The Generator is a great place for solo travellers if you're staying in Paris. You have lots of options, you can stay in a room with a lot of people if you're a social person or in a smaller room with fewer people if you're not much of a social person (me). Have a private bathroom, shower and sink in the room was great. Staff were friendly and helpful, there's a security guy and also snack machines inside. There's also a rooftop bar to hangout and a café with lunch and dinner options. Supermarket (Franprix) nearby with ready to eat meals was great. There's also a metro station (Line 2 - Colonel Fabbien) right next to the Hostel.

Overall the stay was pretty good, the only thing I didn't like was specific to my room (511). The shower rattled very loudly when you turned it on, it would wake up my roommates if it was late.

- central location, easily reachable by public transit - friendly staff - common areas for guests - food and drinks available + vending machines - easy and quick check-in and checkout

- rooms a little uncomfortable - bathroom really small and tight - bathroom could be cleaner and better taken care of

My best experience with hostel in Paris this far! They are a real hostel chain with a good system in place. They do have automated luggage locker (paid), and I especially appreciate how the bathroom and toilet is only shared with the roommated. The room was spacious and very clean, not to mention very comfortable. The bed was solid with individual electricity socket and lamp. I was there for only a night, but I had hoped that I found it earlier.

The staff was not the greatest. I think they might hire international people in Paris. Out of 3-4 staff I communicated with, at least 1 was a little unfriendly when I asked for an information. I mean, no need to tell me 'google it' because if I decided to ask you I must have googled it and believe that a local who work in the hostel should be more knowledgeable about it.

Staff particularly bar staff were super friendly. the location was ver accessible, close to the metro and easy walking distance to cafes, boulangeries, bars etc

hot water was a bit intermittent- but I may have been because there were a few large school groups there during our stay. there is also no common kitchen so you can’t make a coffee/ store any food- not an issue just a surprise for a hostel- but the prices at the bar downstairs were fair for coffee and drinks :)

There was a washroom/ and shower in our room; there were USB ports for charging at each bed as well as local outlets; Room itself was clean. Clean sheets were received Very safe area Very safe in terms of luggage There were fun activities available on site such as Ping Pong and bike rentals.

I had to sleep on the top bunk and it was very uncomfortable on my feet having to climb such narrow metal ladders. I found breakfast to be a bit on the pricy side, however considering it was unlimited I wouldn't complain, it did give me the option to go and explore the real Parisian cafe experience...my favorite was down the street.

Very nice place, well located a few steps from Metro line 2. Very close to Saint Martin chanel and many trendy bars and restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful, I asked to move to another room so I could be together with other Volunteers for the Paris Olympics and Lilén at the front desk immediately let me exchange even though it was already late in the afternoon and long passed checkout time. 😀 Also the sink was clogged and I went to the front desk to ask to be fixed and by the time I return to the room maintenance was already there to fix it! Awesome response 👏

Cleaning is not done properly in the rooms if you are staying for a long period. Dust accumulated underneath the beds and some window seals. Basically they clean all the visible parts but not the hidden ones, so the beds are clean and linens are nice but if you look under the beds (I had dropped something and was looking for) it is dirty.

I loved the hospitality and social spaces for casual talks/meeting people, games like ping pong, or just relaxing to yourself. I like how the room and bathroom are separated so if one is occupied you're not waiting around to use the other as well. I also loved the different room options - 4 bed, 6 bed, 8 bed, and private. The facilities cleanliness is above satisfaction.

Depending on when you go or around the time of day, the area can be a bit worrisome immediately away from the front entrance. Homeless usually camp out in the area knowing visitors stay at the generator - I would say the hostel's security are pretty okay with not allowing any disturbances in the lobby/reception area. The thing I DISLIKE the most is the hostel not providing ice water in the middle of summer, even upon request. Lastly, I air dried every night refusing to pay to "rent" a towel. Being from the US, that is apart of the bed and linen and doesn't need to be requested.

the hostel internet is very HORRIBLE. For those who work and need to upload files and videos. I do NOT recommend.

I liked how spacious the room was (8 beds dorm), it was rather easy to get my stuff, get ready for the day and not disturb anyone. The room was fully booked throughout my stay yet I have not experienced any space-related discomfort even once. The showers and toilet were nice and clean, I also liked having a sink in the room, so you can brush your teeth or do your skincare routine without occupying the restroom.

The rooftop bar was a letdown. It is closed in the mornings, doesn't offer any non-alcoholic beverages and when I wanted to sit down for a bit there - I was told that they only serve alcoholic drinks and food, no tea or coffee and only buying customers are welcome. It is an underutilized space in the mornings and many people would enjoy having breakfast or coffee with a nice rooftop view.

I had a fantastic stay at [Hostel Name]. The location is perfect, with easy access to all the main attractions. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel right at home. The hostel was spotlessly clean, and the showers were excellent – always hot and with great water pressure. The decor of the hostel was charming and added to the overall welcoming atmosphere. Despite these minor issues at the (Bar) my overall experience was wonderful, and I would definitely recommend this hostel to others.

I was a bit disappointed with the bar. The prices were quite steep, with a 330 ml bottle of Heineken costing 10 euros. Additionally, the pizza we ordered was lacking in quality and flavor.
