Location, location, location! The ease of stepping in/out to visit Chandni Chowk , the Jama Masjid, the Jain temple and red fort can’t be beaten! We took an independent guide to gain a history and geographical overview and then easily revisited and extended our walks into the congested lanes. We felt safe at all times. The Havelli itself is lovely and matches many we have stayed in this trip; however the prices for services are comparatively higher. We took taxis in/out for ease of dropping off and having staff help with the luggage. It’s a very expensive service. On both occasions pick ups were late; plan ahead to avoid anxiety due to Delhi traffic. We dined in the lower courtyard which was delightful with in/ outdoor dining. We stayed at the weekend and the Havelli is extremely busy with outside tourists and large groups which we think deter from staying guests’ experiences. Book a table ahead of time! We were disappointed that the rooftop dining wasn’t on offer as per the marketing. We flew kites which was a nice touch but not as grand and organised as the marketing promoted. Guests simply turned up for a few minutes leading to congestion on the small balcony. We booked the Indian high tea; 2,000 rupee p/p. Nicely presented selection of Indian snacks. Dinner costs on average 4/5000 rupees without alcohol. The beer is very expensive in comparison to other hotels. The mock tails were delicious. Staff are friendly and servers proud of the local dishes. The live drumming provides ambience in the evening; the dancing is a set of short performances interspersed throughout the evening. The room was comfortable; shower water hot. The evening music can affect rest and noise in rooms until later in the evening. We loved the book provided in the room for reading and will follow up with a purchase. There are photos displayed of the refurbishment and more non fiction books on Delhi would be a bonus.

Our stay @ the Haveli Dharumpura was truly an unforgettable experience. This is a stately UNESCO heritage listed property which has been carefully refurbished to its previous grandeur located within the maze like streets of Chandni Chowk. We got there on a rickshaw navigating through the convoluted, congested & crazy streets of Old Delhi. It was definitely an inundation of the senses. & we arrived in this beautiful, calm & orderly space which welcomed us to a pampering experience of attentive staff, cut above the rest dining setting & food quality & we were even treated to traditional Indian dance performance. What made this stay extra special was that we could discover Chandni Chowk by ourselves. Getting a 1st hand experience of Old Delhi in the raw was most interesting, confronting & the best experience any intrepid traveller could ask for.

Excellent Indian cuisine served at the property cooked with essence of Old Delhi styled culinary delights. Absolutely authentic and worth it. A must try in dinner are the Dal, Appetizers, Biriyani, Murgh Makhanwala ( Butter Chicken ), Rara Ghost ( Mutton in Semi Spicy Gravy ) and amazing collection of Cocktails and mocktails. One must not also miss the Hi-Tea which has some very intriguing and interesting Snacks to be devoured with Masala Chai or Lassi

The approach road to property is extremely dirty, dingy and not taken cared of. The Gully Gulliyan ( the bylane ) is supposed to be UNESCOWorld Heritage Site and basic cleanliness, lighting etc needs to be done to attract good Tourists and weekend Travellers who would like to soak the spirit of Old Delhi and heritage. The entry into Bylane is terrible and convulsing. Thats the only draw back to this amazing 19th Century haveli, restored with class and finesse.

The hotel was gorgeous, and every corner was filled with lovely details. The rooms were clean and felt very glamorous. The terraces and restaurant were also very nice. The staff were very friendly and especially helpful to us when my mum got ill, and also with navigating various transport options (it was very relaxing having them help us without trying to sell us something). The location is very central and just a couple of minutes walk to Jama Masjid mosque.

The location is in the depths of the alleys. We were staying in the secondary building and I’m not sure how comfortable I would feel walking back from dinner by myself, even though the locals in the area outside the hotel didn’t bother the tourists as they are so used to seeing the guests. It took ages to get anywhere because the area nearby is extremely busy and full of standstill traffic (not the hotels fault but something to consider). Bring earplugs because the area is noisy!

