East Hotel and Apartments

We booked an apartment for a family of four, and we were given two interconnecting rooms which was perfect for us. Once the kids were in bed, we had plenty of space to relax and wind down over a drink and a movie. Chromecast was a nice touch. The restaurant, Agostinis, was full for dinner, but the staff happily arranged for delivery to our room. Pizzas were delicious. Great location; spacious rooms; nice modern decor. We had a great stay and would definitely book here again. Thank you!

Just a couple of minor things: More towel rails in the bathroom would be good. I'm also not a fan of the doona/duvet being wrapped in sheets rather than a fully enclosed quilt cover. It comes apart too easily and then the doona/duvet is exposed.

We love staying here, the rooms are spacious, you have a mini kitchenette so you can easily make yourself yummy breakfast, there is a coffee pod machine & milk supplied, toaster, frypan, plates, cutlery etc... We stayed in a lux suite this time which gave us the added bonus of a small balcony & spa bath in the bathroom, not just a shower so this was a bonus when travelling with my son as he loves baths. Good wifi, easy to walk anywhere or Uber if going a bit further away. You can easily walk to coles for supplies if your staying a few days. The parking downstairs is an added bonus, we didn't need it this time but it's a huge plus having easy access with your car in a safe carpark to come & go as you need.

Last time we ordered room service and that was great. This time we thought we would go eat & drink downstairs at the restaurant & bar, but it wasn't as good. Which did surprise me, we got the wrong drink, dinner was disappointing and we left quite quickly as it wasn't enjoyable. The next night we ordered room service - this time we go the right drink & a good meal. I don't know why the room service is better than dining in, but I would certainly recommend the room service over eating downstairs and the room service is super fast!

The one bedroom apartment was clean, roomy and stylish. The bathroom was huge and the shower amazing. Beds were comfortable linen good quality. The soundproofing in the room was effective despite facing the pub directly across the road and an event on the Friday night on the foyer on the floor below. Staff were friendly and efficient. The decor and ambiance were very nice. Loved the fact that there was a few options under the hotel for food and relaxing such as the Muse Cafe, bookshop and reading room as well as Joes Bar and the Italian restaurant.

The hotel was very hot in the common areas and air conditioning in unit 219 was noisy making a continuous high pitched rattling sound and did not work well. Lightning in the kitchen area was very dim and the stove top overhead extractor light had to be used to see what you were doing even when not cooking. Despite the provision of a coffee machine there were no tea bags or sugar in the kitchen and the cookware was quite old and dirty. The kitchen was well equipped except for the absence of cooking utensils which was puzzling as there were a range of saucepans and frying pans etc. Glasses and cutlery had dirt and finger prints on them which meant washing everything prior to use.

We loved our stay at East Hotel. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We loved that the hotel had underground parking ($20/night but worth it). Easy check in, easy check out. The room was nicely presented and we especially loved being able to Chromecast to the TVs, and order room service through the touch pad. The food at both Muse and Agostini's was delicious. Compliments to the chef & wait staff at Agostinis's for arranging a beautiful birthday plate of cupcakes and macarons we brought along for our twins birthday. We will definitely come back again and be recommending East Hotel to friends and family.

The hotel room layout is very comfortable (we've stayed in both a studio and 1 bedroom). We LOVE the free bicycles which we've used to bike around the lake bike path and to reach Kingston restaurants. Parking is below the hotel at an extra fee, if booked through booking.com. The hotel's Italian restaurant has great pizza, and the bottle shop across the street provides easy access to all beverages, including milk. There is also another pub/restaurant across the street.

We had difficulties using certain APPs on the hotel wifi, or adding an HDMI cable to the television to view streaming apps.

Great location, good coffee, cafe and bookshop downstairs plus restaurant, good pub across the road, easy walk to Kingston and Manuka shopping precincts. Cool decor, very comfortable apartment, good bath and bathroom, my apartment was much lighter than the very dark images depict (a good thing)

Had to pay an extra $20 a day for parking when my search criteria included « free parking » so be aware when booking through booking.com that free parking only applies to direct bookings

East hotel is a wonderful place to stay. It's within walking distance of restaurants, cafe, waterfront and Manuka Oval. Additionally, there are lovely facilities downstairs - a cafe, a bar and a restaurant. The rooms are immaculate and well sound proofed.

The only complaint I have is the bathroom having no door (there are separate frosted glass doors on the shower and toilet, but the bathroom area is open to the rest of the unit). In this instance I was sharing with my daughter so privacy wasn't an issue, but if I was there with a friend it could have been a little awkward.

This hotel is quite unique in Canberra - it has a very modern and beautiful interior design aesthetic, and an outstanding restaurant and cafe. The location in Kingston is excellent if you are in Canberra to see the sights or on business. The service ethos of the staff was terrific. We didn’t have time to use the free guest bikes but have done this before when our kids were younger and that was a lot of fun

The pillows

We have stayed at East a number of times over recent years, and it has always been enjoyable. The hotel is conveniently located, the staff friendly and helpful and the facilities excellent.

We had to request a room change as our original room was too close to the Gym, and noise from equipment was audible in the room. The gym is available 24/7, and this seems excessive and should be reviewed. The change was affected quickly and without fuss. We also had a slight problem with billing, which was also dealt with promptly.

The room was large, clean and very comfortable. it’s probably the only hotel room I’ve ever stayed in which had a) full sized mugs, b) fresh - not UHT but fresh - milk in the fridge and c) great tea. all guest information, room service etc is accessed via an electronic tablet in the room so very easy to use. The lobby and on-site breakfast cafe / bookshop are inviting, their food and coffee is great. I didn’t eat at the restaurant but got room service from there which was delicious. I won’t stay anywhere else in Canberra after this.
