The manager was very good and we had a place to prepare our meals and there was free coffee and Tea

About the Spanish workers they were racism

Liked-Outside sitting areas front and back, large/wide bunk beds, coin laundry that works well, free coffee and filtered water plus some basic foods, quiet rooms plus plugin beside bed, comfy sofas in living room, helpful staff, and awesome music playing! Excellent value, convenient location. Highly recommend, and i would stay again as a first choice when in Ottawa for sure. 💯😎👊👍

Meh-supposed to take off your shoes inside (to cut down on the dirt), (but i have a foot injury so they were kind enough to let me wear my runners anyway), creamer/powder for the free coffee instead of just milk would be great too; but other than that its a pretty great hostel all around and i have traveled the globe so thats sayin' something. Cheers!

Great location in a nice area near to the major sights, supermarket and transport. Staff were great. The room was OK, and the bed was comfortable if wobbly and squeaky, and the thin iron ladder to the top bunk was painful on the feet. Nice common room with sofas and TV. The Well equipped kitchen with free tea and coffee was a nice touch.

The bunks could really do with an upgrade or at least tighten the bolts up regularly. There were a few long term people in my dorm (Africa) and they took over the space with lots of luggage and clothes. Maybe put them altogether in one dorm ? This would give others more room. Also a very noisy fan. But all in all was a nice stay thank you 😊

I was alone in my room, because there were too few people in general. It was clean, the location was okay - just 15 minutes walk from major places of interest. The personnel was nice, and kitchen was fine, although not quite good organized - as the sink and oven are distant from each other. There was much of home atmosphere.

It was cold during the night, as the heater in the room did not work, but I was provided with a convector heater. Renting a towel is 2 CAD - although that is quite a necessary thing for travellers.

I didn't eat breakfast because I had to early in the morning. The staff is fantastico. I had 2 nice conversations. One of them it was for iron I asked to iron my uniform and the second I had a little issue and the guy said I looked like a nice boy and let me in I really appreciated that He treats people like human beings Keep going like that brother it's a good goal for you I hope he get the message After that everything was fantastico.

Staff is always around to help you out if you need anything or have questions. The location is very nice, it's close by everything and it's really handy. The house itself is quite nice, you have everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom.

Extra $2 for a towel if you don't have yours. They provide bed sheet, pillow case and top sheet at the reception on arrival. You need to make your own bed and strip the bed on departure to give them back with your key on check out. There are some very very late check in (after midnight), meaning the poor guys have to make their bed at 2am, waking up the whole bedroom... I just reckon beds should be done before arrival, that would save all these troubles to late check in and guests already sleeping... Staff enters your room without knocking at the door and without even announcing themselves. Even the guests are more considering before entering their own room.

Great location, right by the Byward Market. I really liked the facilities, like the many full bathrooms that were very nice and private with all the hooks and shelves. I loved the balcony in front where you can always find someone nice to chat with!

The bunk beds are very shaky - if the person above or below moves, so do you! And I practically needed a circus degree to get up the rickety ladder the first night, but they thankfully agreed to switch me to the bottom bunk for the rest of my stay

Firstly, Canada stole my heart! My 8 days travelling through Montréal, Ottawa & Toronto are truly 8 of the best days I've had on this weird old floating rock. The team at Ottawa Backpackers are nothing short of fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. You'll be made to feel safe & welcome the minute you walk through the door. The other hostel guests were so respectful and a pleasure to live amongst for the short stay I had there. The facilities are, by far, some of the cleanest I've encountered in a hostel ever. The shower/toilet ("restroom") was something you'd expect to find in a hotel. This place completely exceeded my expectations. So good.

The staff were all super nice and accommodating. The free coffee provided was an extra perk! Very busy spot. Cool place for maybe up to a weeks stay. Lots of people always around, not a space for someone that is looking for a quiet/private place to stay while in Ottawa.

Only one person in the shared dorm room was quiet noisy from 10pm-3am while she was eating/packing to leave the hostel. It was a bit frustrating that night. Otherwise, showers were always available, and the other vacationers were all quiet and very respectful while in the dorm room.

Comfortable, homely atmosphere, conducive to great conversation and meeting fellow travellers. Small but well-organised. Good locker space, separate bathrooms, comfortable bed. Loved the shared lounge area downstairs. Short walking distance from the market, and a bit further to Parliament Hill.

Sometimes a bit warm in the room despite the ceiling fan. Kitchen felt a bit small for the amount of people staying, but worked fine. The location did not feel safe to walk in towards later afternoon/evening.
