Our room was basic, but was fine. The little balcony was a bonus. We were close to Monkey Forest on the street behind Monkey Forest Road. It was close to shopping and restaurants. Breakfast was good -- a choice of Indonesian or American breakfast was available. The staff was very nice and accommodating.

Anyone booking Nick's needs to be aware that there is a walk of a city block from the road to the facility. In addition, there are multiple flights of stairs to negotiate. We did not walk down to the pool which was several flights down into the valley.

Tucked away from the busy roads of ubud, a little oasis. The room was very spacious and bed was so comfy. The architecture is classic Balinese, so the whole hotel is beautiful! The staff were all so friendly and helpful, you even get a turn down service in the evening which is a lovely little touch.

Minor things, the bathroom, also huge, had an ant problem by the sink area. The shower head was fixed to the wrong wall and so water would come out of the bathtub onto the floor I’m sure this can be fixed and then our stay would be 10/10.

The room was very spacious, with a lovely balcony and amazing view. The swimming pool is deep enough for an adult to stand without touching the bottom at one end. The breakfast, though with limited options, is freshly made and very good. The staff is attentive and efficient, several remembered my name almost instantly. My driver from the airport, Made, was absolutely perfect, giving me tips on how to organize the visits I was hoping to do and he was available to drive me around for half days to several of those locations. The hotel location is amazing, close enough to Ubud centre to walk to the main attractions and trendy places but at the end of a small rice field so quiet and undisturbed by traffic. The AC works fine, and there is also the option to only switch on the ceiling fan, which I truly appreciated. The gracious water bottles daily were also a nice touch, and the wifi works great all over the hotel and in the room. The hotel architecture is gorgeous and the fact that the bed could be fully surrounded by a huge mosquito net allowed me to avoid any bite in the week I stayed there.

Though it didn't bother me a lot, I have to admit the beddings and towels have seen better days with some old stains or discoloration in several spots. Also, the walls are very thin and while most of the guests were very quiet and respectful, you can easily hear every word of a conversation happening next door. Luckily the staff was very reactive when I complained to them via WhatsApp about noise next door and they handled it quickly and efficiently.

We liked being close to the action but away from the main road. Very friendly and kind staff. Pool was lovely. We will be back.

Overall, i enjoyed my stay. As i read in a few other reviews, it really does feel like you are staying in a temple. The architecture is very nice, also the location, the view, the pool were all great! I especially enjoyed the walkway through the rice field. It is short, pretty, and lantern lit at night.

The water pressure in the room was super low, and the water took 10+ minutes to actually heat up. This was very minor, but we didn't like the shampoo and soap bottles in the bathroom. They were kept in decorative ceramic bottles that we had to battle with to get the soap and shampoo out. The AC also did almost nothing to keep us cool at night. The front desk staff was a little standoffish compared to many people on Bali, but it was not rude. All in all, our concerns were minor, and we enjoyed our stay! We would visit again!

A great location on Jalan Bisma, a little away from the central Ubud madness, with little through traffic other than scooters, as the road narrows to a pathway after a bridge crossing the river - but you can go this way to the Monkey Forest on foot (about 30 minutes) or scooter (5 mins). Lots of stairs to get up and down the length of this property which is on the side of a hill above the river gorge - but beautiful views particularly from certain rooms. Most rooms have either a balcony or patio. The pool at the bottom of the property was a welcome reprieve from heat. There were good restaurants nearby including Honeymoon Kitchen. At night there was a really chill vibe in the neighbourhood (it was low season). This is a very good value older style hotel. Some of the rooms are being renovated to modern which was not to my taste, but may well suit others. I liked my tradtional room. Staff were great.

Don't renovate too many rooms - let people who want a modern room go to a different hotel!

Beautiful Authentic Balinese Style Villas, it's not so flash inside ,but beds are super comfy, shower was good, has A/C and Great Wifi, Free Breakfast ,it's ok for what it is, pool and surrounds are breathtaking. So close to the Main section of town and Monkey Forest, literally a 10minute walk, Bisma street has all u need as well. For around $60 Aus a night honestly U can't go wrong. They make up room Daily and also do a turn down service 👌👍😍

Nothing really, lots of stairs if U can't do stairs , but 3rd time I've stayed there

The pool area is lovely. The site has a very Bali feel. It is peaceful and very quiet although located in a very busy area of Ubud. The staff were absolutely delightful; helpful, accommodating and very friendly. There is a yoga room and what a treat to be able to spend an hour each morning in this beautiful space alone. The view looks out over a lush, verdant valley which is enhanced by the sound of a running stream. The perfect yoga space.

I didn't realise that we could drive up to the accommodation but of course the staff helped with luggage so it was not a problem really.

Very beautiful location, with a great view. There are restaurants , shops etc nearby. The hotel staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. room has AC and ventilation so the staying in the room was good. Breakfast was included , everything was delicious, the menu is limited though. Pool in the hotel is excellent, clean and nice, loved it.

There is no exhaust ventilation system in the bathroom. no shower curtains, so the water was splashing all over the bathroom. Humidity is very high in the area , linens felt damp and a bit smelly. Last day of our staying we found a black worm on my bed , finding worms in the bathroom was ok , it’s a nature and the cottages are surrounded by it. but finding a worm on your bed in the morning was freaky 😂

We stayed in different places some more expensive and Nicks Cottages is the best. It’s a traditional room with a beautiful swimming pool. The hotel is walking distance to Ubud’s main streets

The walls could do with a little refresh of pain but it’s so clean and the staff clean your room every day and make you bed. I would recommend this hotel 100% we had to book two rooms and we had two rooms next to each other so our teenage girls felt safe and were happy to have their own room.
