Majestic Colonial Punta Cana - All Inclusive

I can't say enough about how beautiful the grounds are, how nice the rooms are and the food was great also! We upgraded to the colonial club and don't regret it at all. Staff like Green, junior, freisca were amazing. Along with the woman in the colonial club lounge.

Let's talk about Francisco. He was our assigned butler for our stay. He's very nice and knowledgeable but every time we asked him for a reservation he would say to ask him later even though he asked us to go through him only. After asking him for the third time for a reservation for le gourmet he said we had a 7pm reservation for that night. We dressed up and got there and there was never a reservation made. We called and texted him and he has no answer for us. Other guests stated they had no problem getting a reservation but we could not. On our last day he came by and was annoyed we went to the front desk and asked them for a late checkout and not him. He said he would send someone up for out our bags at 2 that day any no one ever came. These are champagne problems but just still.

The resort is vast and very well-equipped. Great beach, and a nice large swimming pool. The compound is separated from the surrounding towns and feels very safe. There is very good WiFi all around the area, even outdoors. The rooms are large enough and I think all of them have a jacuzzi. Our room had an additional bedroom, so it was double the size. Jacuzzi is on the side of the room, so there is no privacy (bear in mind if you travel with family/children). There is a great balcony for all rooms. The poolside balconies are great, but you will have the noise of exercise activities and unwanted loud music each afternoon for around 1 hr. The food is good and there are many varieties. Breakfast is fantastic. There are several restaurants that you can book and have dinner in (in addition to many many places that you can eat). Book them as soon as you arrive. There is a market just outside the compound for buying souvenirs. The sellers are VERY keen to sell but harmless. They are all very nice people. But don’t forget to negotiate the price. American Dollar is the main currency everyone is interested in. We use Booking.com transfers to/from the hotel which worked very well and was at a great price.

Unfortunately, the toilet is very small with a glass door and is again unsuitable for families/children. But there are many clean public toilets around the resorts.

The amenities, view, entertainment, and people were amazing! There was always something to do and moments to relax! I was truly amazed at all we got for the price! Just an overall good time!

Property was amazing, but I caution people to keep receipts so upon checkout you have proof of payment. Me and another individual had to wait 30 minutes to checkout because they act as though they couldn’t find reservations or proof of payment upon checkin. I also had to ask for my checkout receipt just in case the charge isn’t accurate after I’m gone. Thankfully I had my receipt and screenshot of the exact amount paid. I made sure to go back to the desk and show the manager my check in receipt. It just bothered me that they don’t take accountability as a company when something goes wrong, but they blame whomever checked you in. So be careful when paying! It’s a beautiful property but they will try you.

The beach was very clean, the food was really tasty, the staff was very nice. The complex is large and very clean and well maintained from the outside. There is always something to do there, whether the weather is sunny or raining.

The loud music (until about 11:30 p.m.) disturbed us in room 2104 (family side) every evening (except on rainy days). According to me these events should be organized on the adult side and not on the family side. The room door was broken and not insulated at all and we all heard loud conversations from guests in the hallway at night. Both sinks were broken and leaked water on the floor. Toilet too small for tall people.

Beautiful resort and beach, lovely pool, lots of animation (aerial yoga, zumba, volleyball, ping pong, dancing, etc.) and nice choices for restaurants. The staff are friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

We got to talking with some of the locals who work at the resort and they told us about the working conditions. We were surprised to learn that the staff works 12-hour shifts. Some of them work 7 or 8 days in a row without seeing their families. A couple of them seemed really tired. I don’t know about labor laws in the Dominican Republic, but it seems exploitative. I hope that the resort would treat their employees well, give them sufficient breaks during their shift, and pay them a decent wage relative to the cost of living in the DR.

Staff was very friendly. Edwin went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable.

The beach was horrible and I was not able to go into the water. The enter beach was covered in seaweed. I also did not enjoy the Taino restaurant, the service was horrible and for being a Dominican restaurant in the Dominican Republic, I expected the food to be at least decent. It was horrible.

Service is good. Resort is beautiful and clean (outside, garden etc). Rooms cleaning - less . Pool is large and nice. Entertainment is good.

Hotel mostly should have comfortable beds and pillows and have clean rooms. This one doesn't meet these requirements. Beds are old mattress sinking, slanted and too soft. Very bad nights sleep. Smell of smoke every night, not sure what it was maybe from the area and hotel doesn't have control over it but still it ruins the experience.

Hotel room was clean and spacious, big comfortable bed, there was 1 EU plug socket in the room, wifi available in all resort, pools clean but shallow, beach is well maintained. Food was average, though stakes restaurant was really good. Towels in rooms changed 2 times a day. Good cocktails, nice live music every evening. Big shopping center, punta blanca mall, right next the main gate of hotel.

There were too little beach beds at the beach. If you come there around noon, all of them will be already taken. Most of the staff barely speaks english, only knows few words, can't ask them anything. Room service super slow. Terrible coffee in restaurants, club lounge had coffee machine but during our 2 weeks stay most of the time it was broken. Seafood in seafood restaurant always overcooked.

I love our stay in Majestic Colonial. We got the all-inclusive package and it’s really worth it. The food and drinks are really great and there’s a lot of options. The staffs are very accommodating especially Francisco (the butler) take his time to tour us and gave us freebies such as caps and slippers. All throughout our stay, he accommodated us and our requests. Also, they have various restaurants and cuisines that you could choose from. We love Juan from Taino Restaurant and Alejandro from Matsuri Restaurant for being attentive and friendly. Also, thank you Steven from Colonial Club Longue for booking our excursion and covid tests hassle-free. We also enjoyed the other amenities they have such as pool, jacuzzi, spa, the beach, 24/7 room service and others.

The only thing that I didn’t like is the Tres Carabales Restaurant as they only have 2 person taking the order, so we waited for an hour just to order our food.

The drink list was very good as was the quality of the restaurants and the facility as a whole. We especially enjoyed the room service and the activities program. The beach, pool and swim up bar were also very nice.

There was no facilities orientation and the check in / check out process was very disorganized. Also, the restaurant seating procedures were unclear (people were not seated on a first come first serve basis - apparently is was based on who complained the most about having to wait). In the end of our stay a member of staff tried to force us to write a stellar review in google (even to the point of telling us to rewrite our first response according to his dictation) that included his name even though we had not interact with this guy during our stay. It appears his job is to ensure the resort gets only positive reviews.
