Criterion Hotel Perth

The helpfulness and friendliness of the staffs special mentioned staff William from Indonesia and Arina from Singapore . Both helped me in directing how to go to my destination and finding pharmacy when I need to buy medication. William arranged a quieter room after knowing I am a light sleeper Arina allowed me to put luggage at storage room first instead of I bringing up to my room because tour bus was waiting . Appreciate it Before my arrival in perth , criterion hotel already assured my booking and settled the refund issue instead of my own bank in my country Personally I like the security in Criterion, witnessed how William asked the person outside the main door , those questions carefully before opening the main door Thank you Criterion hotel

WiFi , connection not stable

We got the standard, not renovated room, and were actually surprised for the better. While it's definitely dated, I do appreciate the advantages: right in the center of downtown - very comfortable location, the staff is kind, reasonably clean, dated but fine bathroom (what's with that curtain?). There's a kettle for coffee and tea, a minifridge, a safe, a closet, a TV, AC and stable wifi - so the facilities aren't bad actually. You can park nearby and pay 9$ for the night.

It just feels old, all of it. Not that bad as some other customers described - that' my opinion. Can recommend it for those who prioritise location.

This was the second of two stays at The Criterion. Unlike our first single night stay, the room met expectations this time. The staff continue to be exceptional and the location is perfect.

We stayed for three nights and during this time the cleaning staff would make the beds, top up supplies, and put out fresh towels for us, and vacuum the floor. They did not clean the bathroom however, evidenced by hair from shaving remaining on the basin and floor for all of our stay.

I traveled to Perth from Sydney and only booked a room for one night. Due to Labor Day, the hotel was full and I had no place to stay. I had to go to the hotel one day in advance to store my luggage. The staff was kind enough to help me and asked if I could still stay. He helped me make inquiries when there were available rooms, and finally helped me book the last room. Thank you very much to this employee!

The only drawback is that the room has a bit of a smell.

The proximity to the centre of the city. I could walk to the Heath Ledger Centre to see the play I came for and walk safely back to Hay Street. For an overnight stay I had tea/coffee facilities, some fruit provided. Air con (it was hot so needed it). The bathroom was clean and provided soap and shampoo, nice towels. The bed was comfortable with nice linen and enough blankets. Flat screen TV with bedside radio. Perfect for an overnight stay. The Criterion is an old hotel but the room as described above was perfect and a budget price compared to other hotels in the area. It was fit for purpose.

Amazing location, super friendly staff, great price

The carpet was a little hard to pull my suitcase across in the lobby, not all the windows opened, the half flush on the toilet did not work, the exhaust fan in the bathroom looked like it was going to drop on me at any point, definitely needs a restyle so that it looks modern and inviting, rooms need soundproofing as can here the neighbours having a shower very clearly, the cafe is still not reopened which is a shame.

It was good value for money, & several of the staff were really kind & helpful, booking us a taxi for early one morning to get to the airport. The Gentleman that works on the desk throughout the night is really helpful - thank you for your great suggestions on jogging routes each morning.

There wasn't much atmosphere within the hotel itself, & no communal reception area. We understand though that it is currently going through redevelopment works, so this may change.

The staff, especially William, were very helpful with local information like the best restaurants and how to move around the city of Perth. The location is right in the heart of Perth. It cost was $105 a night which is reasonable in 2023.

The appearance and decor of the building is tired and old but a makeover may make the cost much higher.

Location is right by the historic centre of Perth, the Criterion being an iconic building, and by the shopping area with an easy walk to the waterfront. This is the fourth time I have stayed at this hotel and found my stays comfortable and convenient for amenities. The staff were helpful storing my luggage pre and post check in.

The hotel is a bit run down but suits my needs and budget

Location was great, in a secure building with friendly and helpful staff. The building itself is quite old but everything was clean and tidy. I thought it was great especially for the price!

The bed was pretty firm! Nothing really wrong with that, personal preference but I struggled a bit getting comfortable on it. Wont stop me from booking the place again, everything else made it worth t.
