Durer-Hotel

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is in Old Town near the castle walls. Just a short walk outside you will be in a friendly cobblestone plaza where locals share a beer and maybe a few sausages in a lively but not overly loud environment. You will be reasonable close to two U-bahn stops U3 and U1 and you will feel like you are in living in a different time.

The main thing I did not like was that the gym was very hard to get to and located in an obscure place. I had toask for the key and a guide from the front desk to get there and even the guide (who was new) had a hard time finding it. It is there, as is the sauna, but it is not easy to access in my opinion.

Fantastic location - it is in a beautiful part of Nuremberg. Reception and breakfast staff were friendly. Breakfast was good and I liked room. It was good value for money.

Housekeeping kept trying to clean my room at 8.30am everyday, even on the day I was checking out. On the last morning I put the do not disturb sign on my door when I went down to breakfast at 8.30am and house keeping rushed to my door to clean it, saw the sign and left it. As I was leaving around 9.30am to check out, I forgot to remove the do not disturb sign and was told off by house keeping for leaving it on. I was a bit surprised by their aggression considering it was just a sign. I did wonder what would have happened if I hadn’t put the sign on the door because they would have cleaned the room before I had checked out, leaving the room unclean for the next person. Perhaps I could have put the do not disturb sign on my door overnight but then I thought they would not clean it at all.

The location was ideal, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was an elegant and hearty experience. Excellent service from Roderigo at breakfast. He was attentive and friendly. The beautifully decorated lobby was warm and cozy. The perfect place to relax on the couches by the Christmas tree. There was also seating that allowed us to play cards after visiting the nearby Christmas market.

Having to check out! Our sons did not think the WiFi was fast enough.

Information on Booking about parking was ambiguous on the customer point of view, not clear if was free or not. It says private parking (but owned by the hotel), not from a 3rd party, so I didnt expect to pay for it, but in the end it was paid. Not a big deal, but this needs to be more clear to avoid future confusions.

I loved everything about the hotel. Especially Isabel at reception always with a smile & willing to help. Thank you Isabel. & I forgot the name of the Greek young man who was so helpful & attentive for anything I wanted in the breakfast room. He never stops smiling & that makes anyone feel at home. The food was fantastic & the room was so cozy & very well furnished with a super comfortable bed. I suggest to anyone going to Nurnberg to stay at the Durer hotel. A clean, comfortable room in an excellent location. (It's about a 25-minute walk from the train station, so you might want to take a cab. Very close to the Dürer house (next door!) and the castle. The breakfast buffet is included in the room rate and is one of the best I've seen anywhere: not just the usual stuff, but half a dozen different juices, lots of meats, cheeses, breads, and fresh fruit, a big thermos of coffee on every table.

The hotel is in an excellent location and the breakfast was good. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. We thought the little garden at the back of the hotel was delightful.

The rooms have no central airconditioning and the nights were very warm during our stay. This is, however, fairly typical of European hotels. An electric fan is provided in the room which cooled it down at night. The sauna seems to be permanently closed.

Fantastic selection at the breakfast buffet, bring your appetite! The bar was open late as well which was nice. The location can't be beat - a few minutes walk to the Christmas Market with lots of dining and bars nearby and the beautiful lit wall just up the street. The parking is a little odd but I was thankful to have my rental car parked indoors over a snowy December weekend.

The location is second to none. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of fresh food. By European standards the room was adequate in size, clean and quiet.

I'm no fan of innerspring mattresses. I prefer a latex mattress for firmness and a touch of luxury. There was only one pillow, so no choice if you did not like the fluffy, square European style pillow. I'm sure I could have asked for something else because the staff had been extra helpful with the tricky car parking (there are car stackers which require quite exact parking) so I can't and won't complain. A minor matter given that everything else was great.

Location, clean, beautiful back yard, convenient parking against a fee.

When I checked out at 6am to get to the airport I was told that check out isn’t until 7am, I should have checked out the night before. That’s the first time I heard about fixed check out times. Luckily someone was there to check me out but it should have been communicated at check in.
