Rivers Edge Motel

The staff is wonderful! They were friendly, personable, and engaged in day to day conversation with us. I asked what was going on at The Island on Saturday, and without hesitation the manager made a quick phone call to find out. We asked to stay an additional night in our room and they happily accommodated us. By far the best hospitality I've come across! I'm very picky about how a room looks, feels, and smells, noticing details most people don't, and our room exceeded my expectations! It was newly remodeled with modern furnishings that were unexpected for this small, quaint, riverside motel. All rooms are non smoking (yes!). And the balcony overlooking the river was the best! I was traveling with my aging mom who doesn't get around as well as she used to, so we spent most of our time relaxing on the balcony, watching the geese and ducks and people tubing down the river. We would wave and interact with them as they came past us, and we laughed and just had the best time together ❤ We will definitely be returning in the next couple months and bringing my husband with us. I will always cherish the memories made with my precious mom at River's Edge.

It was a good location. There is a rock mining across the street and walking distances to some shops. The staff was all very nice.

No early check in and in fact our room had a late check in as it wasnt ready. They did compensate without asking, so that was nice. The room smelled of smoke and was hot. A/C didnt work well. I reported it but noone came and no compensation for that. The river was nice but no way to get down to the rivers edge. They are trying to renovate some but I just felt dirty being here. Mainly because i was hot and i smelled of old smoke. I didnt take any interior photos. The room had good space though.

I don’t typically choose to stay at a motel but based on reviews we decided to give it a try. Trip Advisor didn’t steer us wrong. The hotel is very clean and comfortable! Even the beds were fantastic compared, very comfortable! The balcony’s are so relaxing and peaceful! We enjoyed coffee in the morning on our back porch rocking chairs and enjoyed the water. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating as well! It is located in a great spot and within walking distance to several restaurants and activities. We have already booked a return trip in the coming months!

The front desk and housekeeping ladies were friendly and helpful! The view and sound of the river were so peaceful. The beds and pillows were very comfy. It was super clean, thanks to Ashlee 🙂. You can walk to a couple of places to eat, which is nice.

The shower was hot, but the pressure wasn't the greatest. You could hear the cars driving up and down since it was so close to one of the main roads. It was a little pricey for not having any amenities unless the office was open, and that was where the ice machine was.

Perfect location, with the river flowing right outside. The beds and pillows were so very comfortable. The sweet housekeep told me they’re brand new. We stayed in several locations this trip including a cabin and higher end hotel and the mattress at River’s Edge was better than the others combined.

It was not fun to arrive and find a sign on the door telling me to drive to another location for check in. Tired and ready to get settled, although it wasn’t far, it was an inconvenience. Although it is a non smoking hotel, and there are clear signs on balcony doors NOT to smoke even out there, the folks in the room next to us smoked a LOT and my son with asthma wasn’t able to enjoy the balcony and beautiful view. I know that is not the hotel’s fault though. The room had no microwave.

Location was wonderful. Beautiful view over the river. Very large balcony, was highly impressed with that. Clean, well maintained room, bath and balcony. Would Absolutely stay here again! We usually avoid "motels" or places with outside room access vs inside room access but thus place was wonderful! You won't regret.

Nothing, everything was wonderful! If I had to say one thing I'd say better toiletry supplies. They were cheap and super tiny. Otherwise wonderful! Parking can be a bit tight, being right off the main road.

This was one of my favorite places to stay on a 2+ week long road trip through national parks. The room was impeccably clean, the hot water and AC work great, very comfortable beds, walking distance to just about everything in Cherokee, and best of all, you have a balcony overlooking the river to sit on and relax. Also, the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and made it clear when checking in that if I had any concerns (including complaints), to please let them know. The rooms have fridges, and there's free coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the lobby, as well as a microwave that the staff let me know I should feel free to use and make myself at home. Highly highly recommend and I'd honestly drive out of my way just to return to this hotel in the future.

Literally nothing - this place was so great.

The view from the balcony was awesome early morning and late afternoon’s. Room was extremely clean and staff was as nice as she could be. We have stayed at Harraha’s and after staying here we will not be back to the casino to stay. I’m gonna say with question this was the best lil place we have stayed at in Cherokee.

Parking was a lil bit tight just due to being so close to the road but if needed there is ample parking across the street.

The staff was very helpful. This is an older motel that has been refurbished and it is very nice. Our balcony overlooked the stream. Bed was comfortable and everything was nice. This location worked really well for us on a short trip through for the night. We took a walk and there is a nice trail to walk if you cross the stream by foot bridge just south of the motel.

As was explained in the listing, the steps to the second floor are steep. It was not a problem for us 72 and 79, but it could be if you have any issues with stairs. Just a heads up thing more than not liking: The office closes at 9, but another property the owners also manage answers for emergencies. That wasn't an issue for us. As is mentioned in the reviews I read before reserving the room, the motel is directly on the street and the parking is tight. We managed, but if it had been very busy it would have taken a while to get out from the parking space.

I absolutely loved my stay. The Smokey Mountains were just a quick drive away and there’s to many beautiful things to see. My room was very clean and comfortable. I also loved that the river was literally outside my balcony. Staff was nice and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

I have to be very careful with parking. Parking area is very small and right against the main road. I did hear a couple of cars speeding when I was sleeping but it didn’t bother me. It might be a problem for sensitive sleepers.
