for parents to monitor. My room (Unit 1) was traditional Cape Cod style, 2 queen beds, spacious and exceptionally clean. The room has a standard wall unit heater/air conditioner but also had a portable dehumidifier running. (My arthritis thanks you! And much less noisy than the through wall unit.) The motel is well situated

Attention to amenities, coffee makers, microwaves, refrigerators in the room was very nice. The pool looked very nice but had a padlock on it. No information on how to access it though.

The room contained a queen size bed and there was only 3 pillows. Their pillows were extremely soft so one was not enough not being two people left someone short. Also there is a sign in the office next to the coffee maker that says enjoy our continental breakfast. They have not served that si de covid started. Take down the sign!!!

The building and room were cute and quaint. Very homey and comfortable.

The staff were unavailable when I checked in. Had to call their cellphone because the office was empty and no one answered the motel's business phone. The staff (housekeeping) was not versed in English but thanks to Booking.com everything was already taken care of and conversation was barely needed.

This motel gave me a feeling of nostalgia...reminded me of the motor inns that my family stayed in while on vacation in the late 70's / early 80's. Rather than staying in a boring cookie-cutter chain hotel with no character, this motel definitely brings that local Cape feeling. Everything was very clean, plenty of hot water in the shower, and the setting was beautiful...tucked away in a garden area with ducks, rabbits, and geese out in the backyard, our girls loved it. If you are visiting the Sandwich area, this is definitely the perfect place to stay! You're on Route 6A so just a short drive into Sandwich where there are cafes, gift shops, the Sandwich Museum of Glass (also a neat place to see!). I would highly recommend this motel!

We loved everything!

Didn’t have breakfast because I saw the coffee was fake. The owner generously printed something I needed, and allowed me to come early because I had flown all night from California to visit a sick friend.

Can’t think of anything that could have been better. I picked the cheapest place in the location I needed and was amazed at loving the place so much. They do a great job.
