I knew YHA as it has many hostels in Australia but I had never stayed at one of them. This hostel is absolutely fantastic. Everything is super clean, there are two fully equipped kitchens, beautiful lounge rooms, tv rooms and also a rooftop with lounge chairs. There is such a relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel like being a guest in someone's house, not in a hostel. The position is very central. Couldn't recommend more

Great location, great communal areas, two extremely well equipped and clean kitchens. Short walk to the beach, great rooftop terrace and garden. Everything clean. One of the best hostels I've been to in Australia!

No curtains at the beds, only fixed reception times in the morning and evening, but no problem when you know. Only two showers + two toilets on ground floor, but usually it works fine

Location was great. Around 4 mins easy walk to the shops and cafes on the main street for food. The shared kitchen facilities of the hostel and the room were clean and presentable. The room came with the bath towels and shared bathroom were well kept. I like that board games and TV room were available to the guests. Friendly staff members and check in was a breeze. Good value for money. Highly recommended!

Pillow was a bit soft and flat for my liking. Also would be nice to have USB ports or power outlet next to the bed to charge phones. Clothes hook rack or a couple of more clothes hangers would be a nice addition to the room.

This place is one for the books! We enjoyed our overall stay here. We celebrated our Christmas eve with our friends here. The place is clean and they have everything you need in their kitchen. It was indeed a home away from home. Would love to be back in this place.

The only thing we noticed was that some guests were sleeping in the common hall so we were not able to hangout in this area. But overall, the place is superb.

The in-house personal contact with voluntary and other staff. Bell ringing at arrival had no effect, nobody opened the door. Telephone call when leaving and no staff in sight (9-10am). Cold, formal and brisk ending of telephone conversation when talking to staff/volunteer. I was particularly irritated before I came to Apollo Bay: I received a nice and friendly welcome email and shortly after (30min) I was sent some (outdated) Covid info and it was recommended that I repeat my online booking with complete Card numbers (I had done my online booking weeks before!) - which is a very fishy and suspicious message, I thought and did nothing. In short: check your Website, arrange it up-to-date level. I was missing personal contact!

The best hostel I’ve stayed in so far in aus! Extremely modern and clean with huge amount of space over 2 floors. The staff were kind, welcoming and helpful. 3 minutes walk from the beach and the main road with lots of restaurants to choose from and a fairy big grocery store! Perfect location if you want to do hikes and drives to waterfalls etc.

Best hostel we have stayed in on our trip to Australia! Really great building and such a well designed hostel. Our room was simple but very comfortable and had everything we needed (it was unexpectedly cold when we came so having a heater and blanket was a great bonus!) Bed was comfy and slept very well. Shared bathrooms were really clean and in good condition and communal kitchen was excellent with everything you needed and nice dining tables to sit at to eat. Staff were friendly too, and the location was great, really near the beach and well situated to see the Great Ocean Road. Wish we had more time here!

The walls are cinderblock so you hear everything in the hallway. Hard to close the doors quietly. Fortunately, the other guests were respectful during our stay, so with earplugs we were fine. But honestly, if you’re staying in a hostel, it’s unteasonable to expect complete silence.

Love the modern design/style. Also great layout with bedrooms sectioned off from bathrooms. Showers had a place to leave your clothes while you shower. Love the eco mission which was apparent throughout. Great help with planning a trip regarding the brochures and suggestions of the board. Comfy beds and linen.

Main issue was just stripping your own bed at the end of your stay.

Stayed for long weekend as a family of 4, kids age 8 &10. Great cheap and cheerful typical YHA experience. Bunk room comfy, shared bathrooms clean, good kitchen and lounge facilities. It's not a luxury hotel but a great alternative to staying in more expensive self catering accommodation when you're mostly going to be out and about. Kids felt welcome.
