Room Mate Gorka

The hotel was extraordinarily beautiful and the staff, particularly Inaki (Ignacio) was so helpful and pleasant. The location was absolutely perfect!

I think the design of the bathrooms, where you cannot have privacy or even keep the light from coming out of the door, is very poor design unless there is just one person in the room. Every time me or my husband used the bathroom at night, the other person would wake up because of the lights and sounds in the bathroom. I am not sure who thought this was a good idea. 😝 Also, the window curtain in my mother’s room (202) could not properly be closed as intended for darkness in the morning. Inaki had to come to the room with a stick to get the curtain to properly close. I think it is important to fix this problem.

Great location midway between the old town, commercial district and between the beachs; helpful staff, renovated large rooms, nice aspect overlooking Gipukoa Plaza, vibrant atmosphere.

Poor bathroom layout & design - confined toilet space, difficult shower. The room had confusing lighting switching system and the door didn’t naturally close. Wifi kept dropping out every time one left the room. Breakfast was average.

We loved the welcome provided by Alex. He gave restaurant recommendations and made us a reservation soon after arrival. We loved the clean, comfortable rooms. I always love a robe and slippers and the hotel provided that. Also, the location is AMAZING. Few blocks walk to both the seaside and the old town. Nearby MANY restaurants and shopping. On the outskirts of the late night liveliness. Also, the balcony doors are quite nice and completely block out all noise from the street below. We have a new favorite small hotel chain now. The breakfast at this hotel was REALLY wonderful and we appreciated the variety and the option to have a made-to-order egg dish each morning. This hotel really stood out for perfect location, clean and new furnishings, and really kind, genuine customer service by its staff. :)

Everything was great!

Location excellent - turn right for the old town and left for the newer end of the city. Either way you are into it in 2-3 minutes. This is a real bonus. The reception staff were really excellent and helpful at every turn. The room was stylish, decorated very tastefully, was a good size and was very comfortable in every aspect. We did not have breakfast in the hotel as there is a stunning coffee shop a few doors down.

The bar, which is next door, was a little lifeless in the evening and I think more could have been done to make it more obviously part of the hotel foyer. But there are so many places to be convivial in San Sebastian that it doesn't matter too much.

What was not to like! Position, design, style, staff all brilliant. Comfortable bed and pillow. Well positioned for the old and new parts and the beaches. Even close to buses for excursions. Staff recommendations for dinner were top class.

Breakfast could have had a little more choice, but it is a small hotel so nothing much to complain about. There could have been more unflavoured black tea. Spaniards drink coffee, so tea is very much an afterthought which means there is plenty of flavoured afternoon tea, but they were rapidly running out of normal black tea.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is very stylish with a beautiful design. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed, the beds exceptionally comfortable. The staff, especially reception were lovely friendly and helpful. We loved the position of the hotel opposite a lovely park, shops on hand and a few minutes walk to the bay. The streets of the atmospheric old town and the wonderful various tapas bars are also just a short walk away. I would happily recommend this hotel and will hopefully return one day.

If I have to find anything it would be the variable service and attitude of staff in the adjoined bar. Does not compare to the high standards we encountered in other areas.

Room Mate Gorka, although pricey, is just wonderful. The staff were truly exceptional and the level of cleanliness was out of this world. We have never before experienced such amazing levels of cleanliness from the household staff in any hotel, so take a bow everyone! The location is superb, just on the edge of the beautiful old town, and within walking distance of everything. We really loved it and could not recommend this hotel more highly.

The only thing we didn't like was the view from our hotel room. We had requested a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the courtyard, but instead of a courtyard view we were looking out at an office block! However, this was only a minor issue as, overall, this is an exceptional hotel with exceptional staff.

The staff was great! They provided a map of the city & a list of recommended restaurants. They were very attentive and accommodating. Great location in the historic core.

*Parking is not on premises & driving in San Sebastian to get to the parking structure they recommend can be stressful due to traffic & layout. * The pumps on the bottles of shampoo & conditioner mounted in the shower didn't work, so we had to get individual packets instead. *Elevator can be loud if your room is next door.

Location! Bus from the airport drops you right across the street. Lovely bakery cafe a few doors down offers great coffee and excellent breakfast and lunch options. A laundry is a 4 minute walk away. Walk to all of the wonderful destinations in San Sebastián. A short walk to the bus station for exploring other locales in Basque Country. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They held our bags after checkout til we needed to leave for the airport. Can’t say enough positive things. (….and the bed and pillows were very comfy - and I’m picky!)

Room mate Gorka was in the perfect location for us. Only a few minute walk to the old town tapas crawl and in a really nice area with streets made for walking without car traffic. Next to the river which has awesome walking and of course close to the main beach and the peninsula with the castle that has a sea wall for walking around. Bottom line is if I ever owned an apartment in San Sebastian it would be right near this hotel - perfect location

Wish they had a slightly larger lobby but it is because they have a separate cafe coffee shop there and that is nice to have for a morning breakfast and coffee.
