The breakfast buffet was superb. A range of hot food, including deliciously light pancakes and the best bacon I've eaten. I loved the skyr, fruit and granola "bar". Two juice and coffee stations so even when it was very busy there was a maximum one person wait to get a drink. Staff cleaned away dirty plates quietly and efficiently - save your cutlery if you want to go for another round of food! The coffee was excellent. We filled out water bottles and thermos cups for the day before we left - which was considered completely acceptable. The bread, pastries and meats/cheese/salmon/sliced veggies selection were also very good. We were at Fosshotel for Christmas, Haust was decorated really tastefully for the festive season, with a mini "santa" playhouse for small children. Though most children there were incredibly well behaved and ate quietly. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. We have teen and adult children who appreciated the free Wifi! The rooms were very clean and comfy. Though a little too warm for our liking - we opened the windows at night to cool down. The cool -5 C air reduced the temp a bit but the rooms were still warm, we turned off the radiators. Bedding was clean and crisp. Nice, fluffy towels too! Lovely shampoo/bodywash and conditioner. We had intended on staying 3 nights and then travel to Vik but due to the road being closed we couldn't go. The reception staff were amazing. Our children were able to stay in their room and my husband and I moved (we had to move from a large suite to a standard double) but they found one opposite our children's room. The standard double was smaller but just as lovely. Underground parking (small fee) with lifts to all floors was ideal. No scraping snow off the car in the morning!

The scrambled eggs were a bit overcooked, slightly too bouncy. But that's a personal preference. Otherwise I can't fault the breakfast at Fosshotel. The second room - the I think it needed a bit of attention and in our rush to the airport I forgot to mention a couple of things. The TV settings were faulty- we couldn't get the subtitles to turn off (we managed to and then they'd turn back on without anyone touching anything!) and the hairdryer was broken. TBH we only watched the news in the morning and evening after a day out so it wasn't a big deal. I let my hair dry naturally in the warm room, which wasn't a big deal for me either. Room 811. I would absolutely recommend Fosshotel!

Great Fosshotel downtown Reykjavík.... Hotel was very crowded because of Cruise Ships Lines departing days to come, lobby was full of people, front desk personnel were very busy but quite efficient ! Our room upgrade was given on time, actually three hours before schedule. From our room in the Tower we could see Reykjavik coast line, during summer month the sun sets around 23.59 and Sun rises at 2.57. Beautiful views all day long ! Restaurant for breakfast and dinner were very good, specially breakfast more options to chose from. Concierge very efficient in Booking tours and ordering taxis. Everything was just perfect, elevators working fast, Lobby great entrance with big revolving door kept cold outside. Fosshotel well located to walk downtown or catch a Local Bus. Next time in Reykjavik we will stay here again.

No complaints !

Very friendly staff, clean, comfortable, modern rooms, great for allergy sufferers as rooms have carpet free floors. Huge breakfast buffet, free street parking after hours, very reasonably priced

Basement parking dark and confusing. Couldnt figure out how to pay or how to get into hotel from parking before check-in, so didn't bother using it. Used mostly free street parking. Parka app easy to use.

Fosshotel Reykjavik is very centrally and conveniently located. We arrived very late, after midnight, to a friendly welcome. We had made some very specific requests about room location. When we discovered that the room was right near the walkway from the lifts, specifically not what we asked for, the staff swung into action to help resolve. Options were limited but a suitable room was found and it served us well being towards the end of a passageway, and being quieter. The room was small but comfortable. There was space enough to lay out our two hard suitcases. There was a useful safe in the room as well for valuables. Breakfast both mornings was in the restaurant downstairs. The food was plentiful and very tasty, and there was enough separation between tables in the busy space that you did not feel like guests were crowded. Even at 7.30am it was busy, given that tour groups operate from the hotel. Street parking was found easily when we needed it, which was very convenient. The bathroom is medium to large by Iceland standards and included both a bath and fully enclosed glass shower. The heated towel rail did some hard work! Room service, while pricey, was efficient and the fish and chips were very tasty.

The shower knobs, common in Iceland, are troublesome to use with slippery hands. Room service trays were collected from the room many hours after house keeping was called.

Check-in staff were friendly and helpful. Our upgraded room was spacious and clean, with fantastic views. Added bonus that we could open and close the windows electronically! Beds were so comfortable, we didn't want to get up :) The restaurant buffet was superb - special mention to Rajesh, who went above and beyond for my vegetarian daughter. And to the lovely manager and his restaurant staff. Cannot praise them highly enough. A warm welcome and smile go such a long way. The restaurant is a big part of why we will definitely return to this hotel.

Our only disappointment, was that supplies for making coffee were frugal - only one caffeinated pod for 2 people, and not much creamer/sugar. So we had coffee in the restaurant.

We only stayed one night to facilitate what would have otherwise been a long and late layover at the airport with two small children. So 24 hours in Reykjavik it was. The hotel is nice, clean, and all staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a nice large family room. It is a ca. 15 minute walk to the old 'centre' of town. Was not a problem for us, with kids, but keep it in mind. The breakfast was very good, with a large and varied selection for all diets. You should really try a few different beers at the bar downstairs or its restaurant.

Look, it's Iceland and everything is shockingly expensive -- try not to think about it too much. We arrived somewhat late in the day, tired, and with small tired children, so got room service for supper. What we had was good (not amazing, just good), but a slightly bigger/better selection (not just burgers) would be appreciated, something healthy and/or kid-friendly.

Great location - we walked everywhere in the city from this hotel. Breakfast in the morning at the on-site restaurant was a wonderful option and quite the spread (lots of gluten free options). The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room itself was comfy and clean (no smelly hotel carpets in room!). Our bed and bedding was comfy and bonus they had bathrobes and slippers. I only wished that the hotel room had blackout curtains!!! The sun barely goes down during the summer

Although we had some concerns about the availability of parking in this area of the city, we found a parking spot on the street and as it was Sunday evening, we didn't have to pay until 0900 Monday morning. It was easy to run out in the morning and settle up on the parking app. Check in was quick and smooth. The hotel was modern and very nice, although I found our room a bit small. However, I understand there is a different culture in this country, and space is at a premium.

As mentioned, I found the room a bit small but it was not a deal breaker.

Thankful we were given a Harbor view by the receptionist when we requested for it

We requested the receptionist to book us the flybus transfer from hotel to Reykjavik airport day before our flight on March 5. However, on March 6 the receptionist informed us that our names were not registered to be picked up. We had to take a taxi to the airport and paid for the taxi fare to be reimbursed by the hotel later. We should have been given a voucher by the hotel staff.

the room was amazingly clean. the furniture was cozy, practically located and with a pleasant design. the reception staff were helpful and nice. the cleaning people respected the "do not disturb" sign, even though it was displayed at the time when they usually cleaned up rooms. the location is quite convenient - close to Laugavegur, to supermarkets or bus stops. but with almost no traffic going around the hotel. no noise, less pollution. since the building is so tall, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the windows open. it was lovely to get inside the room proper clean icelandic air.

the dinner was overpriced - the menu was the same as for the lunch, but double priced. the food was tasty, well prepared, but not Michelin star exquisite, expectation created by the price. pretty much all metallic building have some noisy stretches when sun heats them or when they get cooler. it was not something disturbing to not be able to sleep. but sometimes over the day, it was noticeable.
