We enjoyed our stay at King Hotel. The hotel is conveniently located in walking distance between two subway stations with good connection to Manhattan and throughout Brooklyn. The staff was friendly, the room was clean with housekeeping and fresh towels provided each day. Our room had a very comfortable bed, a tv, a fridge, and a microwave, we also had great distant view of Manhattan skyline from our window. While the neighborhood is a bit industrial it feels rather safe and it offers a range of stores and great eating places.

There were really only two downsides - one is that there was no plates, cutlery, or even cups in the room, so while there's a microwave, you'd need your own utensils to eat the meal. The other is that the rooms are not soundproof at all. We were lucky not to have noisy neighbors during our stay so it didn't turn out to be an issue for us, but I could imagine that one may be easily disturbed if loud guests stay on the same floor.

April 2022

We stayed for 6 nights in late April. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The room was perfect for our stay. It's not a huge room, but it provided us with everything we needed comfortably. The king sized bed was a nice treat and it was very comfy! Some reviews mentioned that it was noisy, but we didn't have any issues with that. The room wasn't soundproof (sometimes you might hear someone in the hall waiting for the elevator, no different than our apartment at home), but the other guests seemed to be respectful so we didn't have any issues. One thing to note, some items that are listed as being included with your room might not be in the room when you arrive, but a quick visit to the front desk will get you sorted out. There wasn't a hairdryer in our room, but I just had to go downstairs to ask for one. It's also really nice because everything is new! The shower is really nice and the water pressure is wonderful. The subway is fairly close and can get you where you need to go easily. At first we were using the 9th Ave Station, but we started using the 36th Street Station which was a nicer walk and we were able to stop for breakfast and late night eats enroute. That was really nice since the last time I stayed in New York there was no food around the hotel. TIP: If you like tacos, do yourself a favour and make sure to check out El Taco Bronco (860 5th Ave) close to the hotel. The prices are great and the food is AWESOME!!! We wanted to go every night when we were coming back from our excursions, but sadly were too full on some nights. We managed to visit twice (not enough) haha. Cash only! Also, Sunset Park is nice to check out if you are looking for a spot to enjoy a coffee in the morning. It has a great view of the city :)

The window was drafty, I think the windows aren't sealed the best, but thankfully you are in charge of the heater so you can adjust it to meet your needs. The towels are a little rough, so if you like soft towels maybe bring one from home. The shower could use a little shelf to hold your personal items. The shower door seemed to be missing a slat of glass so the water splashed out on the floor quite a bit, so we put a towel down in front to avoid a wet floor. Maybe they are planning to put a piece in to finish off the shower, I'm not too sure. Overall, it was perfect for our needs and we would definitely stay again!

Though some things that were advertised weren’t available such as free breakfast or coffee etc, the check in process was easy, the staff was phenomenal, and the room was awesome. The black out curtains had us missing our itinerary because we kept sleeping in because the room was pitch dark even at noon. The showers had great water pressure and came from the top for a rain shower type of shower and the temperatures went from cold to HOT. When we arrived, the toilet lever was loose and we told the staff at around midnight and someone was there to fix it within 5 or so minutes. It’s also in a good area with lots of food places within walking distance and the metro station is close too. I also liked it so much that at night time the hotel was easy to locate because of the bright pastel lights all over the building and on top. Finally, check out was super easy

I wish that the fridge was a bit bigger but honestly that’s it.

There's an amazing fresh juice & smoothie bar two blocks away (Don Pepe). Staff is super friendly, and the roof top view on the fifth floor is cool, although I wish the rooftop itself had been open! That would have been great

It was a bit far from Times Square, Central Park, Empire State, etc. If you're traveling to any of those sites be prepared for a walk and a few subway stops--it's about an hour away from Manhattan.

I liked it because it met my expectations. Clean, quite, easy check-in and check-out, friendly staff. I liked the location but it may not be the best area for many visitors. Since I lived in Brooklyn for many years, the area offered a lot of food choices, close to a public library where I went to plug my computer and work. Easy accessed by bus and trains.

No breakfast provided. I had thought there was a grab and go, which would have been better than none at all but unfortunately not. Hotel is very close to diners etc so it was no problem for us to walk a few minutes for breakfast but it would be better if some was provided. Also there was no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities in the room although fridge provided was good.

as above but only an inconvenience, not a problem

We liked the location, the bed, the view at the 4th floor. The staff was very helpful and the furniture was quite new. Although the room we got at the arrival had faulty windows, the staff reacted quickly and arranged room exchange for us :)

The room could have been tidier. There could have been a kettle in the room. As for Europeans first time in the US, the funny thing for us was the bedding;)

Check in and check out was simple. It was fairly comfy. Went down for drinks and that process was simple as well.

I didn't like that my partner couldn't pay for drinks for us. It had to be me(which is fine it's a small and tiny complaint lol) the other thing I didn't like was that you could HEAR EVERYTHING. There were people coming in and out and you could hear them talking like every word was heard and also hear all the doors and everything slam. It was rough lol.

King Hotel was a good value for the price. We felt safe in the neighborhood where it was located, which conveniently was not too far from two subway lines either. The place felt safe and was clean. I liked that there was a mini fridge and microwave in the room. The staff were courteous and professional. I plan to book with King Hotel again the next time I stay in Brooklyn.

The hallways could use more soundproofing to dampen the noise. One thing I found weird was that there wasn't any hand soap in the bathroom, so we were using the soap dispenser that was in the shower. I didn't mind having to ask the front desk for an iron, but it would be helpful if they could provide an ironing board as well. If there were coffee makers and supplies in the rooms, that would be amazing ;)
