A Stone's Throw Away

We liked the location of the property set in an elevated position with sea view. Consequently there are numerous steps so not suited to guests with young children or people with mobility issues. It’s a small hotel in a less tourist developed area of the island. It felt more personal staying here compared to a large resort. There are some good restaurants within walking distance. We had dinner at the property one evening. The chef prepared an Indian meal to our specific requests and it was delicious.

When you leave the hotel there isn’t a specific walk way to get to the local beaches or restaurants. You have to be very careful because the cars are going fast and there’s blind spots. Potentially dangerous.

The staff is lovely, as are the grounds. The pool is in a beautiful garden. The view of the ocean is superb, and the ocean is a five minute walk down the hill. The hotel restaurant serves outstanding, truly outstanding Indian dishes, eaten on a lovely deck looking out on the sea. This hotel feels like a secluded paradise. A pleasant place to stay.

It is the little things. The wifi is non-existent. The television in my room did not work. The shower head was stuck on a strange and sort of unpleasant setting.

Stayed here as a layover night en route to Andros, as close to Nassau international airport. We were upgraded to a bigger, better room due to Booking.com status. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful with luggage - especially as there are lots of steps from front door to reception and from lobby to rooms! Price Included a cold, continental-style breakfast which was decent. Printed sign in lobby suggested some hot options were available at extra cost, but no further info was on display; we didn't enquire further as the standard offering was sufficient for our needs that day. Hotel has recently started to offer food, we didn't eat here so can't comment either way. On our homeward journey we laid over at Baha Mar and wished we had stayed at A Stone's Throw Away again, instead.

Accessibility from front door to lobby, and from lobby to rooms, could be improved - not recommended for someone who has trouble with steps.

If you like the old style, this place is a must. View and terraced rooms as well as the big rooms on the 2nd floor exceptional. The place needs some work on it. A lot of woodwork and plumbing definitely needs renovation, but the feeling is absolutely lovely, if you are a fan of colonial style. On our last day, we got a lovely farewell lunch - chicken masala - which was delicious and was very lovingly prepared and served. We felt very welcome and cared for - all our wishes were met with a smile.

The shower was not so nice, but my friends in the 2nd had a huge tub and were very happy. The beds are comfy, but if you like to sleep on something, that does not move, if your partners moves, it is not so good. But we could see the sea from our bed. :-))

I was here for a wedding (father of the bride) don’t know what happened at her and my future son-in-law’s resort, but my daughter and her bridesmaids had to come to Stone’s Throw Away to get dressed. Everyone in the wedding party was impressed by the room and especially the view of the of the ocean. I would recommend to all that inquire that they stay and also be impressed.

This is not a complaint, but if you don’t like or can’t do a lot of steps, you may want to look elsewhere. Everyone in the wedding party, complained about the stairs.

Love this hotel, have stayed before. We were only there for less than 12 hours, stopping over before a very early flight to Andros Island. Wish we could have spent longer. John was amazing, helped us with everything on arrival and was there to take us back to airport at 4:45am the following morning. Beautiful and huge room, wonderful bathroom, hope next time we can stay for longer. p.s. Having Travellers Rest restaurant a short walk away also good.

We weren't there long enough to dislike anything! Seriously though, this worked well for a stopover, not the cheapest option but very close to Nassau airport and extremely welcoming/comfortable.

Menu for dinner was all Indian food (not everyone wants to eat this) and menu didn’t change for the whole duration of my stay. Could do with an information pack on how to work the TV (which I struggled with) and detailing times for breakfast; dinner.

Amazing views from the terrace, where we spent quite some time drinking complimentary coffee or drinks from the honest bar. We stayed in the suite with the bathtub - the room was spacious and exactly as in the pictures. Breakfast was included, which we liked. The beach is very close and there are also a few restaurants nearby to have lunch / dinner. The staff was really welcoming and helpful. They also helped us to get a covid test a day before our return flight to the US. We would definitely stay there again if we come back to the Bahamas.

Beautiful little gem... over looking the coast. Property sit up on a cliff. Convenient walk to a couple restaurants and only about a mile away from the airport. Staff was accommodating and even ran us to the airport when a taxi was slow to respond. We had a garden court room but the view from the room was still spectacular.

The room was perfectly simple and exquisite. The view was amazing from any direction and the staff was extremely kind and helpful.

I’m a coffee drinker so having that always available would have been great. The property is amazing in every sense of the word. For me, tying those moments with my cup of coffee would have helped.
