Hotel Garni Brunnthaler

Plenty of space, very clean and fully equipped with everything you may need. Bathroom windows have a great view of the Zugspitze and the night sky! Staff is friendly and helpful. Big supermarket only a short walk away and the restaurants not far either. Balcony was also very nice to chill in the evening (I even got to see a beekeeper work on one of the rooftops!).

It is quite varied and looks nice, but expected a little more from the breakfast, as it was missing things like sausages, bacon, more pastries and cakes, etc. Not a huge deal and maybe just bad expectations on my part. I preferred to buy from the supermarket and/or make it myself in the apartment.

This felt like you were a guest in a home. Every staff member was exceptional! The young lady running the breakfast was so helpful and lovely! The man at the desk gave me exact directions to do my activities. The balcony in my room looked toward the mountains and was so relaxing! There was complimentary drinks and chocolate. This was one of the best run hotels I have stayed in! The hotel is an easy 9 minute walk from train station in a gorgeous quiet neighborhood but also close to restaurants! They give you a free bus pass that even got me to Mittenwald one night for dinner.

Nothing. The bed was a bit hard for my back but most people would be okay with it.

Such a lovely hotel for so many reasons! We had mentioned when we booked our room that we were staying as part of our wedding anniversary and when we arrived the hotel had left two lovely strawberry cheesecakes, a mini bottle of champagne and turned our pillows into swans with red confetti. This was such a lovely touch and totally unexpected! And after our long day the cake went down a treat! The room was fab, with a balcony which had a great view of the surrounding mountains. The staff could not have been more helpful. The lady at breakfast was lovely and very attentive. When we said we planned to go up the Zugspitze the following day the guy on reception advised we went up early and got the 9:15am train - this was great advice as this gave us plenty of time up the mountain without it being really busy. Also a plus point this hotel is literally a 5 minute walk to the Zugspitze station, so great that you don't have to drive. I hadn't known this when I booked so this is certainly a perk. The hotel is also a 5 minute walk to the centre of Garmisch with all its shops and restaurants - we heartily recommend Gaststätte Flößerstuben restaurant, the best venison stew and dumplings I had all trip! Both myself and my husband would recommend this hotel to anyone and if we ever go back, we'll be rebooking with Hotel Garni Brunnthaler!

Nothing! It was all great

My 2 day stay was perfect. The room is no-frills and functional. The place is ideally located, close to downtown with a abundance of good restaurants nearby. Breakfast is a great value with excellent products: for instance bacon is perfectly cooked, crispy and crunchy. I happened to have broken the desk lamp when packing and was ready to pay for the damage. I told the lady in charge, she went to have a look, told me I owed nothing and gave me some chocolates as a souvenir. Wow. These people are professional, friendly and gracious: great ambassadors of the German hotel industry. Outstanding.

What a great find! This property is in an excellent location for walking to the center of town for shopping and dining. The room was quite sizeable, extremely clean and very comfortable. Our room had plenty of surfaces for setting bags/suitcases, a nice balcony, and modern bathroom with a great shower. The view of the surrounding mountains was amazing. All in all, we were very pleasantly surprised and were sad when it was time to leave.

We really enjoyed the welcoming staff, the balcony, the breakfast, the sauna, and the location. I didn't expect that such a small building would have an elevator, it's really a bonus, for whom it matters. We received essential recommendations about trips in the area and it was very helpful.

It may be petty and really unimportant, but it's more convenient to dry off after a shower with bigger, softer towels and when there's a soap bottle with a pump dispenser inside the shower.

Location was good and facilities were quaint

The use of the keys to get in and out of the rooms and hotel were challenging to deal with.

Location was perfect for walking everywhere in downtown Garmisch. I didn't try the breakfast because I had a small kitchenette which was perfect for making breakfast and some easy dinners as well. Plenty of room to relax and a fantastic balcony with a beautiful view of the Kramer and the Alpspitze.

Parking was available, but was tight and difficult due to the arrangement of parking spaces.

Very clean room, very friendly staff, easy access after hours with a key card. Breakfast was reasonable without being remarkable, and well-priced for what it was. This is a very exclusive area of Germany and everything is expensive. Under the circumstances, the Hotel Garni Brunnthaler is doing a great job serving their customers.

The parking was tight and required some skill to navigate. But land in this area is very expensive. This makes the tight parking situation understandable.

Good location, short walk to shops and restaurants or to ski bus stop. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff - the lady who prepared breakfast each day was lovely and the manager on reception was really helpful and friendly. It felt as though it might be family-run. There was a ski storage room in the cellar of the hotel and plenty of parking. Room was very clean and we had a spacious living area with dining table and sofa. Breakfast was good, with fresh eggs and bacon each day.

We stayed in an apartment across from the hotel. It had a kitchenette in the hallway with a small hob which is fine for making eggs etc. but not a full meal. The sofa was quite solid and the shower was not powerful.
