Everything and everyone at Hotel Nelligan was exceptional…from check in to check out. We were able to walk to so many excellent spots because of its awesome location in old Montreal…so charming! We enjoyed several delicious breakfasts in a cozy nook facing the street and enjoyed people-watching as much as the delicious food. Everyone at front desk and valet were friendly and courteous. The topper was that I learned that the hotel was named after one of Canada’s most loved poets, Emile Nelligan. Having taught English literature for 25 years, with a focus on poetry, it was serendipitous that we decided on this hotel honoring a poet. A’ la prochaine, Montreal.

Nothing worth mentioning.

-Location: Simply fantastic. In the heart of Old Montreal with tons of shops, cafes, restaurants, and the port/waterfront all within walking distance. The easy-to-navigate Metro is also just a few blocks walk. -Staff/Service: Everyone we encountered was exceptional. Reception was welcoming, quick, and had our room ready to go 2 hours early. Valet immediately helped with our bags and called us a taxi upon our departure. Concierge helped us pick the easiest Metro route for some site-seeing and all the restaurant staff were friendly and prompt. -Bar Terasse: Very chic rooftop bar with great city views, delicious food (the best omelette I've ever had!), tasty cocktails and iced coffee, prompt service and the perfect music level. -Room: Loved the exposed brick. Bed was comfy, bathroom was spacious, shower/water pressure was great, and the climate control had the option for a non-stop fan which I appreciated for the white noise effect.

-Shower Amenities: Seems like dispensers for the shower could be helpful and utilize less plastic than individual bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. -Noise: To be clear, this was not the hotel's doing but I mention it in case others would like to be further informed about room selection. Our "atrium" room was facing an alley on the backside of the hotel. Each morning (between 5a-6a), the recycle service came through and the noise of the jostling glass bottles didn't last too long but was enough to wake us up.

The room was beautiful. Nicely decorated and comfortable. The other great thing they did, which you may not know is that they picked us up at the train station with their valet service. We didn't want to have a car while in Montreal.

The only complaint I have is our room location. We were looking to have a quiet space and they put us on the 5th floor (top floor). The only problem with this is that during the summer they have a terrasse on the room and room 504 is next to the door that leads out to the terrasse. During the day, not a big issue, but on a Friday or Saturday night it's not only the hotel guests who use the Terrasse it's also a bit of a hangout for Montrealers. So, it's loud for long into the night. We aren't party animals and were awaken a few times by people leaving via the elevator and then being loud in the tight street below our window.

More than anything we loved the location. Turn to either direction and you're in discovery mode. The cathederal and port and the old buildings are all there. In case you didn't know, we love to just explore new places and Montreal has always ranked as a must-see location for us! Pay attention to the use of the moose on trinkets and memorabilia. Very funny!!! Even the Batman logo replaces the bat with the moose...awesome!

The weather, of all things!! We packed for northern temps having monitored for weeks leading up to and would you believe, it hit 92deg in the city; it was 84 in Naples, Florida, where we live. Can't control the weather so we thought we'd packed for it, but nope!!

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. The location is amazing in the middle of Old Port with lots of things to do nearby and great cafes and restaurants.

As the location is situated in a very busy area, it can get quite loud from the street noise as well as partygoers at night. There are restaurants and bars directly below and across the property. I had to move rooms from street facing to one facing the courtyard. It was still fairly noisy, if not from the restaurant below then from housekeeping and their rolling carts throughout the day and night. I would suggest bringing earbuds/earplugs to sleep with. otherwise, it was a lively stay.

I can’t say enough good things about this beautiful boutique hotel. The rooms are elegantly appointed (we got a junior suite - well worth the price for the included amenities), the on site restaurant Nelli is phenomenal, valet parking is seamless, and the staff are committed to making your stay a memorable one. Simon and Alexia, the two concierge we had during our stay, made every effort to ensure we were cared for. When we checked in on Friday, I mentioned we were in town celebrating my birthday on Monday. Lo and behold, on Monday afternoon we had a special delivery of Prosecco on ice with a hand written note sent up to the room complements of the staff. These kinds of surprise and delight gestures really go a long way to create customer loyalty. We absolutely will be back the next time we visit Montreal.

Absolutely nothing. It was 10/10 perfect.

Conveniently located in historical area and within walking distance to museums, churches and history. The bistro/area was lovely and the breakfasts great. The staff were also very accommodating.

The halls and room were a little dark and gloomy. I also asked that they NOT use air freshener because it really stank up the room. Maybe it was the cleaning fluid they used but the room smelled strongly every day so they obviously didn’t get the message or had no control over the product. Luckily, we had a room on a courtyard and could open the doors to let out the smell.

Guest room large, bed comfortable, linens luxurious, bathroom well equipped. Public spaces warm and inviting. Old Montreal location unique on this continent. Staff wonderful. (Simon, an elegant concierge, was extraordinarily helpful.) Valet parking a cinch.

Food in both restaurants was not outstanding. Guest room and bathroom need warmer lighting. A few restaurant staff had trouble understanding English, astonishing given that Montreal is a bilingual city only 40 miles from the US.

The room and bed were very comfortable, and the shower had nice fixtures. The restaurant and bar had excellent food and drinks. The staff was very friendly. We would stay there again.

Our check-in was almost 2 hours late, so we sat in the bar waiting for the room. The front desk clerk comp'd a couple of drinks for us, which was very nice and mostly made up for the wait.

The location of the hotel was excellent, close to all the interesting attractions of the city. The hotel staff were lovely and courteous. Good breakfast. We upgraded the room to a suite, the room was a good size.

Although we upgraded to the largest room on the top hole, there were some glitches. The room smelled bad from the dampness, its proximity to the terrasse caused a lot of noise due to the proximity to the room. The water flow in the shower is weak.
