January 2024

Honestly a very nice stay. Think we paid €179 for one night, but we were upgraded for free to a deluxe room that had a view of the Christmas markets (Eyre square). The location is EVERYTHING! Literally would stay here again for that alone. Right next to Christmas markets, town centre, and train station. Breakfast was nice, one of the receptionists was very nice, light brown hair and glasses, forget her name but she was lovely. Rest were fine, nothing exceptional but just standard. And the young couple from breakfast (they came to our bar in Killarney a few days later) were lovely too. Room looked lovely. Also, appreciate the plate with treats they put in for our anniversary. Was very special. All in all a nice stay!

Smell of fresh paint made me wanna gag, not sure it was best to paint it right before Christmas. Could’ve waited till after and closed that section for the night since January tends to be quiet anyway. Also, walls were very thin, probably because it’s an old hotel, but I could hear creaks from upstairs and could hear the man snoring in the room next to us. Bar menu is only average food wise, but didn’t affect us much as we ate out mostly. Had lunch and breakfast following day, lunch was ok, breakfast was quite nice!

The Hardiman is in a great location on Eyre Square, just around the corner from the train station. It is an easy walk to the main shopping streets. Breakfast was excellent. The photo of the room I booked was not the room I was given which was disappointing but Thomas was wonderful and was able to upgrade us to a beautiful room which made our stay so much nicer. There are beautiful sitting rooms in this hotel for guests and the restaurant has excellent chefs. We were even entertained by an accomplished pianist/guest playing the baby grand piano! All the staff at this hotel are lovely and welcoming!

Location was perfect. Easy access to major sites, train station, restaurants, etc. Dropped car rental right across the street and a bonus on our rainy day departure: the hotel has a :secret door" that permits direct access directly into the train station. We were going to hire a taxi for the short ride around the block as we had a lot of luggage. On a hunch I Googled "Hardiman Hotel back door to Galway train station." And by magic the information came up. Just ask management for access if you need it.

We booked a standard room well in advance of our stay. The room we were given upon arrival was what I would describe as "substandard" and looked very lttle like what I saw on Booking.com (very small, stuffy and hot, no a/c or ventillation ). After speaking to the reception staff, we were given a far superior room with an in-room thermostat to control ventilation and temperature. On the whole, the staff were extremely attentive, cordial, etc and after the room switch our stay was excellent.

The location in Eyre square is amaxing - very historical building. The staff on reception, at breakfast and room cleaners were all friendly and helpful. The foyer is very grand and even had a grand piano.

We were in an additional annex at the side of the building but it was fine. There was limited choice at breakfast with most food gone by the time we had got down after 10am. No sausages, no beans, no tomatoes. On the positive side, the staff were kind in looking after us with tea, coffee, toast etc

The staff here were all lovely and accommodating. The rooms were nice enough, although dated it wasn’t really a problem and was quite pretty. The location on the front is perfect, short walk away from some great places!

The only glaring problem was our room and seemingly many others backed onto the train station, due to the lack of air conditioning we kept the windows open all day and night and unfortunately woke up at the crack of dawn to construction/trains/seagulls and shouting from the car park. Honestly if they provided some ear plugs upon check in it I’d give it a 10 :)

The breakfast was beautiful. I usually don’t eat breakfast at hotels but there was so much choice. The hotel was absolutely stunning and all staff were so friendly. The bed was super comfy and the location was perfect.

Room was very warm and the people in the room next to ours were very noisy early in the morning. Walls are thin so it woke us up. Also wasn’t enough shower gel and was hard to get water temperature hot in the shower.

Location , room size , bed very comfortable .staff pleasant and helpful .our room had a Xmas tree so very festive

Minor moan . I was single at breakfast both days and pretty much ignored . Apart from asking if I wanted coffee ( which by the way was excellent ) no one ever asked if I wanted toast ( either day) or anything off the menu on second day . ( which I did) I was nt that bothered as the buffet is good and could have gone and got a waiter .

The hotel knew I was there for my birthday and put a lovely note and some macarons in my room to welcome me. The breakfast was excellent, and the timing was good, so I didn’t have to get up too early! I also had the afternoon tea, which was so lovely.

The view from my room (227) was the utility roof, which isn’t very attractive. They try to make it more appealing with flowering planters, but there’s only so much they can do.

My Ma and I stayed here for two nights to enjoy the build up to Christmas. We stayed in a deluxe suite which was spacious and very comfortable. Our room had a Christmas tree which was a lovely touch and overlooked the markets. We had food in the main restaurant which was fabulous - highly recommend the Turkey! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return next year

Parking is off site, we availed of the valet parking which was €15 per night. There was a small wait for the car so it is advised to ring in advance but staff were very helpful.

The ESPA products in the bathroom were a big plus. The Television had a lot of channels which was great. I loved that they used a bit of Irish in their welcome letter, and signage in the lift. Maith sibh! I would stay again.

I thought the decor was a bit dated, perhaps that is just me, I know the Hardiman is a well established hotel. I also thought 9.50 for a dessert was too expensive.
