This was the best hostel I stayed in while I was in Sydney. Everything was good, the beds, the sockets, the showers, the kitchen. It's a bit further away from the center than many other hostels, but the way there is kind of nice, it was fun to look at all the shops and little restaurants along the way, and it's not a bad area to walk around after dark I'd say.
The only problem was that it was pretty difficult to open the room door, you had to first push the key in and then a bit back and turn it just right to open it. At least everyone in my room (room 11) was complaining about it.

This hostel is absolutely wonderful! Located at the very centre of the city, it provides convenient access to everything Sydney has to offer. The hostel is distinguished by its lively and engaging atmosphere, making it a great spot for meeting new people through the variety of entertaining events it hosts. The staff adds greatly to the experience; they are always warm, friendly, and enjoy engaging with guests. This inviting atmosphere often persuades people who come for a short stay to extend their visits. Whether you're in town for a quick trip or something longer, this hostel comes highly recommended!
It was all good, nothing unpleasant.

It was nice location near Victoria Park, shopping centre with Coles, Aldi and Kmart, also bus station in front of the hostel. Really sociable hostel, events every day, friendly people and kind staff, great common area, bed was comfy and near bed was a socket and a lamp. Room for 4 was enough spacious and wasn't smelly in comparison to other hostels. Kitchen was well-equipped with free condiments and some free food as well and what I liked too were big showers with a lot hangers inside.
what I didn't like was worn out frying pans and pots, it is just not healthy to cook on them, also improvements in cleaning would be good and sometimes some people after midnight were still noisy in the common area.

Bathrooms were modern and clean, room was nice and one of the cheapest hostels I could find in Sydney at the time. I would come again staff were be very nice and they had music bingo during our stay. Overall nice hostel
When we arrived our room smelt of feet and the beds were extremely uncomfortable, worse bed I've ever slept in I am glad it was only for one nught

This was my first long term stay at a hostel (1 month). Most staff are pretty helpful & nice. Big ups to Jake who does a great job managing this place. Young & friendly international vibe. Cleaning levels for a hostel are pretty good too. They do as much as they can but you have to understand this is a hostel so as much as the staff cleans a lot of people don't clean after themselves... It's really not their fault. Location is fantastic. Feels very safe. Close to Central but in a much nicer area. A shopping mall 3 minutes away. Buses are 3 minutes away. Cool pool and gym 10 minutes away too. I would def recommend this place.
The old wood beds. My bed actually broke the last night I spent there, good thing I had the bottom & not top bunk... If you can ask for a room were they have metal ones. Also, the common areas are pretty small. Kitchen is small and can get packed at certain times. Some feedback I would love you guys to take is limit how much alcohol people can store in fridges. Some people are unable to store their food because some other people are storing beers. It is very unfair.

University of Sydney less than 10 min walk. • Victoria Park --with a 50-metre outdoor pool-- is across the street, great to pick up a meal at Aldi (Broadway Sydney) and have a picnic. • Hostel provides free access pass to a local gym Anytime Fitness, 5 min walk. • Generally clean & well maintained for a hostel; especially considering the high concentration of guests. • Well designed unisex showers! Private enclosed cubicle, long narrow yet spacious with shower head & toiletry shelves at one end, the other end stays dry with hooks for towels & clothes. • Free gatherings at night; i.e., games, Sangria & Nachos, Tea & Cakes, Pasta, etc. 𝗕𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗢𝗠 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘... I'm an older traveller & tend to shy away from hostels. I shared a private bunk bed room with my 24yo daughter. Similar to the Selina chain --however, less polished & not as expensive-- Mad Monkey is a brand with several international locations. If they are all operated similarly, I wouldn't hesitate to book again. Hostels generally attract a wonderfully diverse clientele. Embrace the youthful vibe and enjoy yourself! 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗟 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗗 • Always pack good quality ear plugs, eye masks, shower sandals, and flat weave microfiber quick dry towels.
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜 𝗗𝗜𝗗𝗡'𝗧 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 • Although clean, the towels smelled a bit mildewy. • The mattress was lumpy; I could feel the springs; yet, didn't keep me awake. It was not as bad as a Budapest hostel where the bed was a 3" foam slab wrapped in vinyl on a solid plywood base, haha... no joke. • Can be loud; hey, it's a hostel! However, the noise curfew is definitely observed.

I like that the kitchen is always clean for people to cook. I also like the way the dinner room is organized; everything is close to each other. This makes is easier to make friends and just have a chat. The location is very nice since it close (200m) to broadway (supermarket) and it just takes a 30-40 minuts walk to town hall.
Some features to store your food would be nice to have. Like little throw-away bags would already be helpful. Also, a place where you can drop left-over food (i.e. food that is left when you leave) would be nice. For example, if you have some peanut butter left, you can just leave it and someone else takes/shares it with others.

Everything about this place is amazing. The best part for my boyfriend and I was 100% the people (including the staff). I've read some reviews here saying that it's hard to find people to talk to here, but you need to remember that you get out what you put in. There are a lot of long term stayers and I'm sure that if you speak to them they'll be more than happy to include you, on our first day we met the most amazing people and made incredible friendships. For the drinkers, alcohol is allowed. Theres shops literally 3 mins away for drinks and budget food, as well as clothes shops. Transport in Sydney overall is great, it's easy to get everywhere without walking and even so everything is in "walking" distance - Darling Harbour is just a 30 min walk and it's stunning, lots of restaurants and sight seeing opportunities. At no point during our stay were we bored. The showers were clean - I had a 4 bed with en-suite and small kitchen (fridge, kettle) while my boyfriend had an 8 bed, but the shared showers were actually nicer than the en-suite - spacious and easy to control the temperature, etc. The kitchen is quite small but there were about 6 people cooking in there at points, yes it's a squeeze but also a great way of meeting people. Events every night and Rory is amazing, with most nights offering free drinks and snacks. Nachos and Sangria is amazing. We've been gone 2 days and miss everything about it. Everyone was up for a chat. If you're looking for a long term stay they offer weekly prices, with plenty of jobs nearby. Yes this is a slightly more expensive hostel, but it's 100% worth it. We miss you ❤️
The rooms are on the smaller side, but there's loads of storage space (large lockers which fitted my 85L back pack) and a large draw under the beds. The staff are ruthless with the deep cleans, but this is also a positive, just make sure all of your stuff is put away - these occur once a week and ensure the long term up keep of the hostel.
