Ivy Lodge

Super friendly and engaged staff. On arrival we got a tour of the facilities with all the need to know. The facility was great and really nice. We very much liked the Victorian style of the facility. We were provided with an extended overview of things to do in Newport, including a list of the best restaurants with information on distance to the facility up to if the restaurant provides gluten free or vegan food. The breakfast served in the morning was delicious. We were regretting that our travel schedule did only allow for two nights. We could have stayed a couple of days more.

Ivy Lodge is located on a quiet street right in the mansion section of Bellevue Avenue and walking distance to downtown. Not having to look for (and pay for) parking in downtown Newport is a big help! If you don't want to walk, it is a short Uber away and still cheaper than parking. The Inn itself is a beautiful former private mansion. Our room was lovely and overlooked the garden at the rear of the property.

Our room had a huge jetted tub, which was a nice feature, but a little hard to climb in and out of if you have any mobility challenges.

Breakfast each morning was different, and tasted great! The room was clean and comfortable, and I was delighted to see that the property had a manicured private courtyard. The house was interesting with regard to its architecture; I even took photos of the common areas to share with family and friends. Also, Don and the two ladies who assisted him were warm, welcoming, kind, and helpful. Parking was easily accessible and the location is perfect for tourists looking to explore Newport.

I wish we didn't have so much trouble picking up WiFi signals in the house, but we were easily able to use tablets and phones on cellular data instead.

Room was clean and decorated to period of house. Breakfast was awesome. Jackie and her sons were wonderful and very accommodating. The grounds were well manicured.

The room I was in I couldn’t get wi-fi. I believe they are working on updating that system. There wasn’t an elevator, which would ruin the ambiance of the historic house. Just be aware if your on second floor you will be walking up and down stairs(which are beautiful by the way).

Architecture and the grand entrance was amazing. Friendly staff, special touches like snacks and coffee and tea in the dining room available all day. Decor was beautiful. Library room was our ensuite and a was very large size. Loved the quite location just 3 long blocks to the nearest restaurants for dinner. Yet just around the corner from the Elms Mansion. Had a lovely 2 nights and 3 day stay.

A bit firmer mattress is more to our liking.

We had a lovely stay at the Ivy Lodge, a beautiful Victorian home lovingly restored as a B&B. Although our room was small, it was comfortable and the jetted bathroom tub was huge (neither of us tried it, but it looked very relaxing). The gardens on the property are pretty and well-maintained and the neighborhood is easy to walk around. The Elms is a short (5 minute) walk away. The staff was friendly and helpful (even lugging my gigantic suitcase up to our third-floor room for me!).

We were a bit disappointed in the included breakfast; the food tasted fine, but there were no options for what to eat. The offering during our stay was baked eggs, which were not cooked all the way through and it would have been nice to have a secondary option of fully cooked eggs or something else.

The breakfast both days was exceptional. The dinning room was beautiful and always decorated beautifully. There was coffee or tea available all day and special little snacks. The staff was also exceptional with service and helping navigate the city.

There was nothing not to like.

We loved the grounds, the inn, and our room and very comfortable bed as well as the tranquility.

The breakfast our fist morning wad very disappointing! The cook was a temporary replacement. The next day the owner was back and it was beautiful and delicious

very pretty and kept up well. The property was clean, easily accessible, comfortable. Food was delicious. I loved how they had cookies, tea, and coffee available throughout the day/night. Staff was available and very welcoming

bathroom soaps didn’t smell great.

Authentic old world Newport with modern amenities. Steps away from the cliff walk, mansions, and nightlife. Superb breakfast and attention to every detail. The owners thought of everything and are always on standby for special requests. Newport hotels x3 the price do not have this level of service. Thank you!
