Perfect for one couple or friends. Apartment was really modern, warm, spotless and the location couldn’t have been closer to everything. Fully equipped kitchen and there was a good hair drier in the bathroom to save us bring in our carry on luggage. 2 minute walking distance to all pick up bus stops, restaurants and bars.

No blinds or curtains on the windows in the apartment including the bedroom and bathroom so anyone walking past on the street or in the buildings across could see directly into the apartment = no privacy It was advertised as one bedroom and a pull out couch in the living area. Our group was a couple & one single but there was no door on the bedroom = no privacy The living room with the pull out couch is directly opposite a night club so from 12-3am on Friday and Saturday you can hear the music and everything happening on the street

The staff were very welcoming and helpful both via email and in person. The apartment was spacious and in a great spot for exploring the city. I thought we may struggle to park but we managed to get a spot in the designated spaces at the back. Our 2 daughters stayed on the sofa bed which was a great size and comfortable, in some properties we found them a little small or very hard.

There is a nightclub right next to it so it gets very noisy on a Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning. We found it quite amusing watching all the merry folks wondering about, a bit like live reality TV, but some people might find it too disruptive to a good night's sleep. The apartment does have extra glazing to counteract this issue but it does mean the apartment can sometimes feel quite warm. All in all though a good stay.

This was a fantastic apartment in a brilliant location. It was perfect for a family of 4 and we would have stayed longer if we could. Will definitely be booking again. The owner/manager was so kind and helpful and came to meet us even though it was late and I had only booked 2 minutes before our stay.

stayed 3 nights Monday to Thursday. On the Wednesday night there was a lot of loud music and noisy patrons from I assume a nightclub on street below. This continued until 4 in the morning. I can only assume this would be similar on a Thursday through to the weekend.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Thingholt. We appreciated the reminders and suggestions for things to do during our stay that were sent prior to our arrival. Check-in was so easy and the staff pleasant. The location was fantastic, so close to dining and shopping as well as the bus stops for tours and airport transfers. The lobby and room were extremely clean. The apartment was spacious, had wonderful views, providing an abundance of natural light, and was very comfortable. It was great to have access to a table for work space, a refrigerator, a stove, and as a tea drinker, I appreciated the water kettle. The bed and linens were clean and comfortable. I could not imagine a better place to stay.

Everything! Location, comfort, customer service, value and so on. I've been to Reykjavik several times and this is the best location I've ever had. Great for a family stay, close to everything in central Reykjavik.

The only thing to be aware of is that with the ideal location comes street noise. This is no fault of property- Reykjavik is well-known for its nightlife and that equals volume at night. The trade-off to be in an ideal location was worth it for us- earplugs were the solution. But if you're super sensitive to noise at night and won't or can't wear earplugs, you should stay more off the beaten path. Again, not the fault of the Thingholt, though!

Beautiful, great location, SO easy to check in and leave, and all the staff were just so wonderful. Easy walking distance to everything, beds were so comfortable, and the kids loved it.

2 things and they are super small: 1. The gate from the parking lot in the back was broken, so had to walk around to front door with luggage. 2. Be warned about Reykjavik in summer, people love the ongoing sunlight and the music in the local clubs doesn’t stop. This is not the apartments fault by any means, but since there’s no AC you have to choose between open windows for cool air in the apartment and hearing all the street noise, or closing the soundproof windows and potentially being warm at night. We closed the windows and heard nothing, but should consider a second floor fan for the apartment.

Location fantastic for exploring Reykjavik. Great views over downtown Reykjavik and the Harpa building. We had a great display of the fireworks New Year’s Eve. Nice 2 bedroom apartment for 2 adults 1 child. Low eaves in the bedrooms but fine for us. Nice selection of tea / coffee / sugar. Heavy snow and -15 at times and managed to keep apartment nice and warm.

Rooms not being ready for 3pm arrival. I understand short staffed but it wasn’t just our room. Malfunctioning door entry meant I had to call and my phone was about to die. I had printed paper work in the room I couldn’t access. Having a contact number outside the office door would make sense. This was quickly resolved using a key box outside the property and had we known that it was there and the code wouldn’t have needed to call.

Location was really good, the apartment was clean, good parking easy access to all amenities. Environmentally friendly. Staff were nice and helpful. The terrace outside our apartment was a great space with a table and chairs to sit in the mornings and evenings.

Neighbourhood was really noisy some nights with people noise, traffic and music. The apartment could've benefitted with a sofa and also a bedside cabinet. The shower room would also benefit with somewhere to set your toiletries and we felt the sink was also a bit small.

The booking arrangements and accommodation instructions were all clear. It took maybe around 5 minutes though to find the actual apartment walking up and down multiple stairs but not an issue - just bear in mind it is not a hotel corridor with rooms on both sides. Ekra staff was very helpful in recommending the places to visit, especially restaurants - we followed the recommendations and visited Food Cellar which was great. The building itself appeared to be an old restored house, keeping some historic elements, staying in which enriched the feel of the city unlike any modern apartment. The place was very warm and cosy with all kitchen appliances and bedding. Location could not possibly be better - very central and everything we needed was minutes walk. Overall a great place to stay, would definitely recommend.

Some small things that could be improved: there was no wine bottle opener and buying one around was a bit of a task; the stove top was either malfunctioning or we could not get how to operate it properly (instruction manuals were for a different appliance).
