Blue Bay Inn and Suites

Location is great, walking distance to a lot of restaurant and stores. The staff treat us with respect and helpful the whole time. We got the balcony room and we were satisfy with it including the price rate. For the future we want to become a member and we will go back soon.

I would have like if the pool hours closing time were at 11pm instead of 10pm since it was a small vacation for my family. And that the housekeeping would have come by to ask if we need it anything. And because the situation we are in with the pandemic they are not serving breakfast but at least would have being nice coffee and small packs of breakfast bar or cereal bowls with small carton of milk for the kids would have being good.

Balcony by pool didn’t feel private

Comfortable beds, clean room, king room with kitchenette was super cute, perfect size, bay view from balcony 3rd floor, curtains were appropriate for the sun on that side, noise was minimal, pool closing time is appropriate for those of us who need rest...overall enjoyed my stay.

In the shower everything has to be put on the floor, shampoo, bar soap, etc. makes it inconvenient but do-able.

The manager, Andy, checked us in and immediately made us feel welcome and at home. Upon entering our room we realized the AC wasn’t working so I called Andy on the number he gave on his business card and he came right up to check it out. Andy said he would be right back and within five minutes he returned with a new room key and helped us carry our stuff to another room where he had already turned the AC down to begin cooling the room and make sure there were no issues. Andy went above and beyond and since my daughter lives in South Padre and I’ll be visiting her there I will definitely be returning to the Blue Bay Inn. Thanks Andy!

The ac worked wonderfully considering it was an older unit. The sheets felt clean, didn't wake up with any little bug bites. Do not arrive super early. Check-in is at 4:00. Use the parking permit. I do like the pet rate though we didn't not bring ours, but definitely considering for next time. Pool was relatively nice. It seems this place is undergoing some renovations. The shower tile and ambiance was nice. We opted for a balcony room was worth it. We could see the fireworks from a neighboring motel. There is no breakfast but that is understandable. A lot of places have begun to phase it or limit that option out. There is fridge and micro. For a quick night over this is a good place for a family to stay. You get about 3 pillows per bed and one cover sheet with a comforter. Vending machines available and atm on site. Though we didn't opt in, it seems you get a discount with local business such as boat or bus charter. Also, BBQ pit available to use so that's cool. Front staff was wonderfully polite. And not just who checked us in. It seemed that whoever was at the front greeted us coming in or out.

There was only one towel per room. I believe you have to ask for them. Not a fan of that. Also, if you plan on taking more than one vehicle be prepared to purchase an additional parking permit. Do not lose your parking permit! This is not close to the beach access but conveniently located near businesses. Also feels very secure. Water pressure no bueno, very light but the water gets exceptionally hot and that's a win.

Have stayed at this facility several times. Price is right, like the balcony and view. Overlook some of the issues at the property as we only sleep there.

Dirty elevator carpet, smell in hallway. No breakfast, even a small continental, or a couple pancakes would be nice! Kitchenette has nothing to eat with or cook with. Rusty outside table, old plastic chairs, foggy glass in doors!

I appreciated the price and the quality of the room for it as well the view was great for the room I stayed in. Great for a weekend especially if you are seeking to have something above average for a good price.

Room had some cracks in it, the refrigerator was not working properly upon arriving. The view was nice but the marsh was directly between the hotel and the beach so no access to beach.

The bed was very comfortable..the bed frame was unbalanced but the sheets and pillows were very clean..the lever for the shower was loose but it still worked..when we checked in there was a half used toilet paper roll..a full one would have lasted us for the whole weekend..but we managed..the railing of the balcony was slightly loose..two light bulbs were missing in the room..I love the idea of getting a permit for the car..made me feel safe..always a space available for me

Other than that, Great location!!!! The room was immaculate clean. Smells great. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were very clean. There was hot water for the shower was very relaxing. The air conditioning was very cold. Love it. And the balcony facing the bay was perfect. I didn't have no issues with anything. I will definitely be back in the future with my friends. Oh, the desk clerks were very nice and informative.

Lack of local news. No football games representing the Texans. Have the facets in the bathroom connect to the wall. Need to update the couch. Need a coffee pot for the coffee maker.

Staff is wonderful, the owner is a great guy. They took care of us all week long, looking forward to staying again, I stay here everytime I come to the island., Upgrades look great, I know with the pandemic no breakfast but the coffee was always ready in the morning.

The hot tub wasn't working, and got a bit noisy with some of the music playing, not sure why they need it that loud. Some times after 10 at night they're still loud out by the pool and I found beer bottles on my patio a couple of mornings
