Aston Motel Yamba

It's exactly what you'd expect from a good motel. The rooms are clean and spacious with everything a solo traveller needs. The doors are coded so that you don't have to check-in with the office if you don't want to. I would stay there again.

Look, the hotel can't control this, but the mosquitos were incredible. I've never seen anything like it. The geckos are the fattest I've ever seen in a place because every night is a feast for them. If I were a little bit skinnier I'd have been carried away by them. They were having a conference, I'm sure I saw a group of them with Brazilian flags, shaking their little booties like it was the Rio Carnival. Go there for the mozzies, I promise you won't be disappointed.

I requested a ground floor room because I have difficulty with stairs. However the motel has an elevator which was ideal for me. The motel is situated in a very quiet street but is within easy walking distance from the town centre as well as the Bowling Club. It is also within easy walking distance to the ferry which runs regularly to Iluka and also has cruises on Sunday and Wednesday. Staying at this motel entitled us to a discount on meals at the bowling club. We have stayed here before and would not consider staying anywhere else in Yamba.

Lovely motel, newly refurbished and perfect for a night or 2 stop over in Yamba. Great location, very quiet, but easy walk to shops and beaches. We were very pleased to be allocated a ground floor room so we did not have to carry our luggage up stairs. The room was very spacious, the king bed was very comfortable and there was a microwave. Kitchen items provided included cutlery, bowls and bread and butter plates, but no dinner plates. There is also a small, but well designed fridge with good separate freezer spaced. There are 2 tub chairs but no sofa. We very much enjoyed our 2 night stay and would definitely come again.

Bed was very comfortable. Great to have a kitchette with a sink. Location is very central. 12-15 minute walk to the centre and up the hill for glorious ocean views.

It would be helpful if staff could use their local knowledge about transport options into Yamba. When I rang to book I was trying to figure out how to get from Grafton to Yamba. There is a bus linking the two centres but its website is not clear. Not everyone has a car or wants to use one and it could mean the difference between staying or not staying in Yamba.

The Aston Motel at Yamba is a very pleasant place to stay. It is quiet and the reception staff are very personable. The motel is close th Yamba's shops and the bowling club is a short walk away for meals.

My reservation which was made through Booking.com could not be found. I had the particulars of the reservation and the motel was able to accommodate my wife and me but there appeared to be a communication problem between the motel and Booking.com. The matter was ultimately resolved.

Really liked the spa bath, had driven about 7 hours to get there and a hot bath with lots of water pressure was a soothing way to unwind.

I had arrived from QLD so needed every bit of the 10:00 am check out time. We lose an hour when we visit you in NSW. I had just showered at a time that was in my time zone, and it was about 0945 NSW time and the house keeping tried to enter the room. Didn't knock or announce but the entry privacy lock prevented them from entering. I don't blame them because they could have assumed that I had left as I was very quiet, no TV, no radio or no conversations as I was on my own but perhaps just expect QLD travellers (who will be tired) may need time to get organised to leave. Otherwise, they obviously do a fantastic job as the standard of the room was very well presented. Just some feed back and it is not meant to be negative, perhaps a learning experience?

We arrived on a sunny afternoon and were greeted by 3 kangaroos on lawn. One had a joey in her pouch ! This was delightful. The location of this property is perfect. It is hidden away off main roads, which makes it very private. We had a swimming pool, a lovely barbecue area and a lovely place to eat our dinner and look out at the front of our room and then the grassed area at the back. We loved it and will be back when we make our regular trips to Brisbane.

Very well set up room - we appreciated the verandah that overlooked the pool and a grove of trees. Quiet location but not far from the many attractions of Yamba. It was an easy walk to the town centre and along the river. where the ferry for Iluka leaves from. But be warned it is a haul up the hill behind the town centre to access the main beach! Motel was also handy for the nearby bowling club which we learned owned the motel and gave us members rates on food and drink. As a bonus, the motel had the softest towels I have ever had for a motel/hotel stay.

We had the king room and it was great , so roomy and the bed was very comfortable . loved that I could plug my charger in beside the bed and not have to stand in my head .great that there were chairs in the room and an a table .lovely clean facilities . nice to see the kangaroo family on the property with their Joey nice that the club was associated with guest program

I didn’t like the patio chairs , they were far too close together on the balcony . if I could make a suggestion it would be to mix them up and put some around the whole perimeter of the balcony , side and back as well to get the sun or shade if you want it. we didn’t use the pool but it was lovely and clean and the bbq facilities looked very nice

Clean, quiet at night, comfortable bed, easy parking in front of room. Unlike some motels we've stayed at on this trip, it was easy to connect to the wifi, even if it was very slow.

Shower set-up could be better: (a) absence of any shelving means soap / shampoo etc. have to be placed on the floor; (b) “open” design with just a shower curtain means bathroom floor gets very wet, and bathmat ends up sodden.
