The room was clean and the beds comfortable.

The curb appeal was not very inviting. When driving into the parking lot the place looks run down, but once inside the building the place is nice and clean. The parking lot is too compact for big vehicles.

I was approached by a stranger while packing up my car to leave. The person was selling what appeared to be a stolen gold necklace. He was not happy I did not pay much attention to him.

I liked that it was a secure hotel in which you needed your door key to be able to access the lobby so that the transient people outside could not invade the hotel. The bed was exceptionally comfortable for the most part except for using feather pillows which made it hard on our necks. The breakfast was very similar to that served at a holiday inn which made it enjoyable. I most liked that after being out in the hot sun to walk into our room and it feels nice and cool sure is relaxing and refreshing.

They say they have a hot tub but no swimming pool which during the summer a pool is nice so that you can relax so this is definitely a down side of the stay. It was slightly difficult for us as our room was on the 4th floor. I realize that there may have been a lot of people staying and that they were remodeling it would have been nice on a lower floor had it been available. I found it really inconvenient that to get ice I had to walk half way across the floor lengthwise to find an ice machine, rather than have it near the elevator.

It is clean and they have hot breakfast every morning. For my purposes, Portland was just my home base to do hiking at Columbia River Gorge, Silver Falls State Park, Cannon Beach, and Mt Hood National Forest. So location was fine and it is about a 20 minute drive to the airport.

There is a homeless encampment nearby so the area isn't the greatest in my opinion but this is an issue in general for Portland. There isn't much of a wi-fi signal inside the room. I was in room 327. The only place I had a decent signal, roughly 3 bars, was by the entry door/sink. However, there is good signal in the first floor. I had reported it twice but it really never got resolved during my stay so I mostly used my data plan when in my room. And finally, the hot breakfast certainly was nice but I didn't honestly care for the eggs. I think it was the powdered eggs kind. Definitely not the scrambled eggs I make at home so I had to put a lot of ketchup to make it edible.

The staff was very accommodating, professional and courteous. It was a pleasure staying at the inn. The room was affordable, clean, comfortable and spacious. I called ahead and made specific requests about where to sleep and storage, the front desk was happy to oblige. We also loved that our room came with free breakfast. Every morning there was something new and the food was delicious.

There is a liquor store and gas station where there are a lot of homeless people around. It didn't really affect us but just makes it seem like it's not the safest environment. However, looks can be deceiving because the security kept the cars and people safe. We had a wonderful stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The lobby was warm and welcoming. Everything felt clean and well maintained. The bed was comfy. (I’d venture to say the pull out couch was less comfy, but my kids didn’t seem to mind or say anything.) Breakfast each morning was well supplied and offered quite a lot of options. The breakfast variety each day was nice too.

The only negative is that there are a lot of homeless people in the area and some tend to wander through the parking lot at times. I never felt unsafe, but I was extra conscious of what was left in the truck. The hotel did a great job of creating security. The building was locked and key required to enter or being buzzed in by desk staff.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially at the time of night when we got there. Room had plenty of space and was well supplied of teas and coffees. Also free refreshments were available in the reception areas with free cookies all day. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of food.

We had a bit of an inconvenience when we arrived as our friends picked us up from the airport but left us at the other Country Inn and Suite. When booking do check at which one you are staying. However, the lady at reception called a taxi for us and we were dropped at the correct hotel. The noise from the highway was probably the only downside for the room, but we managed to get a good night sleep anyway. Although breakfast was very good, at the time when we went for breakfast there were not enough seating places, although all the food was good, the scrambled eggs were overcooked.

All of the staff were friendly, everything was clean and breakfast was good! You can tell the lobby was renovated recently and they seem to be updating everything slowly. It was pet friendly. There was a mini mart right next door which was convenient. Parking lot was large and free which is nice. The staff were all helpful and did their best to make us feel comfortable and welcome!

The hallways and rooms need to be updated a bit. The hallway had a smell to it. It was clean! But smelled like old messes which is something you can't just clean out. I'm assuming they're in the middle of renovating the place though. Another thing was our toilet kept not flushing. I was able to fix it myself but I had to keep doing it. Another downside unfortunately was the pillows. They didn't offer any other pillows besides down pillows which my family and I are severely allergic to. So we had to use our blankets or towels for pillows. Every hotel I've been to in recent years offers alternative bedding for those who have allergies so it was odd that they don't offer it.

I could not get enough of the waffles. There was a lot of food, and other than a shortage of milk toward the end, I didn’t hear one person complain about not getting enough or the hotel not having something. Throw in really nice staff, very comfortable, clean rooms, & excellent beds ands you have what all hotels should strive to be.

The only detractor there was, and it was a minor one, was the location. Though excellently positioned if you are there to go to the Expo Center, Portland Intl Raceway, or any business on Marine Dr, it lacks a good transit connection to either downtown, and unless times right even the physically short drive across the bridge can become a major undertaking due to traffic.

During our two week trip throughout Canada and the US (BC, WA and OR states) this hotel offered the best breakfast of them all. We got a really great rate for a four nights stay, really the best bang-for-the-buck of all the hotels during our trip. Great location near fast access roads, just 10+ minutes by car to Nike Factory Outlet for instance. Good reliable Wifi service. Coming from Europe I'd have to say it also offered the best coffee of all stays, and tap water was also OK, both which just isn't something you can take for granted in the US. Thumbs up!
