Lodge at Palmer Gulch

Nice clean pool/hot tub, pickle ball & basketball courts, location (close to Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, & Big Chief Crazy Horse), nice to have free passes to National Presidential Wax Museum and Holy Terror Mini Golf in Keystone, clean rooms and nice patio for sitting and overlooking the property, friendly staff, coffee & creamer available all day

Dim lighting in room, TV issues (maintenance resolved though), breakfast (cereal, bagels, English muffins, fruit, yogurt) wasn’t a hot continental breakfast for the amount of the stay I expected more, however we didn’t starve😊, expensive food and extra amenities (horseback riding was $55/person for an hr trail ride making it not affordable for a family to go), restaurant closed early, weight room was minimal, skimpy on the bedding (thin comforter)

Outstanding place for family’s! There’s something for everyone to enjoy! You can stay in a room, a cabin, or camp. You can rent golf carts, side-by-sides. There’s a restaurant, gift shop, & wine. You can ride horses up trails. Pools, playgrounds, and scheduled activities everyday! Night time outdoor movies. Well thought out and only a couple miles from The Historic Mt. Rushmore! They’ll even shuttle you up for the show. The staff was very pleasant.

The hallways in the hotel get a little loud with excited kids. They can’t control themselves, lol. Not really complaining.

This is a beautiful vacation spot. I’m at the new pool was great. But we like the restaurant and the pizza and excellent ice cream parlor. It’s so handy that there’s a laundry facility and we love to pet the horses.  the breakfast was very good. 

The bed was very firm. The elevator was slow.  we had to ask at the front desk for clean towels. 

This was the cleanest, friendliest, most comfortable place we stayed on our whole trip. We relaxed the minute we walked in the door. We loved being a little off the beaten path. With the gift shop/convenience store and restaurant just across the lot we could find anything we needed. We appreciated the little decorating touches (like cute lampshades and welded door numbers). Continental breakfast was an unexpected bonus.

Location was pretty good for the things we did in the area. Our room was nice and the breakfast was just ok.

The use of our cell phones was almost non existant!! That was probably our worst complaint about the whole Black Hills experience!

We enjoyed our stay here with many families and several children. We recommend booking the cowboy dinner.

Beware of booking.com's cancellation policy vs. the site's. We ran into some problems but it wasn't the property's fault. Booking.com did not advertise honestly.

It was okay. Clean area, kept it stocked, Choices were fresh of bread and cereal. What staff members were there very friendly.

Wish it could of had waffles or something more for choices since it was limited till closing for season. Could have served cocoa since a chill in the air and we don't drink coffee. Warm breakfast would if been nice since everything there was closed for season.

We stayed in the lodge and loved the locations and amenities! We also were so happy to bring our dog. Excellent location for local sightseeing!

Maybe having more food offerings? Both restaurants were too similar.

Cabin was very nice and relaxing. Plenty of parking around cabin and picnic bench on porch was nice extra. The location was awesome. Close to Hays City and Mt. Rushmore.

Breakfast was not a breakfast. Pastries, bagels, and cereal is not a breakfast, especially if you are a diabetic. Have to go to Hays City if want food. Everything except ice cream parlor was shut down after labor day.

We loved our cabin! It was very cozy and clean. There were activities every single day for the kids and the splash pad/pool/mini golf were all free! Our child loved to visit all the horses that live on property!

The UTV’s were $330 to rent a day.
