Candlewood Suites Harrisonburg, an IHG Hotel

Billy and Jason were the epitome of what front desk service, accommodation, and being personable are!! I'm in a wheelchair and Billy made sure the bed met ADA standards and even switched out frames so I could access the bed easily!

Queen bed was too small for disabled but they're upgrading to king beds. The carpet was not very clean as my girlfriends feet turned black but unnoticeable to the eye. However the hotel is going through renovations and I'm sure it will be even better. Please consider that my comments are based on now and not the upcoming renovations.

Clean, quiet, front desk staff VERY HELPFUL, POLITE, KNOWLEDGEABLE & FRIENDLY. Nice clean gym and FREE up-to-date model Washers & Dryers for use by guests, most appreciated for long stays. Left alone to work and basically quiet. The Kitchen is very nice and gives guests flexibility and the full size refrigerator and freezer allows actual freezing of food instead of a small refrigerator w/inadequate "freezing". This allows fewer trips out to the grocery store.

I thought I was booking my reservation directly through the Candlewood Suites website but when I checked in it showed I booked through Booking.com which I did not want to do as it eliminates the earning of Rewards points and other things from the hotel group. No Breakfast available at this location. Banging doors when rooms close by were cleaned, staff has to go in and out of the room but a heavy duty bumper or pneumatic closer on doors would be appreciated. Also, along those lines the doors are VERY HEAVY to hold open (especially for an accessible room) and I needed assistance each time when trying to push the cart provided by the hotel into the room.

It was nice that there was a fridge and a couple of burners and basic cooking supplies to be able to cook our own food. Really appreciated that.

I really like having a night stand and lamp on both sides of the bed. We both read before sleeping and it's a drag if the one who falls asleep first wants to shut the light and the other one wants to keep reading longer. Also a night stand to be able to put your glasses, a glass of water... I do also like the trend of some hotels not charging at all for pets or just a minimum fee like $10. If a dog is well-behaved, it really doesn't involve more cleaning and there are so many people who travel with pets. It's a bit pricey to pay 25% of your stay in addition in order to have your pet stay for one night...

Perfect location, right in the middle of everything. The road behind the hotel runs pretty much straight downtown without having to deal with traffic. The room was a great fit for a two night stay.

The only disappointment that i had is that the bed could have been a bit more comfortable, but I have slept on much worse. It maybe a result of covid, but guide to the local TV stations was available.

I was there on court business I stayed 1 night. The gentleman up front was super awesome and so was the gentleman on the morning staff. I only got coffee that morning and it was delicious and the location was excellent right near the courthouse.

The hotel was getting painted but that wasn't a big deal at all.

right off highway .. room was large with basic full kitchen. The rate for my small dog was only $25.. perfect!

As I told the morning mgr - mattress could have been a bit more comfy. he did share that they will be renovating & updating them along with rooms. I will be staying there again.

We were pleasantly surprised by the room and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! It was a very busy weekend but the staff handled it great!

We really don’t like the huge rate increases just because it was parent weekend at JMU. Not sure how that isn’t considered price gouging, but at least our room was nice.

Dead bugs on walls and room wasn't detailed clean my 4 year old found batteries and half eaten candy in the room also site said it was a smoking room but the lady at desk said said it was a nonsmoking hotel u should change that on the site

Mattress was super comfortable. Towels were bigger than most hotels. We got hot water very quickly. They have a designated area to walk dogs and even stocked pick-up bags. There was a full-size fridge with an ice-maker. Room temperatures comfortable throughout the facility.

The carpet area needed a shampoo.

I didn't personally stay here but booked for a friend of mine traveling from Canada to Massachusetts, Tennessee and back to Canada. She was very pleased with her overnight stay and will be staying again.
