This hotel was the most luxurious and at the same time one of the cheapest accomodations we stayed at during our roadtrip in Ireland. We arrived at the Great Ballina near the end of our trip and it was great to finally rest at this hotel. The bedroom and bathroom were big and the beds were super comfortable. The staff was kind and helpful as well! I don‘t know if it was just our room, but we were really happy about the bathroom that was equipped for the elderly/people with a disability.

The only thing missing was a toilet brush in the bathroom. :-)

My family and I had a great time at Great National Hotel Ballina. The rooms are big, very clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful 24/7 reception. Pretty good stylish bar/bistro with good food and affordable prices. Swimming pool is fantastic, well kept and optimal temperature. There’s also a gym. Hotel surroundings are quiet. Good reception area. WiFi was fine. Gigantic free parking area. Good (irish) breakfast. Overall it is a nice hotel and was better than what I expected. I recommend it and hope I can stay there again some day.

Swimming pool closing time on weekends at 6pm :( Would be nice if could stay open longer.

The hotel has a small, but very functional gym, with a few cardio machines, as well as free weights. Ther is also a swimming pool, but I didn't have a chance to use it. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, giving the hotel a very warm feel, whilst still meeting high standards. Food in the bar was amazing- I had the salmon. The location is great if you want to avoid the traffic in the town, and offers lots of parking space.

The only negative I had was there seemed to be a group working at the back of the hotel until about 10:30pm. I vey much doubt it's a regular occurrence though.

Staff were wonderful! Rooms were spotless. Girl at the pool was so lovely letting my daughter have a little look at the pool before we intended to go down.

We had a.meal at the restaurant the first night of our stay. Chips were so hard and my husband's burger was not great either. Very expensive when this was the case. This is why we didn't eat here the second night . We loved the hotel but this did let it down a bit for us as we usually eat at the hotel in the evenings.

We were welcomed at reception by Elizabeth, who was so friendly and helpful. It set the tone for the rest of our stay. We were so impressed by her. The room was a triple room, spacious, clean and had everything we needed. It was quiet at night, the beds were so comfortable and we slept so well. We used the gym one morning - it was small but had everything we needed.

Breakfast was basic, buffet-style. While there was a good selection, a menu-style breakfast with more selection would have been nice. However, seeing as we had gotten a great deal on the room, including breakfast, this didn't bother us too much.

it's great that the reception gave us the wheelchair accessed room as i was having difficulties in mobilising and using my own wheelchair at the time.

the mattresses were not that comfortable. maybe because i am heavy in weight. the toilet was somehow very slow to dry up. the reception was charging us for late check out. Eur15 for extra 1hour. i felt annoyed by that. i've travelling around and never that i was charged for late check out.

The robes and slippers. Clean and comfortable. Good location for visiting family. Staff were friendly and the hotel has a nice atmosphere.

The TV did not work. It switched on but we couldn’t get any channels. The pool and gym closed earlier than we had been told when we checked in, and we didn’t get a chance to use the pool which was a disappointment and one of the reasons we chose the hotel.

The rooms were really spacious, bright and clean - I felt very comfortable The breakfast was fantastic - so much to choose from, especially if you're fussy or have fussy children. Staff were really lovely and accommodating - I would definitely stay again The hotel is very child friendly too, and they often have live singers/bands/entertainment on

The hairdryer and iron weren't great at all - one hairdryer we had burnt out whilst using it, and it had no power to dry my thick hair, and then the second one we got, didn''t dry my hair either. That was a little frustrating as I could have brought my own if I had known they weren't the best quality. The swimming pool also wasn't the best, there were pieces of dirt in the small square pool, which put us off going in. The hotel is also a 40min walk into the centre of Ballina, so if you don't have a car, you have to get taxis, which all added up to get out. I was told it was only 15mins to walk into town, when booking online. Not a major issue if you have a car, but if you have a lot of family to visit, it's a bit of a pain
