Raintree's Sandcastle, Birch Bay

Great location on the beach front with a beautiful view of the wooded valley for the rear-facing units. Very close to dining, cafe, and a liquor store all in walking distance with the general market a nice short stroll away. The location is stellar! Birds singing and chirping at all hours of the day. If you are an early riser the beach and woods and trail behind the resort are so peaceful and beautiful in the early morning. The one bed unit was very clean and spacious. All the amenities were very well maintained. There's a rooftop patio with an amazing view, heated pool, hot tub, and club room on the top level. We stayed for our 5 year dating anniversary and the one year countdown to our wedding and they provided us with a lovely little gift basket of snacks and goodies and a personalized card! It was very sweet! All the staff were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Jeanie in particular was absolutely wonderful! We would definitely go again!

The couch is not the comfiest to relax on. It was a pull out bed couch and it wasn't comfortable either way you lounged. Small detail as the main bed was extremely comfortable! The local business map provided was a bit hard to read and could use some editing & reviewing for spelling and layout, but we used it with the Blaine map & pamphlet from the maps section in the lobby and it was helpful. We did need to borrow a corkscrew from the concierge as we could not find one in our kitchen. Very small things in an overall wonderful stay.

We stayed here for our wedding that was taking place at the Semiahmoo State Park. First of all, the location was excellent. We loved that this property was right next to the water. Second, the staff especially Jeanne, we’re so kind and helpful. My parents had a last minute chance of plans and wanted to stay at the same property as us. She gave us the instructions to do so as this property does not do reservations in person. A room that had a better view from ours was available and we were able to move over to that room and my parents took our original room. She was so accommodating and so friendly. We truly loved our stay and would highly recommend this place.

i love the location. And the layout of the rooms is good and has just about everything one needs. some units have good views. the staff were extremely helpful and responsive.

I don’t like that there is no way to reserve or guarantee a particular room (with water view vs eastern view). and I really don’t like the noisy mechanical equipment on the south side of the building that runs 24/7. fortunately the staff went out of their way to move us to a quieter unit after the first night. (I am especially sensitive to mechanical sounds. maybe other people wouldn’t mind it).

Proximity to beach. Pool and hot tub. Our room location was great ! The sunset view from the club room area was amazing. The weather, and the resident herons and eagles were a real attraction during our stay. The availability of towels and supplies and the cheerful demeanor of the staff members was nice.

The second room was not available for check in until 6 pm instead of 4.

Our room #216 is above restaurant roof and when it’s raining downspouts making a lot of noise, impossible to sleep. I had to put something soft like a folded hand towel on the bottom of the spout to reduce noise. There is three of them and I can reach only one of them from the balcony. It wasn’t pleasant task. I removed towel in the morning. Do something about it please!!!

However, SANDCASTLE, BIRCH BAY PROVIDED EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE THROUGHOUT AND CAME UP WITH PLEASANT SOLUTIONS.

Error in reservation confirmation -Sandcastle, Birch Bay took full blame. Waste of time- consuming hours to find the issue for many on all levels of their staff and Booking.com. Very stressful for me, the guest.

The location, suite was very roomy. Clean, very nice. Beautiful view Rooftop view even more amazing the maintenance guy was very nice and fast to respond when the fuse blew from the use of microwave and dryer etc.

We loved everything! The staff, especially Jeanne, were wonderful. Our room was comfortable and cozy. We loved our patio on the 5th floor. We had ocean views on one side and Mount Baker on the other side. The beds and pillows were comfortable. It was a fantastic stay! We used the grill one night and it was fun.

I wish there were a couple of water bottles, or a Britta pitcher with water available when we arrived. We had a very long day traveling and it would have been a nice addition. We needed to take medicine and weren't sure about the water (found out later the water was good to drink). Sadly, the club room, the pool, and the jacuzzi, were all closed, but we still had a great time!

The location is great, the features of the space were wonderful, its perfect for extended stays. Full kitchen and plenty of room to spread out. Think of it more like an apartment building that acts like a hotel.

I try to contact Raintree to let them know that I made the reservation with my card, but my husband was bringing his credit card, there was no way to contact them. I kept getting a number for their parent company. Once my husband checked in all was fine, but that was concerning. My husband and son had a great father son trip in the winter, but when we read that there is no AC, that meant we will steer clear in the summer time.

We have had many family vacations here. It is a reasonable drive from Seattle. The rooms are generous sized. The beach and swimming pool are favorite activities to enjoy. There are parks near by to visit. The roof top deck is a great place to enjoy a bar b que.

There is nothing I could have thought that would have made our stay better....maybe more sun!
