Alam Indah translates in English to 'beautiful Forest ' and that's exactly what this boutique hotel is, hidden down a sweeping driveway watched over by small monkey troupes when you drive in. Friendly courteous staff met us when we pulled up , carrying our bags up the steps to reception. Lush balinese gardens throughout the property amazing to watch gekos, blue black butterfly's flitting above, water lillies opening and closing when the sun goes down. No need to pay to visit the monkey Forest , you can see them all from your bedroom windows and they'll come and watch you back, the pool was magnificent. If tranquillity, calm and peaceful is what you need this is the perfect place to find it. Can't wait to go back.

Wellness spa is not on site as indicated in facilities. . These services are brokered out to the Alam Wangi spa back up on the street. Not a problem though, short easy walk

Beautiful family-run hotel (support Balinese businesses!) in a setting that feels like you’re in the middle of the jungle, even though there are good restaurants 100m away. The staff are SO nice. The rooms are huge and comfortable. Breakfast is good. The hotel also runs a free shuttle to Ubud town (15 min drive). I preferred the location of this hotel to central Ubud town - it is mellow but not inconvenient.

Coffee mugs and an electric kettle in the room would have been a nice addition, as well as full size water glasses. But not a big deal. Black Sheep does great coffee and it is 100 m away.

Large older Balinese style room located down a few steps close to the pool. Pool was fabulous. Breakfast was great. Can deliver to your room or eat in their restaurant. Staff were fantastic. They didn’t have tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms but the manager kindly brought me a kettle when I asked. They will also bring tea and coffee to your room if needed. Free afternoon tea at their restaurant every afternoon was delicious.

Shower over the bath. Would have preferred a walk in shower. Intermittent smoke blowing across the valley. Ask for a room closer to reception and the top of the hotel if this is an issue for you.

First the room was amazing. It was the upper floor of a little 'traditional looking' house. It looked so authentic and was so beautiful. The balcony of my room was equally awesome: super comfy with a large 'sofa' and the view on the garden was beautiful. The property looked amazing with so many plants and trees. The pool was super beautiful too, with view on the monkey forest. The staff was extremely friendly and were always ready to help. Everything was running exceptionally smoothly (breakfast was served quickly, room service was done while we were having breakfast etc..). I had such a relaxing and great stay!

The only thing that was a bit annoying was the lack of a shower curtain in the shower/bath. Water was splashing everywhere during my shower.

What can I say other than Alam Indah provided the absolute best customer care and services I've ever experienced travelling. Balinese people are so lovely, but the people who work at Alam Indah are possibly the nicest community of people I've ever encountered. All of them. In addition to the staff, the breakfast, room, car shuttle service, and pool were all wonderful. It is right beside the Sacred Monkey Jungle, so proximity to jungle = bats, frogs, butterflies, lizards, etc. around the property. For us, it was really all part of the experience. It was so lovely being beside the jungle. The location of the hotel within the village was a wonderful place of calm in an otherwise busy Ubud.

The property is beautiful. Traditional Balinese buildings with lovely wood carved doorways and other lovely details. Plenty of space in all the rooms. The staff cleaned the room so well everyday. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and are tended to with great care. The pool is stunning with mature lush vegetation and flowers all around. The open air central reception restaurant area is so lovely. The food was delicious, prepared with care and arrived very quickly. The Dragon fruit smoothie bowl for breakfast was amazing. The staff are exceptionally kind and courteous and went out of their way to learn our family’s names and greet us. They helped us with bookings and drivers and reservations. The views into the Monkey Forest are amazing and there were always a few monkeys around to keep us entertained!

It sincerely escapes my understanding how this hotel is clasified as a 2 star hotel. The facilities are beautiful, the vegetation is exuberant, the staff is soft spoken and acommodating, the villas are spectacular. Breakfast was good and enough. To take a shower and see the monkeys in the trees at the same time is a luxury. We loved our stay and only wish we had stayed longer.

We liked everything, but it must be noted that there are a lot of steps, so you need good knees. Also, you need to be comfortable with listening to the jungle at night, I literally mean hearing the night fauna right outside your room. For me that is a plus, feels like glamping! But maybe for some might be too much. There was a couple of days were we didn't get hot water, but we took morn showers since its a hot weather outside anyway.

The room was amazing, nice and tidy with a view on the hotel's beautiful garden. The staff was very lovely and very helpful for everything we needed. Breakfast was very nice, and we also had a delicious dinner. The pool has a beautiful view on the jungle. Be careful with the food and your belongings in general as there are monkeys around, which make for a funny show (they appeared outside our bathroom and balcony.. I loved it!). It's just out of Ubud city centre, but it's very close to the Monkey Sacred Forest. Amazing choice for Ubud.

many steps not suitable for old people

The cleaning and the services have been amazing. The staff is so kind and helpful, beautiful people. The pool is great and immersed in the greens. Our room was sold out so they transfered us for free in the sister company alam shanti with an upgraded room that was beautiful. The room was so big and the view on the garden amazing, the squirrels in the morning that jumps from on tree to another is super relaxing and the ladies that makes offers to the gods super peace of mind. The breakfast is great and the service super efficient.
