Historic buildings with beautiful garden and well maintained property. Large spa bathtubs in some Queen rooms. Yummy complimentary buffet breakfast with homemade danishes and eating on a lovely outdoor patio option. Restaurant and bar on site. A lot of convenient parking. Air conditioning worked well. A nice blend of New renovations while maintaining the essence of history. Wonderful lessons to be taught to children by exploring each building.

Most building have no elevators so one or 2 flights up by stairs bc of the 1734 historic buildings.

Beautiful grounds with historic houses and exceptional staff! We were there for a bridal shower and the staff let us setup early, they were very attentive and friendly to our requests, and the food was delicious!! I stayed in a farmhouse king suite which was very nice but the bed wasn’t great for my neck and spine arthritis… and that was the only issue with my stay. Be prepared to walk short steep steps up into a farmhouse room for a great workout on the glutes! We also reserved a queen suite floor that was beautiful, large, and had a fridge, keureg. and fireplace in the separate sitting room, so I recommend a ground floor room for those that cannot do the tiny steep steps.

Nothing

Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere was relaxing.

When got to the top of the stairs going to our room, the smell was strong of mustiness. It is the only negative about the property. The smell was only in the common areas on the 2nd and 3rd floors. It was not in the room. The room was in the building with the restaurant.

Beautiful location. We really enjoyed the patio seating for our breakfast. Breakfast was wonderful. Enjoyed our pre-dinner drinks at the bar, the barkeeps were fun to talk to and generous in their pours. Dinner was great.

It would be a great idea to explain the housekeeping status. They do not service rooms during the guests' stay, I guess. That's OK. I understand that, have seen it elsewhere. But it would be good if they let you know that some service would be available if requested - e.g. fresh towels etc.

Comfy and Cozy—with the personal touch of a boutique hotel but none of the attitude! Loads of old world charm. We booked on line and the desk clerk upgraded us to a suite on arrival. Superb dining on site. The staff was exceptional… even the shampoos, lotion and soaps were scented with an unusual, delicate orange blossom—honestly: couldn’t be happier with the Joseph Ambler!

I liked everything!

Property is well kept and larger than expected. Bathroom very well designed and clean. Selection of grab and go breakfast items was good. Staff very friendly.

Definitely the hardest mattress ever encountered at an inn. Very dense foam type kept the wife from getting a good night's sleep. Water in shower took quite a while to warm up, but probably because there weren't many other guests the day we stayed. No outlets near head of the bed.

Beautiful and picturesque, even while it was pouring outside

Their bar closes too early. it was 9:40 and the bar was closing down and not serving anymore. One of the best perks of staying at a hotel is the accessibility of a bar, but this one closed so early on a Friday night. The restaurant did too. Food and Staff were amazing, though. This was the only negative

Beautiful setting and loads of original features. Buildings apparently moved stone by stone. The bar and restaurant were excellent quality and not overpriced.

I am the sort of person that reads as many reviews as I can about a place when staying or eating somewhere. I take them with a grain of salt and some can be a little one sided kn the experience. I read a few not so great reviews, but many more positive so I booked. This inn far exceeded my expectations. Every staff member in encountered was so friendly and above and beyond helpful. I got in late, just before the restaurant was closing. They welcomed me in without making me feel rushed and the food and service was amazing. The property was gorgeous and the rooms very clean and comfortable. The property was once owned by William Penn who eventually sold off parts of it, 90 acres being to Joseph Ambler who built two farm houses on the property in 1734 eventually became part of the Inn. This became a working farm for generations until it was later sold and transformed into the lovely little inn it is today. There are remnants of its history all around the property. I had a wonderful experience during my stay. I travel a lot and you’d be surprised how even four star hotels fall short on cleanliness and staff. I will without a doubt come back any chance I get, even if it’s just a weekend getaway. There are no elevators, so if you can’t walk a flight of stairs you will want to ask for a ground floor room.

Not a thing.

The room was very nice, clean and quiet. Not far from a busy road, so that was impressive. Beautiful grounds for a walk after a long car ride. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water for a soak in the tub.

I couldn't find instructions for the whirlpool tub. It was loud and I didn't want to disturb any other guests, soaked without the jets. Dining facilities were closed on Tuesday, we would have liked to try it out, even if just the bar were open. Empty Tylenol bottle under the bed missed by housekeeping.