We enjoyed the great service and personal attention of the hotel staff. Even though our flight was delayed by more than half a day, there were staff members ready to greet us at an early hour of the morning and take us to our room. The gentlemen preparing and serving the breakfast were very attentive and friendly. They gave us hints about what to see in the city for the little time we had in Delhi and told us about the history of the Haveli. The room was lovely, they left complementary water and some snacks, which was a nice touch.

The location of the Haveli is not ideal. We arrived at about 4am. We had no idea that we would not be able to reach it directly by car and would need to walk in the dark through tiny streets where people were lying all over the ground on both sides making it hard to pass. You cannot take any transport directly from the hotel. You must walk and then book your transport. This can be tricky if you don't have mobile phone service, so make sure you ask the hotel to help you or do it for you.

The restored building is fabulous fabulous- a calm, heaven in busy Old Delhi. The location allows you to walk to Mughal sites as well as a convenient metro stop for the rest of Delhi. Room was very comfortable- restoration is gobsmacking! Gorgeous marble bathroom, antiques, statues, etc etc. Roof terrace has wonderful views. The restaurant staff were all truly marvellous! They arranged a special table one night as we were entertaining an Indian friend.

If you are obsessed with quiet, this may not be the hotel ( and Old Delhi in general) for you - stay in New Delhi. The frequent dancing performances are very atmospheric but lots of people come to watch so you may find a little crowd outside your room before dinner for a half an hour. The hotel quiets down after dinner, all very civilised, the courtyard nature of this historic hotel creates a wonderful atmosphere but not an entirely quiet one. I would love to stay there 10 times more in my life but I am not looking for “ can hear a pin drop” quiet on holiday.

this is a charming oasis of Tranquility in the wonderful chaos of old Delhi. It is located down a small Ally which at first we were a little bit apprehensive about. However, everybody is so courteous and friendly that we very quickly became comfortable winding our way around the alleys and passages in which the hotel is situated. The hotel is absolutely stunning, as can be seen by the photographs when you search for the hotel. We had a delightful room. The food in the Hotel restaurant is very good indeed, and if you sit out in the atrium in the evening, you really be able to take in the ambience of the place. As it's typical in India, the staff were charming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

There was nothing we did not like about the property

We really enjoyed the experience of staying in such a wonderful and beautifully restored haveli. We also loved the fact that it was located right in the heart of old Delhi (Chandi Chowk) so we could step out of the door and be immersed in the local area.

Not really a drawback for us, but we knew from other reviews that it was going to be tricky to find the haveli in the early hours of the morning when we arrived in Delhi, so opted not to stay there the first night in order to arrive in daylight. This was a good decision for us, and the hotel team were great at communicating with our tuk tuk driver to ensure we were met at the right place and walked into the haveli the following afternoon.

Unique, historic and luxurious. Well placed and a good place to end our trip in India and a respite from the streets and lanes beyond its doors.

We were placed in the annex which involved walking down the lane to access the dining room or other facilities. We were not informed we were in the annex, which was also a beautiful Haveli. The narrow lanes outside between the two entirely separate properties (several hundred metres apart) were choked with motorbikes (at certain times of day) and diesel fumes and dog faeces was everywhere on the ground. One day this should become clean and pedestrianised.

Staff were very friendly and would walk you from the hotel to the hotel restaurant if desired. They would also meet you on the main street to help carry your luggage if needed. The hotel is a bit difficult to get to by taxi, but it is worth the adventure and traffic. The room and hotel decor was beautiful. The folk dancers during dinner were amazing. The food was great. We had dinner and breakfast there for 2 days. My daughter really liked their pancakes.

The only "issue", and it was very small, was when some guests arrived at 2am and they were very loud and woke us up. I could hear the staff asking them to be quiet but some of the guests continued to talk loud. Maybe the staff could have tried harder to get the guests to whisper since it was 2 in the morning.
