Candlewood Suites Richmond - West Broad, an IHG Hotel

The location was very convenient.

I had an unexpected extremely high holding fee charge . I did my reservations through booking.com, I’m used to maybe a $50 holding fee charge when checking in for security reasons if anything happens to the room , however their charge was a fee of $200, just about the same price of getting the room , only that particular location. When making reservations, you don’t expect to have to have a charge at all or for an amount like that . In which I couldn’t cover it , so I had to get it from a family member or they wouldn’t have allowed me to even stay even when I had reservations. A big disappointment and inconvenience all in one .

We had a suite style room. It was very roomy with a pull out sofa(we didn't need to use) and recliner. A nice size kitchen with full size refrigerator. Rooms were very clean. King size bed was very, very comfortable. Free parking! This is conveniently located to family.

Only problem was that the two tvs didn't work. Network or cable box problem. No one was available the first evening to fix it. By the next day all was good. Not a big problem since we were out most of the time but it was nice to have when we got back the 2nd evening

Everything about our stay was excellent. The staff was amazing the room was clean the bed was comfortable the kitchenette was convenient and well stocked.

The only thing that I felt would have been great is to be able to cast to the TV. There were two TVs and I couldn't find anything for my 5-year-old so she ended up watching the tablet because I couldn't even cast anything.

The room I stayed in was excellent. I work in Richmond as a travel tech and stayed here 3x already because it was close to the hospital I work at.

The $250 holding fee upfront once you check in I thought was outrageously high! it was $50 before I first stayed here, the lady in the front desk said it’s under new management now and that they changed the fee to $200. I asked what if people don’t have $250 on their card once they checked in( after they made reservations), and she said they can’t check them in even though they made reservations already. and I am not sure if the $250 is in the description before you make reservation. So until then, I think I am going somewhere else. I really loved my stay here but that $250 fee kind of threw me off. S/N. the $250 applies only if you are a VA resident. not sure if you have to pay fee if you live out of state though.

The King suite is very spacious and the kitchenette is fully equipped. Really like having the extra space and being able to spread out.

The room we had this time needed a little TLC. Everything was clean but a a bit worn. Sofa needs to be replaced and cabinets are a little banged up. There was also a small dent in the wall from where the recliner hit the wall. Would not keep me from staying at the hotel again but would be nice if room was updated. Would also like to see a nicer coffee set up in lobby area. I'm a big coffee drinker so always appreciate a nice coffee bar!

For whatever reason, it’s very tough to find pet-friendly AirBnBs in Richmond. I don’t usually like staying in hotels, but Candlewood Suites has the extended stay model down to a science. There is literally nothing I wanted for. The one-bedroom suite was arguably nicer than my first apartment! My husband and I were able to work from the suite all week with no issues. It’s my second stay here and I’ll definitely be back. I especially appreciate that the gym is decently equipped; I worked out every day.

I get the impression they’re a bit understaffed. It didn’t cause us any issues, but it might have for somebody. I would also love if the TVs were “smart,” meaning you could cast videos from your phone.

I was pleasantly surprised. the rooms were clean the beds comfortable. we were in town for the oddities Expo and had a hard time finding a hotel that wasn’t 200 and up. this place was about 5 miles from the convention center and was pretty center to everything we needed. I’d stay here next year for the same event.

I can’t think of anything

I loved everything about my stay. The staff was excellent about my early check in. They called me around 1:30 to let me know my room was ready. The hotel was clean and smelled fresh. The suite was lovely and very spacious. It felt like an apartment instead of a hotel. The bed and linens were so comfortable and soft. The bath towels were soft and the wash cloths thick. Everything that was supposed to white was sparkling clean and there was no hair stuck to the towels or wash cloths.

There were no complaints

The room was clean and smelled clean. They are in transition with the ac units so one room didn’t work well but it was still comfortable. The first suite we had the tv in the master room didn’t work so front desk offered us a king suite for our troubles!! Customer service is amazing and prompt.

Ensure the internet works on all tvs. Other than that I have no complaints.

The entire facility was clean and was very relaxing. The room was outstanding, especially for the cost, and even though I was only staying one night, it would be great for a longer stay. I would highly recommend staying here whether its for business or pleasure.
