The Hotel is in an excellent location, just a 2 minute walk to the central Square (La Comedie). The Hotel is a lovely quirky, boutique style with lots of character. The breakfast was good wirh lots of choice, and the afternoon tea was also a great idea, and a nice way to relax after a day's sightseeing. The room was comfortable and very clean, and was serviced daily really well by housekeeping throughout our stay. The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly, and fabulous customer service. We were very impressed and would definitely choose to stay here again.

Hotel Royal is a lovely and comfortable hotel very near (but not 'too' near!) the main railway station for Montpellier. It is simple and efficient, well equipped, pretty in design, and very fresh and clean. The beds were excellent and comfy. The staff were very helpful with our awkward questions about luggage and taxis. We were glad we took advantage of the daily tea time in the afternoon -- nice touch. Oh and they play pretty cool music in the main lounge on the ground floor. Guests would be hard pressed not to find this hotel a nice experience and also very good value for money.

It was just a small glitch but there was a cable loose to our television which prevented us from receiving a decent signal -- we let the front desk know.

Hotel is in a great location for exploring Montpellier on foot or exploring further afield by the train (station is 5 mins away). Room was very spacious and clean. Nice fresh decor and new bathroom with shower. Towels were nice and soft. Tea and coffee facilities. Staff were always helpful and friendly. The afternoon tea was a nice touch.

Our room (which we couldn’t fault at all) was right by the kitchen and a store room and so it was quite noisy in the early morning when staff were preparing breakfast - plates clattering and chatting. A couple of nights there was lots of noise from there too around 11.45pm (sounded like dishwasher was being emptied of glasses!) You could hear people coming in late and using the night bell. As we stayed 6 nights it was a bit annoying!

Very nice hotel and super helpful and friendly staf! It was a delight to stay here for one week. The breakfast was very extended (different types of bread/pain au chocolat, cheese, meat, fruits, eggs, cereals, spreads...) and the locations was right in the centre. Walking distance from the train station Saint-Roche. One day we rented bikes and we could easily leave them in the hotel over night (bien sûre, they replied). If you want to rent a bike, we recommend Ville et Vélo. The bikes were so good and the owner was super friendly.

There is no space to sit outside/terras. But we didn't miss this since we could just go out and go to a pub of restaurant.

I'm not sure how recent the refurb was on this hotel but it feels brand new. Not a single thread out of place, not a patch of faded paint to be found. The staff also feel brand new. They are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We arrived a few hours early and they happily stored our bags and said we could check in an hour later (still 3 hours early). They also offered us tea, coffee, cake, pastries etc in the lobby if we wanted to wait. We opted to go for a stroll and come back, but that was a lovely touch nonetheless. The place is full of thoughtful little touches such as complimentary afternoon tea (a nod to their 'Royal' theme), free access to the coffee machine and even the option to borrow yoga mats should one feel the need for a bit of downward dog. We stayed during a 40 degree heatwave and the air con was more than up to the job!

central location. Nice modernised old building, but character of building has been kept. Rooms look on to street (no Cars, just tram way & pedestrians or to central courtyard which is shared with residents as building is no 100% hotel. Nice room. everything we needed, nice feel to hotel, relaxed. Free tea and cake between 4 -6 pm is a nice touch as Montpellier is not large city so easy to return to hotel to relax for an hour or so and then go out again.

Wifi could be better through the hotel and if you have a room looking teh courtyard Mobile coverage is poor

I liked everything but if I had to change anything the bath should be replaced with a shower instead of a shower bath. It’s more suited for short guests as the shower head is low.

The hotel is in an excellent location, we only stayed 3 days but went to Sete one day and the beach another, both easy on public transport. The hotel rooms are fresh and decorated nicely. The staff were lovely and super helpful. Montpellier old town is a great place for a wander and on the doorstep. Tea and cake in the afternoon was a nice touch.

In our room we had a shower over a bath with no curtain, the shower was good but we had to be a bit careful but not a problem.

A five minute walk from the Montpellier St Roch train station, the Hotel Royal is perfectly situated, with easy access to the Place de la Comedie and a tram line in front of the hotel. A beautiful old Belle Epoque building, the interior is tastefully contemporary. The room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed, great amenities, and a large, enclosed wrought iron balcony overlooking the pedestrian walkway. Afternoon tea is a great touch! The staff was delightful - knowledgable, helpful, and exceptionally friendly. Learning about our interest in the city, Pauline sought us out at breakfast to offer sightseeing recommendations. A better representative for the hotel and city I can't imagine. We look forward to returning to this wonderful property.

Nothing I would change. It's a great property and an excellent value.

Modern but cozy hotel. The room was spacious, clean and really comfortable. The A/C was functional and the room had a balcony. The staff was really nice and helpful. Afternoon tea was included, although we did not have the chance to experience it. Really close both to train station and main square Place de la Comédie.

The only thing missing was a mini fridge. Breakfast was not included but you could purchase it if you wanted.
