A beautiful bed and breakfast in an excellent location in the charming champagne village of Ay. Dominique and Valerie are exceptional hosts and provide wonderful accommodations. The rooms are very spacious (and super clean) and we enjoyed the towel warmer in the suite and large living area to have coffee in the morning and a glass of champagne in the evening before dinner. Breakfast is very good with local breads, croissants, cheeses, yogurt, and meat, along with perfectly prepared soft boiled eggs in a traditional french setting. Thanks to Dominque’s recommendation, we spent most of the day exploring the champagne houses of Hautvillers and Ay and stayed away from crowded Epernay since we like local family run wine houses. If you are a hiker, there is an exceptional 4 mile loop hike up into the vineyards to the village of Mutigny and back which was amazing. Le Clos d ‘Ay is perfect place to unwind, explore local villages, and stroll in the vineyards hosted by warm and gracious hosts. Highly recommend. Could have stayed another night or two!

This seemed to us like being in France for real. Valerie and Dominic welcome you into their home warmly. The room was characterful, the bed comfortable and the bathroom immaculate. The room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent and featured local and home made products. Also there is little use of single use plastics with jams and such like being provided in portion sized ceramic or glass dishes. Excellent idea to save waste. If you’re planning a visit to Bollinger then this property is ideal as it is less than 5 minutes walk from there. Car parking is available on site.
Nothing we did not like.

Our room (perhaps no.4?) was spacious. There was a very comfortable bed, a sitting room with coffee & tea and a large bathroom. Aÿ-en-Champagne is an amazing village in the middle of the Champagne region. It was quiet (unlike Reims) and easy to walk around. There are several good restaurants in the area, some of which can be easily walked to. Dominick and Valerie are superb hosts and gave us lots of good tips on what to do and see during our brief visit.
Really, the entire stay was great. The telly was a bit small, but that seems like a complete nothing - why would we watch telly? The parking is a bit cramped, but when we were there, only 3 of the possibly 4 spaces were taken so it was easy in and out.

This hotel is a hidden gem the complete ambience was just perfect, secure parking behind wooden electric gates, the rooms were spotless and very well furnished we had 4 rooms and all were to the highest standard, the bathrooms have top class fittings, The breakfast was a continental menu and was delightful. I will return very soon and in the mean time two friends have already looked to book on our recommendation.
Nothing not to like about this hotel

We have been back for over a month now since our short stay in the Champagne region, but the stay Le Clos D'Ay was so unforgettable that my wife Nicole and I definitely want to leave a word of praise for Valerie and Dominique as the owners of this Hotel/B&B. It is a great place to stay and we have never met any more welcoming hosts than this couple. The English was not perfect, but that just added to the charm and it forced us to practice our limited French knowledge again ! Hospitality is written with a big capital H in this place. I have not been to many places where the attention to detail was taken so seriously (local cookies and sweets in the room, the room super-cleaned every day, etc......). The room is cosy and the bathroom has all the modern facilities. And it is dead-quiet at night. And then there is the breakfast ! There is lots of everything, there is a serious variety of meats, cheese, baguettes, croissants, local honey, not to mention the local yoghurt with berries, home-made jam, juice and coffee. The day could not start any better ! Driving the car onto the hotel's premises required a bit of manoeuvring, but it is free and very practical as parking in this small village is not simple. Our hosts were very helpful in pointing out which champagne houses to visit in the neighbourhood and which restaurants worth visiting for dinner. My wife and I are very critical, but we have no qualms giving them a 10 out of 10 as they fully deserve it.
Leaving Le Clos d'Ay and saying 'au revoir' to this friendly couple on Monday the 18th.......

Small, family run hotel, felt like being in their home. Warm friendly reception & useful visit/tasting recommendations, spotlessly clean, lovely big room and bed, wonderful bathroom/wet room tea & coffee making facilities with fresh water & milk in mini fridge, delicious freshly baked bread & croissants, homemade conserves, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, ham & cheeses for breakfast. Quiet location in Aŷ, easy walking distance of shops, museum etc but taxi-able to Epernay. Secure gated parking (quite tight!)on site.
Nothing!

The proprietors were very friendly, always accessible, and obviously committed to providing good service and facilities to ther guests. They provide an excellent breakfast. The house is located in the centre of Aÿ, so shops, restaurants, champagne houses and local attractions are accessible on foot. Parking is in the courtyard of the house, which made it very convenient for us.
We caught a spell of hot weather, so our room at the top of the house could have been cooler, although to be fair, a good fan was provided.

Lovely room, totally spotless and beautifully decorated. The hosts were also very friendly and even though we didn't speak French, we communicated via google translate! The hosts even booked us a dinner reservation when the local restaurant was unexpectedly closed for the evening. The breakfast was also brilliant - so tasty and fresh.
There aren't a lot of restaurants open Mon/Tues so bear in mind that you'll need to get in the car and drive. No reflection at all on the accommodation - more location.

The place was beautiful, the rooms were exceptionally comfortable, quality bed and bed linen. The bathroom facilities were excellent. The breakfast was traditional French and lovely. The hosts were there if required but not under your feet.
Nothing against the property we stayed in, but it would have been nice for a little bit more going on in Ay itself.

Cossy rooms, nice and antique style room set up. Excelent breakfast. Owner very helpful - has proposed us options for taxi (a must when all drivers are testing champagne :)), for champagne houses, for restaurants, for places and villages around, for the the best Reims biscuits :). Thank you for your hospitality. We will definitely come back.
all perfect
