The hotel was in a great location, only few minutes walk to Eyre Square and city centre. The room was really comfortable and clean. The evening meal in the bar was delicious. It was great to find a central location with parking too.

We enjoyed our stay at the Western Hotel a lot. It offered a lot for the relatively low prices and the staff, especially the night-porter Wayne (king of the castle) made our stay here a night to remember. He was very helpful and cute, even returning our lost money to us and not accepting it as a tip, telling us to give it to the hotel instead. The Western Hotel can be happy to have such staff and we are happy to have been able to meet Wayne. Stay like you are, miss you!

What is that weird corner in room 108 for? Use it for the Wardrobe to create more space perhaps. Otherwise very enjoyable :)

My second stay at the Western. Location is fantastic. The staff are all friendly and the bar staff made the difference for us to stay in the hotel for a few drinks our wonder off into town. Plus a great pint of Guinness supplied with the knowledgeable barman who kept us right on how the black stuff should be stored and served. Brilliant and only 5 euro a pint. Really love the fact that the car goes under ground and is nice and safe. The breakfast although not included in the room price is the best value breakfast around that area including down Quay street. Plus it was really good. Filled us up for the day. The restaurant in the evening was lovely. Again great friendly staff and the food was great. Highly recommended all round.

I'm being a bit picky and it wouldn't change my mind about coming back but chuck the breakfast in the room price and complimentary snacks and drinks in the room would be nice instead of a charge for them. Plus. There isn't a fridge in the room or if there is it is well hidden. So make the changes please.... Gwan..Gwan GWAN!

This is not a new hotel, but it is clean and fresh - carpeting, paint, fixtures feel new. Our room was comfortable for two, not large but adequate. Bed and bath were good. No fridge or microwave, but hot water pot was available to make coffee/tea. Bed linen was excellent and - in a shocking throw back to the pre-Covid era - our room was actually serviced every day, which felt decadent. Front desk clerk was friendly and efficient, restaurant staff were courteous. Breakfast was very good. Location, just blocks away from Eyre Square, Aircoach Station, with myriad pubs, restaurants, shopping within easy walking distance, could not have been better.

We were in Galway for wonderfully warm days. Our open window overlooked the small quadrangle behind the hotel, which was a bit noisy at night, but not so that it kept us awake.

The hotel is extremely well located for shopping and visiting tourist attractions in Galway. Having free parking in a city is a bonus. The breakfast was generous, well presented and tasty. Food service was fast and the staff were friendly. The car park attendant was particularly helpful and went over and above (without being asked ) to source me a spare phone charger.

The hotel decor in places is a little bit tired and dated. The range of TV stations is limited

Good location - right in the middle of everything we wanted to do; lobby was small and cozy but the bar and restaurant next to it were awesome! We arrive too late for proper dinner but the server got me a salad and chips - so nice of him. the room was really nice and modern and clean. We enjoyed taking the double decker bus tour - there's more to Galway than city center. Salt Hill Beach would be a fun place to visit. The parking was underground the hotel - very good for a city property (usually have to park across the street). Very nice stay at the Western - there's a TJMAXX next door! TKMAXX!

can't think of anything negative

The hotel was close enough to the train station which was convenient for me as I wanted to walk there upon arriving and checking out. I didn’t have breakfast there because there was an extra charge, so I ate out in one of the neighborhood cafes. However, the dining room was very nice, serving good food with excellent service, especially by Zed who stood out to me for his friendliness and good service. My room was spacious which I appreciated, but I did experience problems with the shower. While showering, the water would suddenly turn very hot or very cold for a few seconds and continued to do that no matter what temperature was set. Also, I had trouble with the heating unit against the wall, but at least they brought up an electric heater for me to use since some nights (I was there a full week) were colder than others.

As mentioned, the shower was very peculiar with hot and cold streaks while running. One could not control it. Also, the heater against the wall was controlled by the reception downstairs which I felt was wrong. They controlled the time, telling me that it ran only between certain hours in the evening and not after 11 pm or so which I think is ridiculous. But as I say, the electric heater they brought me helped a lot. Also, despite the fact this hotel bills itself as a “family-owned business welcoming guests with a family warmth” or something to that effect, there are no family members appearing anywhere. The only people that guests will see are the younger employees at the reception desk. I found that to be rather strange.

The room was for four of us and I must say it was a big room and we were pleasantly surprised that we were all not on top of each other. The double room was at one side and two singles at the other with good space in between. The breakfast was good plenty of everything. The staff at breakfast were very attentive to all our needs. Having a car park was an added bonus and it was a great addition to the overall booking with Eyre Square on our doorstop.

We can't really single out any particular issue that we were unhappy with.

Location was excellent near Eyre Square. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good, though a bit disappointed with the fresh fruit selection. Only mandarin oranges and kiwi. The bar attached to the hotel was good and there was some live music there on the Saturday night.

There was an unpleasant odour in the hallway , but not in the room. Because it is an old building, there were a lot of stairs and fire doors to get to the bed room. There is a lift though.
