The Vulcan was recommended by my sister who had stayed here while working in Sydney. There were cafes all around and a couple of nice restaurants nearby. It was only a block away from my AGM and only a short walk up to Woolworths and the Main Street of shops. I loved the ambiance of the breakfast room with lovely old-style piano music. Two of the staff rate a special mention for their superb service. Lupita and Eric.

Sorry I need to mention that management need to take regular checks of the conditions and upkeep of the rooms. The floor tiles in the bathroom of my room were worn and dirty looking. Grubby actually. The trolley in the bathroom was rusty with a broken rail.

I like the facilities, location of the hotel and excellent customer service of the staff. Comfortable to stay with free WIFI. We got free upgrade on our room too.

Its not we can say we didnt like but rather a room for improvement. There's ahould be some more options for breakfast. We choose the option of breakfast included as we saw the photos and prevuous reviews as the breakfast serves the continental breakfast. However, we got a breakfast without the mushroom and sauges anymore. Yes scambled eggs and bacon still there but better to have sauges and ham as well. With veggies will be great. Like mushroom and spinach. The choices of bread should be improved. Atleast with sourdough, brown bread., whole bread etc. There should have a selection of fruits too.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the location is amazing. It's on a quieter street but just a short walk to Central Station, which makes travel easy. I was pleasantly surprised on arrival to store my luggage until check in, that my room was already available, so I could relax after my flight straight away. The buffet breakfast that's included had a great selection of cereals, toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, beans, fruit and apples, along with tea and coffee. Definitely a great way to start the day, relaxing in the peaceful cafe. Also happy to store my luggage upon check out as my flight was not until the evening.

My only complaint is that the pillows weren't comfortable for a long night's sleep. They felt fine, but I woke up with a bad headache my first morning, so put a towel underneath it for the second night, and that helped. Pillows are a subjective thing though, so not something that can necessarily be helped, as they could be fine for someone else.

The Vulcan offers basic but comfortable accommodation in a very handy location at the top end of the city, in Ultimo. Easy walk from Central Station, and ideal for accessing UTS and Ultimo TAFE campus.

Perhaps I did not see it, but there appeared to be no coffee/tea available as part of included breakfast, which is a bit strange . Coffee is available by order, but at additional charge. There is some delay such that one morning, when I was in bit of a hurry, I could not wait.

The room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed for my stay. Very conveniently located if you are heading to the ICC/Darling Harbour convention centre. Staff were friendly and helpful, even went above and beyond with a weather warning as I went to leave. The room was amazingly quiet for Sydney - no street noise. Great value for money!

Not a deal breaker for me at all, but no view from the room. Also, the council doesn't do a great job of keeping the suburb tidy, but nothing to do with the hotel itself.

The accommodation was cozy in a beautiful historic building and the facilities provided were absolutely comfortable, good breakfast. Overall, I can highly recommend this accommodation. If you are looking for accommodation in the center, comfort, look no further. This is the kind of accommodation that really sets the standard for quality accommodation

I was surprised that the 4* hotel does not have an open reception after 10 pm. You call the night MNG, but if you have a European SIM, it is an unnecessary and not cheap expense. However, the night MNG was very pleasant and helpful.

Ideal location in Ultimo. Tucked away behind the Tafe campus, in a quiet area. The gentleman at reception was friendly and informative, even at my late hour of arrival. The team facilitating the complimentary breakfast service/ reception were polite and attentive. Breakfast was a lovely surprise.

Bed and pillows (personally) a little uncomfortable. Bathroom small. Door must be shut when showering or else the steam will set off fire alarm. There was no extraction fan.

This is a very quaint hotel with clean rooms and a lovely breakfast included. Staff are friendly and helpful and it is in a great location if you don’t mind walking to most of the closest attractions (my favourite thing to do).

The only two things I was disappointed in was the claim to views. My room had frosted windows. I’m assuming that there were perhaps views on the other side of the building and thought that because I had stated I was travelling for business (therefore more likely to return to the hotel more often than one time guests) that I might have been put in a room with a view. There are also no practical power points beside the bed for charging devices unless you pull the bed out from the wall. They are difficult to access and change over so this was a bit behind the times despite the renovations done to the hotel.

There was no dinner provision. When trying to book the room directly with the hotel I was asked to send a photo of both my ID and Credit Card, which I wasn't about to do. This is why I ended up with Booking .com to avoid that hassle and lack of security. Suggest hotel looks at that request and why they feel it necessary. Also suggest they change it as a process.

I requested a room with a bath and walked in and found it was actually a spa! So relaxing! The staff are wonderful and happy to help. Parking is close by and so cheap compared to what's nearby! Comfy beds, smart tv, breakfast supplied! Location is incredible!

Please stash a loaf of GF bread in the freezer :) It would make breakfast just a little more accessible, although the staff did say I could bring my own and toast it.
