Open Hearth Lodge

When making last minute vacation plans,I booked Open Hearth Lodge based on the affordability,but also the pictures/reviews made it look like it was going to be a decent place for a last minute getaway,but I was completely wrong! Open Hearth Lodge completely went beyond my expectations! First I’ll start with the room. The room was excellent with a full kitchen (everything you would need other than groceries!) balcony and jacuzzi tub and fire place were lovely. This place is wonderful for dog owners as they go above and beyond! The property was beautiful,peaceful and very clean. The staff was also very kind and helpful (Jack was wonderful!) I highly recommend and we will be back every time we are headed to Door County.

Open Hearth Lodge was WONDERFUL! Almost a cross between a hotel/lodge and bed and breakfast place. Multiple areas to sit and relax by a fireplace visit with family/ friends, read a book, play games, etc. My sister and I enjoyed playing a couple games of cribbage on the super comfy furniture by the front lobby fireplace. John, Jack, and Laney were all fantastic hosts!!! John and Jack would remotely open the front door for us when they saw us coming which was SUPER nice and helpful when our arms were full l! Laney is a SUPER talented singer/ songwriter /guitarist who performs in the Nest Lounge at Open Hearth on some Saturdays. Her talent will blow your mind!!!! Beautiful voice!!! She should be the next American Idol!!! Breakfast is included and had a great variety of selections. Nice warm pool and toasty hot tub! Outdoor firepits, 6 acres of open and wooded grounds to walk on. This is a family owned and operated lodge. Pride of ownership definitely shows in everything they do and all the little extra touches. We were told the grandfather did the beautiful woodwork accents on the lodge hall walls. They have a nicely stocked pantry of food and beverages available all hours for purchase. If they see you during the day out and about the lodge they will ask you if there's anything you need and how your day is. I will DEFINATELY be back with my hubby and two dogs as Open Hearth Lodge is very dog friendly!

Not a darn thing. Everything was WONDERFUL!!!

Breakfast was good. Carb Heavy options (small packaged small muffins, donuts, bagels, english muffins, no bread available. Hard boiled eggs were available as well. 24 hour Door county coffee was good. 2 options for coffee was Turtle and cherry cream. facility was clean and organized. Dog friendly. Gas grill was a flop as the knobs were broken and you couldn't even read where the gas settings were. A new grill would be a good start to upgrade the nice outside patio they have. Patio was nice. tables and umbrellas were nice. play set for kids needed a little maintenance, but def. workable. 2 sets of cornhole boards. The swimming pool room was very, very hot temperature. couldn't just sit in the room to watch the kids as it was too hot. Had to open the door to try to cool the room down, which then let in colder air. Well lit. Parking was good. We would stay here again.

John and his staff always do their best to meet the needs of their guests. This was our 2nd stay at OHL and we have never overheard anything but good things amongst the guests. The location is perfect to access all areas of Door County and the breakfast has something for everyone. We love the gas firepits outside, they are perfect for winding down after a busy day. We will always stay here when we visit. It meets all of our needs.

We had such an enjoyable weekend staying at the Open Hearth Lodge for our first trip to Door County. John, the owner and first face you were greeted with each day was a real pleasure. Knowledgable about the area and attractions, and very accomodating. The location itself put us within a short driving distance of all the popular local destinations, Sister Bay, Ephraim, Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, Baileys Harbor. The lodge has a beautiful backyard court yard with fire pit that we ended each night at. It has a pool, hot tub, fitness room. We didn't eat breakfast on site but it sure smelled good in the morning. House keeping doesn't come in unless requested but we followed procedure and left our soiled towels in the provided laundry bag outside the door for exchange which was quick and easy. Beds were firm but still comfortable and our room was very spacious. The entire hotel and our room was very clean, probably the cleanest we've stayed at. We have already recommended this location to our neighbor who will be visiting in the near future. I'd also like to thank John for providing the coolers with beer, wine, soda and snacks. My husband was a happy man being able to grab a $3 beer on our way to our room each evening and just drop cash in the cash box. We have never seen a hotel do this honor system before. We would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

We had an excellent time there loved swimming and hot tub was great. The owners are very very nice guy enjoyed talking with him he went out of his way if you needed. Would definitely stay again!

The only issue we had that we just lived with was the second bed was so squeaky and kind of annoying. It almost seemed off like didn't sit right or something.

Breakfast choices were excellent. I loved the pancake maker. The pancakes were made fresh and with an interesting shape . The place was clean and the rooms were beautifully decorated. The outdoor fire pits and the spacious property was well maintained. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to door county . And they allow pets which is one of the few places that do.

Stayed longer to enjoy the pool, hot tub and dry sauna.

The owner was super friendly & very helpful. Very pretty place with nice decor throughout. Room & building were very clean and well maintained with a nice, homey feel. The 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment was perfect for 2 adults & 4 kids! Spacious and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Loved the hot tub in the gazebo with the large windows & the rope lights! Everyone we met at the Lodge was very friendly! Would definitely recommend this place if staying in Door County!!!

Gym in basement was nice but a little on the darker side. Could possibly use better lighting. Could also use a few more food items to sell on site for those who didn't pack enough or don't want to go out to eat or pick up food (no delivery options from local establishments when we stayed) I didn't see an ATM machine so unless I missed it, that would be a great addition.

The owner/manager was extremely friendly, curteous, and welcoming. The environment there was very warm and inviting. I enjoy a hotel that has multiple areas to relax. As opposed to most hotels that only have a lobby, this place has a rear patio and multiple outdoor firepits! We look forward to returning. If you plan to travel with a group, Open Hearth should be at the top of the list.

Quaint, homey feel. very clean room. Great outdoor patio/fire pit area, large hot tub/pool areas. Wonderful complimentary breakfast each morning. Hardworking owner, lives on site and always seemed to be available if needed. There are communal books & games as well as movies you can check out. Pet friendly. Great location, set back off the highway. Only about 1 mile to Sister Bay for restaurants & shops with access to a nice, paved walking trail into town as well.
