The view from the room was nice. The breakfast was super delicious, very well thought of. We were given guest cards which let us travel for free within Berchestgaden.

The lady at the reception was super rude, not sure if it was because of my ethnicity or if she was like that in general. If the management is reading this review please train her to be a little polite, tourists shell out a lot of money and that keeps the GDP flowing, a rude and a straight face is certainly not what we look for when we spend 250 euros a night( and this is only on hotel). The location is a bit off and the last bus to the hotel leaves at 1815 otherwise be ready to shell out 20 euros on taxi. Only 1 restaurant close by and that needs reservation.

Loved the property itself, it was rustic and charming without giving up modern amenities, and the view from our room was perfect! Fantastic breakfast offering, well worth the price, and the restaurant next door was good for dinner. The staff was very accommodating and the owners were often onsite and very helpful.

We enjoyed sleeping with our windows open for cool air since there was no air conditioning, but the smoking spot and ashtray were right below our room. As non-smokers we didn’t enjoy frequently smelling cigarettes, but I must note it wasn’t noticeable with windows closed. It was a little off the beaten path and not as close to town as I thought based on my research. No lunch options on site or within walking distance, which was only an issue when some members of our traveling party had a down day at the property instead of sightseeing.

Big comfortable room, kitchenette was great to have, loved the mountain view and the sofa.

There was a church about 50m away that rang it's bells very loudly and for over a minute at 7am every morning. Made it impossible to sleep in, even with the windows and shutters closed. Bells then rang every hour after that until 10pm. Not the fault of the hotel but definitely had a big impact on how much we enjoyed staying there. We would never stay here again as a result. Also, it was hot when we visited and there was no AC or a fan. Because of the church we kept our windows closed to try and reduce the noise but it made the room very hot.

We had a very nice stay at the Alpenresidenz Buchenhöhe. The rooms are very big. Our room had a view of the mountains. The kitchenette was modern and well equipped. We had plenty of room for 2 elders and 2 children. Even our infant could crawl in the hall and was not restricted to his infant bed. On the day of our arrival we could enjoy two hours of beautiful summer rain in the mountains from our room. Restaurant Holzkäfer, which is a traditional Bavarian restaurant is less than 50m away from this hotel. Just make sure to reserve ahead, else this place can get pretty full in the evening. Alpenresidenz is quite close to the parking place from which a bus goes to the Eagles nest. A shopping complex with Rewe, DM and Lidl is reachable from Alpenresidenz at a 15 min driving distance. The breakfast spread was quite extensive and costed 13 hours (not included in the stay). Overall we had a wonderful time in the mountains and shall return again when our children are big enough to hike.

The breakfast was exeptipnal. They had a huge selection of food. Omelette, yogurts, fresh fruit, baked goods, granola, salmon and much more! They offered locally produced milk. The location of the hotel itself was amazing! We had breakfast outside and it was wonderful. Our room was clean and spot on! They had complimentary coffee and tea as well! The bed was really comfortable! They offer a lot of tourist leaflets and books so you can choose from various programs to do in the city. You can visit the Eagle's Nest from there and a lot of hiking trails as well. If you feel fit enough you can park closer to the location and start your hike up there! Koenigsee is pretty close from there with car!

There is nothing really to write down. I liked everything. I have no complaints. :) We got what we expected! We would visit again for sure!

This is an absolutely beautiful, stunning place with the charm of the typical Bavarian Alps. The staff is extremely friendly and very accomodating. Rooms were like little apartments, totally clean and modern, with kitchen, beautiful bathroom, separate bedroom and living area. Views and selection of outdoor activities are phenomenal. Since we were a geology field trip[ of 12 people, our interest were in the of the Berchtesgaden vicinity. You are also close to historic Salzburg and other great locations. BTW, you are very close (2km) to the "Eagles Nest" location and museum, if you are a WWII history buff.

Not much we didn't like. It is a little off the beaten path. The drive up to the facility is a but lengthy but very pleasant on paved, alpine roads.

Unique view, quiet, nature was like a fresh vegetable bowl. Room was very spacious and nice. Bed was very comfortable.

The walls were thin, we woke up when the next rooms children did start sceaming and running at 6 am on both mornings. During time of departure the hotel receptionist was a little bit unpolite. We and the previous customer both got embarrasing treatment as our hotel bill was more than 300 euros and the receptionist tried to get payment by contactless payment and surprise the payment did not go through. The only feedback was that card is not working or there is not enough money on our account. I know I had that much money that I could have paid several weeks stay on this hotel. The treatment we got was very humiliating because this happened among of other hotel customers.

The setting is amazing. Did not research it as much as our other stays as it was the last leg of our vacation but what a pleasant surprise. The room was spacious, the bathroom modern. It had the charm of old Bavaria but with modern conveniences. Stayed there for three days and would definitely return. Check out was earlier than we thought, 10:00. My husband had gone down to put the bags in the car and returned telling me we were suppose to be out by 10 and it was 10:20. We grabbed our remaining stuff, hurried down, and only to be greeted by a receptionist laughing hysterically at the sight of us. She said it was no problem, continued laughing, and proceeded to show us pictures of the hotel from the recent winter snow. Charming restaurant next door.

Nothing that I can think of.

The Residenz is great, located in a small quiet village. The Eagle's Nest is reachable from here only by foot. The room had everything needed, nice and clean bathroom, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen. The Check-in is only until 6pm, but there is a possibility to pick up the keys from the key safe in case of later arrival which was a very nice surprise. Its not the cheapest accommodation especially counting in the tax for the stay, but we enjoyed the stay and would definitely come back in case we would be in this region.

I loved having two rooms, and a kitchenette to make our own meals. Best to get groceries before making the climb to this hotel. I loved the view of the mountains and the very close proximity to the mountain pass. I'm sure I would have liked the breakfast too. It looked awesome with lots of hot and cold varieties, but it didn't come with the room, and we really couldn't afford the extra expense as a family of 6. It was always so nice to come back to a clean room after a long day out with kids. Super!

It is high on the mountain. It wasn't a negative for us, we expected it. But it is a steep 15 minute climb from Berchtesgaden and descent to Berchtesgaden, so keep that in mind in your planning. The village is small. It does have a small convenient store and a mountain restaurant which we didn't try. But if you are looking for variety, this isn't the place. However, the hotel isn't far from beautiful vistas and hiking trails, which is exactly what we were looking for.
