It was more enjoyable to stay in a nicely renovated older historic hotel in the downtown rather than a typical chain hotel remote from downtown.

· I could very clearly hear a guest in an adjacent room every time he urinated, as though there was little or no sound proofing between our room and his. The name of the hotel should not have been changed. Everyone can learn something about US history--the good and the bad--by reading about Stonewall Jackson. Who is going to be inspired to learn more about history by the name Hotel 24 South?

This hotel was very central to everything I was interested in, although downtown Staunton is rather small. It was a couple of blocks from the Woodrow Wilson birthplace/museum/library; it was a reasonable walk to the Mill Street Grill (which was viewable from my 5th floor room window); and was adjacent to the BlackFrairs theatre. The hotel has an older feel to it, and the king-bed room was a little small but comfortable. I appreciate being able to digitally adjust the climate. The bed was very comfortable and the shower water was very hot, although I did shower later in the morning than most people, I think. The staff were very helpful and friendly when I called from my room and when I had questions at the front desk. I missed the breakfast buffet on Sunday due to sleeping late. It was a very cozy stay.

I wish the curtains were blackout curtains or at least closed together a little more tightly. That was my only real gripe. The banquet hall is basically right in the lobby, but beyond some doors, so the lobby area was very noisy with dance music bumping through when I arrived late in the evening. Not a big deal unless someone was wanting to sit quietly in the lobby and socialize. I had a drink in the lounge, and that was a bit overpriced, even for a hotel (almost $14 for a Makers Mark bourbon and coke). But it was a good drink, strong.

The breakfast was fantastic! Best breakfast buffet I’ve been to for a long time!

We did enjoy our stay, but there were a few cleanliness issues. The side of one of our queen beds was dirty. The white vent above the food in the dining room was dirty (black), along with some of the windows in the dining room. The Hotel was really charming though, in a great location. We did have a nice time. We just hoped it was a little cleaner.

It was a great location. Very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Hotel has an interesting history. Great checkout time.

Rooms were small. No mini-fridge to store things. Water in shower did not work well. Needs to be fixed. No real concerns. Just wish the rooms were bigger and had a little more atmosphere. Disappointed no breakfast was included. Breakfast was offered but was $15 a person. For what the room cost they should provide a few simple items.

Check in staff was very friendly and actually found us a better rate than we had booked. We love downtown boutique hotels where we can walk to restaurants and shops. The hotel was lovely, especially the lobby and bar area.

We were disappointed that there wasn't a hot breakfast available, one of us is gluten free so grab 'n go is challenging, but we understand that many hotels have had to cut back their dining services for various reasons. Also, it was a really quick walk to Cranberry's Grocery for a good breakfast, so it wasn't a problem.

The location was very convenient for walking to restaurants and shops. The grab bag breakfast was an added bonus.

The fact that we didn’t have the restaurant open and no daily maid service and bare minimum towels and wash clothes, which I asked maids in hallway for additional and was given more of, made me wonder if we should have been given some credit off our room rate or been given free parking instead of the daily $7.50 charge. Also, the bathroom tub has stains that are very unappealing for a newly renovated hotel.

We arrived in time for lunch at the By & By-- about 100 ft from the hotel. Then we saw a matinee at the American Shakespeare Center, which is literally next door to the hotel. We wandered around town a bit and then ate at the hotel -- reeeeally yummy burgers. I was worried at first that the burger was only 6 oz (It's bar food, not meant to be a meal, I think.) but it was filling and fantastic...AND I did not feel bad about having some amazing gelato from the place 2 blocks away afterwards!

This hotel is an absolut gem. Beautifully renovated, the hotel offers the charm of a Grand hotel. Just spend some time in the lobby! The rooms are spacious, bright and clean. The hotel is well located, with cafes, restaurants and old town right around the corner. Staff is very friendly and helpful. No large screen TVs and only subtle classical miscue in the background. What a difference this makes.

The hotel currently does not serve breakfast; and the bar is also only open a couple days/week. Hopefully both can fully open soon again.

The location was perfect and the staff excellent. The room was well maintained and clean. It was nice to have coffee in the room.

We had a view of a wall and would have been nice to open a window. It felt a bit claustrophobic. It was nice to have somewhat of a breakfast, but it seemed to be all sugar and overdone, very cold boiled eggs. Totally understand the Covid influence, but even a plain dry room temperature bagel would be better than overly sweet packaged muffins. Would have loved to have had a small room fridge.

The room was the perfect size, clean and comfortable. It was located next door to the theater and half a block away from Beverly Street with great shopping and excellent food. They also welcomed our dogs and didn't just give lip-service to being dog-friendly. The lounge was a great place to hang out too.

The breakfast buffet was okay but ordinary.
