Howard Johnson by Wyndham Staunton

It's a basic no frills, serves its purpose kind of place. It's stumbling distance to a few breweries and a great base for exploring the many charms of Staunton.

I'm not sure if the retro 50's vibe is a plus or a minus.

Staff was friendly, room was clean and very quiet. Only thing missing was a refrigerator but we got along without it. Probably have rooms with them if you ask. Was in walking distance of the restaurant area. Also had a breakfast which was a bonus. Not many places with them today. It was simple but had Coffee, cereals, orange and cranberry juices, milk, bread, bagels, english muffins and waffles to toast. Jellies, butter and peanut butter. Bananas and Apples. Would recommend this place.

I liked how Polite the staff was how clean the room was and how the front desk lady made sure I was put in a room where it was more quiet as soon as she found out i worked nightshift and slept during the day ! The pool and view was nice as well!

The staff were very nice and helpful. Our room was beautiful and clean. Breakfast was good, and I was so grateful I could take it up to our room. The bed was comfortable for me , so I slept great.

The only bad thing was that the bed wasn't firm enough for my husband. But this is why we have a sleep number bed at home.

I liked the room very much. The service was excellent - they attended to my room every day and made certain that I had everything I needed

The breakfast was minimal, but what they had was fine.

Received very welcoming greeting on arrival. Had never been in that part of Staunton and didn't realize it's historical history. Missed having a frig to store cool items. Enjoyed eating at the Chinese restaurant across the parking lot. Would stay here again.

I was thrilled to find out how very close we were to downtown Staunton and the Blackfriar theater. Also that the outdoor pool at the hotel was available to us. We are older travelers, who find walking difficult, but using t he New st. parking garage (free) which took us to Beverley St. for shopping, dinner, music, etc. and also right around the corner from the Shakespeare theater , our weekend was wonderful. I was very happy with my choice of Howard Johnson.

Really like the Mary Baldwin University was a couple of block from the Howard Johnson Hotel….Restaurants were at walking distance….Hotel was very clean, as well as the bed being very comfortable….. definitely will stay again when visiting Staunton, Virginia

Price was very reasonable. Front desk staff was very friendly and cooperative. Location was attractive.

Older property was clean and comfortable, but could use some significant refreshment.

This hotel has not had a full scale renovation in years. While it did look like the carpet and bed linens were new, the bathroom is old.
