Hotel Kalemi 2

This is a luxurious lo family hotel ran by experienced hoteliers. Mr. Kalemi and family were there to make sure everything was perfect and guests felt special. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our room within a magnificent stone historic building. They explained to us that it had once been a mansion belonging to a well-off family. The room had elaborate woodwork in the ceiling and in the embedded armoire made by local artisans. From our room we had magnificent ever-changing views of the castle above, depending on the weather and the time of day. It was magical. The hotel has private parking for guests. Breakfast was included and can be enjoyed indoors or at different outdoor locations, including a roof terrace overseeing the entire town. We had to pinch ourselves. The hotel is in the middle of everything, within a three minute walk to the heart of Gjirokaster which is what they call the Bazaar filled with shops, cafés, tavernas, etc. The facilities were top notch, from the hot water, bathroom, bedding, air conditioning. We slept and ate like royalty.

This is just a heads up regarding reaching the property: The stone road to the hotel is steep and narrow. Make sure to have good tires and a powerful engine. We would return in a heartbeat!

Lovely room and bathroom. It's also a very central location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful at all times. We weren't given the room we booked initially but they quickly changed this and gave us a ground floor room which was very quiet and we had an excellent breakfast.

The listing says that there are certain facilities in the room that they don't actually have. We had no tea and coffee maker or mini bar/fridge in the room, although the listing said these were part of the facilities. They did put a kettle in the room but there were no cups or tea or coffee given, so we couldn't use it. However saying that they would bring tea and coffee to your room if you asked

We were concerned about driving in Gjirokaster. We picked this hotel out because it was almost a straight drive up the hill with only 2 small turns at the end. It was easy to find with the hotel's special directions. The hotel provided private parking for us as well. The staff was fabulous. They went the extra mile I stayed up late one night talking with one staff member. I learned so much about Gjirokaster from him. The rooms were very clean and beautiful. It was worth the drive up the hill in order to stay in Old Town. The location was outstanding!

The bar close by played music at night. Earlier in the evening I actually enjoyed listening to it as it was nice music. When I wasn't able to sleep, I spoke to the hotel staff about the music. They contacted the bar and the bar turned the music down.

Very good location, just a few minutes (because it's steep and stony) from the bazaar area of Gjirokaster. Aircon was good. Decor inside the room was modern, including the bathroom. Toiletries supplied. Wifi was good. Probably the most comfortable place I stayed in my entire trip to Albania.

Breakfast felt a little disorderly, like staff didn't all know what to do and when. No coffee at breakfast - only tea. And almost all carbs - which, I like to eat, but with other travelers, I can imagine people wanting a greater variety. The price was kind of high compared to the rest of the country, given the original Hotel Kalemi was already entirely booked out by the time I made this reservation (two months in advance).

The location is great, right by the old bazaar. The room was not big, but was enough. Breakfast was decent but not exceptional. Parking by the hotel was very convenient. Staff was very helpful, as we left a belonging in the room, they managed to deliver it to us in Sarande, our next stop. We are very thankful for that!

The bathroom was very small, no where to put your toiletries. There was no wardrobe, just a couple of hooks to hang your clothes. Also there was no minibar to keep drinks cold, which would have been handy with temperatures close to 38 degrees.

We loved our stay at Kalemi 2 hotel. We decided to spend a little more on our hotel in this location in order to stay in a more authentic stone property and this place didn't disappoint. The rooms were characterful and the location perfect in the centre of the old town, a short walk from the castle. The breakfast was beautiful too - home cooked and fresh. Between our group one of the rooms had an amazing balcony view of the castle, which was lovely to sit out on and soak in the atmosphere of Girokaster.

The only tiny thing was that the shower in the suite was difficult to use without getting water all over the bathroom floor but this was easily remedied and not really a problem.

Beautiful hotel in an historic building next to the old town. The location is great for exploring the city and its attractions without having to scale a mountain! Everything is very near, and walking to the bus station is a short walk down the hill. Breakfast was amazing and huge! The room itself was very nice, and the bathroom was very large and had an incredible shower. We also had a balcony with a table/chairs and wonderful views of the castle and surrounding mountains/countryside.

The property is near the top of the hill in old town and has helpful friendly staff. It is an easy walk to many restaurants, shops and the castle. The hotel rooms are comfortable and the wooden inlaid ceiling amazing! We had a view of the castle which was fabulous. The breakfast is great - mountain tea, mini donuts with fig jam, tomato/cucumber/capsicum/cheese, bread and eggs of your choice. Great hotel!

When you are staying at this establishment you are not staying at a hotel, instead you are a very special Guest in Mr. Kalemi’s home! Him and the entire staff are helpful, thoughtful, and extremely kind. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The gem of this hotel is the front desk hostess, Rigelsa. She is like a sister that you wish you could travel with. She is there for you to help with ANYTHING that you may need. The rooms were neat and clean with beautiful wood and stone work and the views from the rooms were gorgeous. The hotel is located in heart of the old bazar as is walking distance to everything. We will definitely stay at this hotel again & again & again….

Everything was wonderful

The hotel is a nice antique palace and the ceiling was beautiful. The view from the hotel terrace where you can have breakfast were amazing. The bedroom was big and clean and with a renovated and comfy bathroom. It is in a good location, right in the city center

It is difficult to arrive to the hotel, the streets are steep and narrow, but it is the price to pay to stay at the city center. The street around are noisy, but the party stop early and in the hotel lend you earplugs
