5 stars hostel. Exceptional well run. Very friendly and helpful staff who speak perfect English. Everything was spotlessly clean. I had a private room, and it was very spacious and cozy for a hostel room. There was a wash basin in the room, so there was never a queue for the common toilets and showers. Excellent WiFi which works everywhere. I really liked that it was a garden sitting area. I would definitely have stayed longer, if it wasn't for that Europe is getting too cold for me now in November. Nice heated room though. Superhint: Do not buy a travel pass until you get here, you won't regret it. And yes, there's a bar as well.

It was nothing I didn't like. The outdoor areas are closed too early, but that's a Vienna thing, not a hostel thing.

The single room was perfect, have your own sink in the room is the best thing ever. I love the environment as well, clean and friendly, my room was at the ground floor but there's few doors blocked the notice from public area which was nice. Btw, the travel cards for rental are limited, see if you are lucky enough. 乾淨舒適的住宿,多加一點錢升級成單人房非常值得

Nothing really, just one thing that may can be improved. I couldn't find hairdryers although the reception told me where it is. Would be great if can get more hairdryers at the reception, it's fine if need some deposit, at least I don't need to sleep with my wet hair.

EVERYTHING WAS EXCEPTIONAL!! The atmosphere of this hostel, cleanliness (fresh sheets, towels), value for money, a huge variety of activities to do and integrate guests at the hostel. everything is thought through, one has a private locker in mixed 6-people room with a socket in it(!). Loved the patio (green and quiet) as well as the common room with sockets and pillows to sit comfortably. there's no other place I'd rather returned to in whole Vienna, absolutely recommend

at times bathroom floor was slightly dirty, but no wonder - it was 6-people room, can't get everyone to pay attention to cleanliness

Very friendly, helpful staff. Atmosphere in the hostel was great. It was nice to come back to at the end of the day & feel relaxed. Bathroom in dorm was good. Very clean. Close to bakery & small supermarket, nice walk to city centre about 45 minutes. Also close to metro . Outdoor area & inside common area.

Unfortunately the stove burners in the kitchen are very slow to heat up & cook on but still manageable.

The atmosphere is really nice! Everyone is super friendly and the place is always cozy. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room had everything I needed. I reccomend the breakfast! We did not know it was possible before getting there but WE LOVED to have the possibility to order on the same morning and get very nice food for a very reasonable price! And the coffee made with the moka… amazing!

I expect a better location. Don’t get me wrong, the hostel is very well connected but the area did not have a lot of service around and it was all under construction… so it was a bit weird to walk around. For example, we did not have a nice bakery or coffee in a walking distance, or a pharmacy or night shop.

I had hesitated between this one and Wombat and I'm so happy I choose Ruthensteiner. It's hands down the best hostel in Vienna for a reason. The crowd is very social, the pay as you wish dinner will bring people together at 8pm, the games that are organized at 9pm are also rather fun, although typically people are so occupied with socializing that they will skip them. Volunteers (who are essentially in fact short-term contract employees) are wonderful and very helpful. The culture of the hostel is in general marvelous. They were unfazed that my group came back at 4am to play tetris. The Line U3 at Wetbanhof is a 5 minute walk and IS MUCH better than U4 (which for me runs in more shady parts of Vienna at least, the western part, before one would reach Kartzplatz) so it's excellent for visiting, as you can reach the Museumquartier at Volkstheater, Stephanplatz for the center and take a tram for Schobrunn nearby also. I have not tried the breakfast nor have I used the kitchens, so I cannot comment on those but I didn't hear anything negative. There is no loud music, and people are in general respectful about not making too much noise, so you can also sleep in peace and skip all social activities if you wish to do so. The solo room was very clean, rather spacious. The decoration was beautiful also. There is free water and free lemonade (made each afternoon) which is awesome. I had a lamp issue which the staff resolved rather promptly and gave me free drinks to apologize. If you want an hostel there is NO REASON to choose anything else, in essence. Just go there.

The bar and most of the common rooms close at midnight, which is way too early. While it's big enough, if the common areas were bigger, it would be much much nicer, but that is rather impossible. For some people being split between two buildings might be a minor inconvenience.

First of all : Location ! 10/10 8 minutes walk to the airport bus, around 25-60 minutes walk to all the places we wanted to see in Vienna. Also it was very safe during nighttime and well connected with trams in case you got tired. Room was very nice. Not big, but clean and has everything we need. There is a lot of 'extra' things in hostel like kitchen, bar, free tea, piano, nice garden etc. The stuff is really kind and helpful We liked also the atmosphere of this place :) Highly recommended

We loved our stay at this hostel! Firstly, they upgraded us from a private room to an apartment for free which was an unexpected (but lovely) surprise when checking in, and the apartment was amazing - spacious, well-equipped, and felt like home. The staff were always really friendly and helpful, the public transport card offering at reception was excellent, and the shared spaces were great and really social. Plus, the location was really well connected to everything we wanted to do in Vienna.

I don’t think I can fault anything!

We came to Vienna for the eras tour which was cancelled. They went out of their way to make us swifties feel safe and welcome, we met some amazing people and exchanged friendship bracelets in their bar and common room. They even arranged a karaoke night for us in the bar the next night!! Thank you soooo much for your hospitality. Our room was excellent and the beds were super comfortable. The vibe is super friendly and sociable. They have board games, a patio, a kitchen with all the appliances and a laundry room. It was the perfect hostel.

Everything is perfect

-I booked a double room with a shared bathroom, but was upgraded to the most beautiful and homey little studio which I was so thankful for! It featured a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine which was super convenient. Everything was very clean. -I extended my stay and stayed 3 more nights in the female ensuite dorm room. This room was also very nice and clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower and toilet are in separate rooms which I loved. -the staff and volunteers were all super nice and welcoming all throughout my stay. I had such a great experience thanks to them. -it’s the perfect place to meet interesting people from all over. I loved the daily pay as you wish dinners, and the common area is very inviting. I made some friends during my stay (which isn’t always easy for me as an introvert), the vibe in the hostel was great and made it easier. -they have free lockers to use before/after check in which was very convenient. My huge backpack fit in just fine. -the location isn’t very central, but it’s easy to get anywhere using public transport, which I liked. There are also grocery stores and restaurants nearby.

-I wish they planned more activities. There were some (like walking tours) once every few days, I just wish it was more often. -the bed in the apartment isn’t super comfortable, but it’s okay. -the water from the shower was leaking all over the bathroom floor which was an inconvenience. -the price gets so high during the weekends. It’s very reasonably priced during weekdays though. -the dorm room I booked was advertised as if there are towels and soap provided, which there weren’t. I had my own so I didn’t really mind, but I thought it’s worth mentioning.
