Oaks Ipswich Aspire Suites

Last year when I stayed the room stank like cigarette smoke and the air-conditioner emitted a foul dank odour, was gross to be honest. This year the room was much better, I wouldn't say the room smelled particularly pleasant, but it was not gross like last time, and the air-conditioner was working properly with no foul smells. The two-bedroom apartment has heaps of room, a desk to work at, a reasonable size TV and a full side fridge.

Some air fresheners would be nice. Could hear a dog barking in someone's room. It also seemed like a couple of days some other occupants might have dropped raw fish remains down the garbage chute or something as the passageway smelt like fish.

Apartment was perfect for what we needed, had everything. Good size, comfortable, aircon/heater in both lounge/bedroom which was perfect. Had a high floor apartment, floor 11 out if 14. We had great views, overlooking the field to St Mary's cathedral, city and trains. (Request cathedral side) Quiet not much noise, apart from trains, the tracks are right by the hotel. Wasn't bad though. Pool heated, which was perfect for us, swimming in June. Onsite free undercover parking. Reception staff Jodie, was amazing, she's friendly, welcoming, helpful, gave fantastic service, made us including my toddler feel really welcome. Shops, food, train all walking distance. Coles 3 min drive. Everything close by. Will stay again, highly recommended.

Pool tiles broken around the top of the pool and spa. Calcium build up around the top of the pool, needs attention. Spa wasn't working. Apart from those, nothing else to fault.

What I liked about Oak is that the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location is good, not too busy for getting in and out of the hotel, and the security is good. I initially thought I had to request new towels, but the housekeeping staff tidied up my room and provided fresh towels every day.

What I didn't like was when I checked in, and my daughter was about to take a shower, the handle to switch between the shower and bath was broken. I had to spend 5 to 10 minutes fixing it.

Lovely apartment on a top floor with great views. Functional kitchen but limited crockery and cutlery. Comfortable bed. Good shower with plenty of towels. Had washing machine next to apartment.

Very limited washing-up liquid and only bench to drain dishes. Had a dishwasher, but only one sachet of powder supplied and we preferred to hand wash dishes as very limited supply. The room got very hot during the night so we tried opening the window but disturbed by train noise. .

-Friendly and helpful staff (in particular the receptionist that was on during our stay. She was super amazing 👏) -Location was great - close to shops, movies, restaurants and not far from city. -Undercover parking was a huge plus -Quick serivce whenever we requested something -Pool, sauna and gym facilities on site -Foxtel was a plus too -After-hours service is a game changer for late arrivals. And booking was easy as well.

-Gym was a little too small for our liking. A dumbbell set would go great in there. -Balcony was super small. Almost no point in designing a balcony when u can't even put a chair out on it for the smaller rooms. -When laying on the bed, you can feel the split between the two joined togehter. Small but noticeable.

Our room was fairly dusty and dirty - more than what we're usually accustomed to - floors (bedroom / living carpets, toilet / kitchen tiles), balcony (table, chairs, balustrades, floors - couldn't really enjoy it out there with our young kids). Lounge, drapes, coffee table, TV unit, dining chairs not as clean as we're used to unfortunately. Room smelled very badly of cigarette smoke - which made us feel very uncomfortable / nauseous. The 2nd bedroom where my 2 girls slept had a unpleasant odour unfortunately. I physically stayed in the Groomsmen / Groom's room on a higher level / same layout and did not have these unpleasantries.. this particular room was for my wife & 2 girls (flower girls).

It was clean and neat and had everything we needed. It was a very secure property.

It was very difficult to locate this property at night, especially the reception area. The parking area was very tight.

Good location in walking distance to the river parklands and the shopping complex via the pedestrian bridge. Not a lot of restaurants around for dinner in walking distance and the streets are pretty empty from 6pm. Nice heated swimming pool. Well equipped one-bedroom apartment. It had everything needed.

Could be noisy at times : trains (lucky for me my room was on the other side and I appreciated it a lot) and planes flying above the hotel on certain days and time slots (planes are back in the sky). The hotel has a very handy underground carpark, but car spaces are tight and it is very difficult to get in or out of the car space.

the bed was very comfy and clean the room was a good size but the kitchen could have been a bit more cleaned like the surfaces...the bathroom was clean...i loved the pool and it was heated and the spa it was relaxing....

didnt like the shower over bath and there should be a grab rail to grab onto when entering the bath...we bought our own a suction one...also screen over the shower would be better if it could fold that way it would be easier to get into the bath...part from all that everything was good.....

Liked the room, facilities and that it was central to what we required. The bed was comfortable and room big enough for the 2 of us.

Air conditioning did not work properly. Remote controls both did not work properly. Was better off pulling the fan out of the cupboard at night. Would have liked a dis cloth instead of just a scourer, need more dish wash liquid for 4 day stay. One pouch was not sufficient.
