The staff were all very professional and offered services such as valet, bellman service, concierge. There are two nice indoor seating areas including a bar and an outdoor seating area out front. Covered, indoor, secure parking.

No pool on site Victoria park, located in the south-west opposite corner of the property is currently a “tent city” (which is not a personal concern to me) and those living there did not approach the hotel as staff were always present at the doors. This may cause some concern to those who are less familiar with individuals who’ve situations have led them to this unfortunate lifestyle.

The bed was very comfortable but the pillows were lumpy and not at all comfortable. The room was very clean and quite well appointed. Very quiet. Service staff are excellent, including cleaners, check-in staff and doormen. Although there were a couple of minor issues, they were resolved. Great location.

When we arrived the outlets on the desk had no power to charge devices. It took two requests and several hours to have it attended to- and it turned out to be a simple matter of connecting something behind the desk/dresser (which had to be moved to do so) and should have been in place before we checked in. The safe in the room also didn’t work (needed a new battery); this is something which also should have been attended to before our arrival (a flashing message on the safe should have been noticed). These are minor and overall we were happy with our stay but they were nonetheless annoying things.

This was honestly one of the best hotels we have stayed in ever. It is just slightly off the beaten path so you feel like you're away from the busy-ness but it's actually very close to all amenities. The staff are lovely, the rooms fantastic. One of the best things is the many nice seating areas throughout the hotel. It has a very old world charm to it while also feeling very welcoming and unpretentious. It's a fantastic hotel.

The restaurant is an after thought. Would be nice to have a cafe or something similar where you can get a quick snack or something else.

Breakfast was very nice and restaurant and lounge was great.

I was booked the first night at a certain price and was charged 80$ more for the second night with no communication about a price difference? not even when I checked out? Sept 10 Sunday and Sept 11 Monday I found it odd - person at desk when I called them after I had checked out wasn't great about it - said they were more booked on Monday night so the price went up .....but I was already staying there??

I stayed a week at the Lord Nelson Hotel in downtown Halifax, across the street from the gorgeous public gardens, and close to the Halifax Citadel. The lovely old hotel was a delight and the staff are wonderful.

I didn't realize until the last day of my reservation that some of the rooms had a window that would open for fresh air. It would have been a nice bonus, considering I stayed a week in the hotel.

The staff were friendly and accommodating; location is excellent and there are many interesting things to do and see nearby (you don’t need a car to get around the area); liked all the toiletries on offer; liked the towels and bed linen; loved that the wifi was excellent enough for me to work and handle zoom calls from my room; enjoyed the view from my second room (see explanation below); loved the charm of staying in an old hotel (for some reason it makes me recall some historical fiction books I’ve read)

I booked the Classic King Room after reading reviews that the Double Room was too small. The room turned out to be great, but the bathroom was too tiny and that - along with other minor inconveniences (such as not having breakfast included with the rate, the courtyard ‘view’, etc) - made me feel like it wasn’t worth the money I was paying. To their credit, they moved us to a different room when I said I was unhappy (see what I said about friendly and accommodating staff), but this was after we’d spent 2 nights already in the other room (which I wish we hadn’t been put in to begin with)

Centrally located and near the Public Gardens, the hotel has a great reputation and friendly staff. The room we had was large however the bathroom was really small. Coffee, cream and sugar were provided with a nice Nespresso machine.

I thought the parking charges were on the expensive side, adding $32 per day to the room price. I think this should be clear on the booking.com application.

The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the robe was so good that I ordered one to my house! Quiet hotel, allowed me to sleep peacefully. Location is excellent - right across from Public Gardens and around the corner from Spring Garden so easy walking access to Halifax. Umbrellas available to borrow and these were needed due to the humidity and rain. I would absolutely stay here again.

Great location right across from the public gardens, an easy walk to the Citadel and the waterfront. Comfortable clean room, Nestle Nespresso coffee maker in the room.

We had to pay extra for parking, which is understandable in the city, but the staff complained about us having our car in the front drive while we arranged for parking access. It wasn't at all clear how else we could have managed to drive to the hotel, check in, and then access the parking - I thought that's what those circular drives in front of the hotel were for. Hotel required a $100 deposit in addition to the amount invoiced, which I hadn't expected.

I always love coming to stay at the Lord Nelson. The building itself is gorgeous, especially the lobby, and there’s tons of bars and restaurants nearby. I literally just walked across the street and had an amazing meal at an Italian restaurant. Customer service is amazing too!!
