21c Museum Hotel Kansas City

Location is very good. Very easy to use s street train to go everywhere. The bed quality is good. We could sleep very well. Theme of the modern arts here is meaningful. Also I liked the entrance rode with the modern lights decoration. Each time we come back the hotel( we stayed for 2 nights), feeling like a going into the special time and space, and finally staff's smile and unexpected art waited for us. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you so much.

One thing we had a little hope our room ...We loved a penguin art on the wall around the bed, but we felt a little bit empty on the wall around the door to the coffee machine space. We talked that if we have a small vivid color abstract modern art on the wall around there.... ( Because of this hotel is an interesting modern museum hotel, our expectation is getting high about the art in the room also haha!!. )

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. So much art all around. I loved that they kept many of the original features of the old Savoy hotel like stair railings, paneled doors, windows, etc. This hotel is a perfect blend of an old classic building with a beautiful modern twist. The location is great, right smack in downtown near many bus and rail lines. Public transportation is free in Kansas City and we saved a ton of money by choosing to ride the bus instead of using Uber or Lyft everywhere.

While the majority of the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional, we did experience a couple of staff members at the front desk who were obviously in a bad mood or having a bad day and it showed. Also, we had arranged to have our room cleaned on a day where we were out exploring the city all day. When we got back to the room, we were a hot, tired, sweaty mess and the room had not been touched. Bed was still unmade, trash had not been thrown out, and worst of all, no fresh towels in the bathroom. Luckily we were able to secure some clean towels after a quick midnight visit to the front desk.

the staff were all very kind and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the location was amazing! Very accessible to everywhere we wanted to go downtown. we also greatly enjoyed the museum in the hotel and the art displayed throughout each floor.

The only thing we ran into was that the bathtub didn’t seem to work. The shower never fully switched off and there was no way to plug the drain for the bath. The shower was excellent though, so it was only a small inconvenience.

The location is in a walkable area of downtown Kansas City. Parking is the only downside, as it’s either street or paid parking garage. The staff was incredibly nice, the hotel is very unique and doesn’t feel like a conventional “chain hotel”. The room we had was small but I don’t mind because we were out doing things during the day. I have booked numerous higher end hotels in KC and this is the first one to actually feel worth the price! There’s an art museum in the hotel, as well as the Savoy which is an excellent bar with friendly servers.

the air conditioning also kept shutting off in the night which wasn’t too bad being that it’s mid October, but could be an issue in summer.

This hotel was amazing. I will only stay at 21c hotels from now on. Art in the hotel made it very cool and the design and layout of the building was very beautiful and unique. The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. I want to design my bathroom after the one in this room. They were so kind to our dog, they gave him bowls, towels, and water. The restaurant (Savoy) was so incredible–must eat here! Loved this hotel!!

There is no on-site parking–you have to park across the street (not expensive though) but it made checking in a little more difficult. The only other real negative was that our dog was afraid of the ramps at the elevators and entrance haha

Spotlessly clean, really beautiful with art truly worthy of a modern museum. Not an unpleasant moment on the property. Excellent concierge service, made the whole stay easy. Also, it's worth investing in the breakfast inclusive rate, the restaurant is excellent AND gorgeous AND historic. Sit in the same booth that Harry S Truman habitually dined in.

I'm glad I bought at a rate that included breakfast - while this is the only $14 buffet I've come across that I'd pay for, I wouldn't have done so more than once.

The room was comfortable and well appointed. Maybe a little pricey for the space and amenities offered, but well located with friendly staff and an historic bar and restaurant space right off of the elevators on the ground level. We used this as our "base" during first fridays art showing just to the south of this location, and walked to the streetcar to the river market to do some christmas shopping in the morning. If you go, I recommend using the restrooms on the ground floor - very cool and interesting space.

There are a couple of amenities that I was looking for and missing: I figured they would offer spa-robes in the closets (nope) and the bathroom had no dim setting or night-light - so with the small couch and table in the room, made it difficult to navigate to the restroom in the dark without banging into furniture along the way. We had breakfast at the Savoy (historic restaurant, located off of the lobby) in the morning and were disappointed with weirdly slow service in an empty restaurant and good food spoiled by too much salt or sugar added, but great coffee.

Loved the historic building and the art museum concept. Great location for accessing River Market area. Very nice front desk staff. Decorating and design finishes were fun and well-executed. Loved the Nespresso machine with tea options.

Bed seemed a bit too soft and mushy. Room temperature was hard to maintain. It cooled okay but air seemed to stay too humid and stagnant. No exhaust fan in bathroom.

It was clean and quiet, and we could easily walk to destinations. The art was interesting.

Had to pay for the parking garage overnight but happy it was across the street. I was really hoping for a room like the pictures with a view. When we first entered the room, the main light wouldn't come on, but after messing with the bathroom lights, it worked. I don't believe it was the operator it was just a flip switch. Lol

This was a last minute stay because our conference hotel could not find our reservation. The next morning they uncovered their error. The desk staff at 21C were amazing--they apologized more than the hotel in error and happily refunded our additional two nights. Easy parking. Great coffee in the morning. This was a lovely place!
