I stayed at the Ulitimo with my 3 teenagers for a weekend. It was a quiet hotel in a good location within walking distance of everything Chinatown has to offer & the tram & train station. It is in a well-lit area, and we felt safe walking back at night. The beds were comfy, the rooms were very clean & the staff were accommodating & friendly. I had my hair done at the hairdressers next door, and they did a really great job for a good price! There is a 7-Eleven on the corner & a small shopping centre across the street with plenty of quick & tasty eating options.

The bathroom was quite small for a 4-person family room...but it's not a big deal for the price.

The noise from the lane at the back of the hotel. My room was also noisy with sounds of pipes or engines running in the building. There were 2 fire evacuations during the 2 night stay a apparently due to a faulty alarm in a guests room. One the first night staff said nothing to reassure the guests or offer any help to families with young children. The tea and coffee sachets tasted very poor in my opinion.

Lovely, well-sized room with a cosy vibe in neutral tones and a nice view over the intersection of Ultimo Road and Quay Street and wonderfully large windows that open. The room and bathroom were very clean and amenities were good (tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, hairdryer, body wash, moisturiser, shampoo and conditioner, iron and ironing board, table and chairs). The staff were all very friendly and helpful and everyone acknowledged our wedding anniversary which was lovely! An additionally welcoming touch was the note, bag of Lindor balls and two coffee vouchers that were in our room on arrival. We love the location of The Ultimo: just a short walk from Central Station, close to the Light Rail and a straightforward walk to Circular Quay, it's pretty hard to beat.

Our only negative is the design flaw of no door on the shower which allows water to splash out onto the bathroom floor saturating the bath mat before even stepping out of the shower.

This is a well-preserved and renovated historical building in a great location with excellent proximity to shopping, restaurants, markets, and public transportation. My single queen room was very well appointed with a very comfortable mattress for these old bones. Every staff I encountered was welcoming and anticipated my needs.

If wifi is an important amenity as it is for me doing work remotely, be sure to request a room with better signaling. I initially wasn’t able to connect until I moved to another room (they were happy to accommodate my need). Even my cell reception was limited on the side of the building where my first room was located.

The room was spacious, clean and beautiful. The staff were super friendly and accommodating with a super smooth check-in and check-out process. The location is super convenient and well-placed for evening adventures around Chinatown. I did pay for parking at the Thomas St Wilson lot which was quite convenient too.

The bathroom of my room was a bit strange in layout as it's just one giant space with no divider between the area to shower in and the rest of the room. The whole floor all the way to the toilet would get very, very wet every time you use the shower because it didn't have any sort of door or curtain, but I understand that it was accessible-friendly which is great to see. Being in a room right next to the elevators can be a bit noisy at night from the hallway which is understandable but could be quite disruptive to sleep at times but not sure what could be improved by the hotel for that.

Yanni (hope I spelled that correctly) the front desk staff member at the front desk was excellent. Really paid attention to my needs (light sleeper). She carefully reviewed the hotel chart to make sure she was putting me in a quiet room. Room was light and airy and room fixtures were up to date and bed comfortable.

If I could change one thing it would ease of accessing power points. I searched for a place to plug in my laptop and wound up using the ones behind the tv which were not very conducive to using my laptop on the table.

The location is excellent - very close to Central Station and to light rail. The hotel is comfortable with good aircon for heating and cooling. The Paddy's Market centre is over the road. Chinatown is very close and Darling Harbour a short walk away. Staff were very helpful. The hotel offers a large reduction per day in parking at a nearby Wilson parking station.

Wifi was sometimes very slow. Parking (at $38 a day with one exit/entry each 24 hours) was about 200 metres from the hotel at a Wilson carpark - not so close.

Really helpful and friendly staff, which is always a plus on a few seriously jet-lagged days in a largely unfamiliar city. Located very close to Central station was really handy but for a pretty healthy 60+ year old it was within comfortable walking distance of all the central sites, museums and galleries. Also spoilt for choice with places to eat, from Market City over the road with a range of good breakfast options, to countless restaurants for later.

There's nothing I didn't like. The room was definitely basic, but that's what I was looking for for a few days on my own for work. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet, and there was good air conditioning - and that's what I wanted.

We booked a room with courtyard and the room and view were great. Location was brilliant and so many great restaurants nearby. For breakfast just pop over to the coffee shop on corner, great selection of food and fab coffee. Note the courtyard rooms do require you to walk up steps (hotel do state this) so make sure you can carry your luggage etc.

Pets are allowed which isn't the problem unless you have a neighbour who decides to tie their dog outside on the courtyard and leave for the evening, so dog barks non stop and starts off other dogs. Reception were great and dealt with this very quickly.
